Chapter 620 - 594: Exposure

Chapter 620: Chapter 594: Exposure

No sixth sense is needed, nor a strong observational ability; just the fact that Ben is brazen enough to intercept a plane from the United States shows that he is acting with a do-or-die determination.

Kanter wasn’t worried about Gao Yi; he was worried about Amos because Amos was the culprit behind Ben’s nuclear predicament. If Ben forcibly demands that the US hand over Amos for personal interrogation, it would actually be quite reasonable.

Kanter was very cautious, and Gao Yi didn’t have much to worry about because if Ben were to take him away here, or more directly, if Ben were to kill him, then... well, it might not really matter that much.

"Protect Amos well. We should not show ourselves; inquire about Ben’s intentions."

Kanter ordered, then he whispered to Gao Yi, "We shouldn’t go over there; Ben might do anything right now."

Even if it’s a dog raised by the United States, if its den has been destroyed, its food bowl removed, and it’s been severely beaten, even a tamed dog might turn on its owner in such a situation.

Moreover, Gao Yi is not the dog owner; at best, he’s the outsider who came to dismantle the dog’s den. Although he has the owner’s tacit consent, if the dog bites him, the owner might try to intervene a bit, perhaps tug the leash. But if the leash isn’t held, or if it breaks, the owner might be reluctant to kill the dog.

That’s the situation, and Gao Yi needs to be self-aware.

Without hesitation, Gao Yi followed Kanter back.

There weren’t many soldiers protecting the plane, because they were inside the airport, so there was no need to act as if facing a great enemy, with soldiers standing all over the airport.

The American soldiers diligently blocked Ben from approaching, but Ben had more people. No one fired, but Ben quickly split at least half of his people to surround Gao Yi and his team.

"Get back!"

Kanter seemed a bit anxious. He picked up the walkie-talkie and said urgently, "We encountered an unexpected situation; Ben has initiated an interception, and their hostility is obvious."

"Avoid direct conflict, return to the underground nuclear bunker, and I’ll negotiate with them."

Snyder didn’t personally see them off, but he was concerned about the departure of Gao Yi’s group. At this moment, he straightforwardly took on the responsibility and personally went to negotiate with Ben.

Yet whether Ben dared to directly snatch someone from the Secret Action Bureau remained unknown.

Kanter brought quite a few people, ten in total, but at most they were armed with rifles, and not many wore Bullet-Proof Vests. Meanwhile, Ben’s side had already shown their vehicle-mounted machine guns.

The convoy quickly drove toward Gao Yi and his team, clearly intending to surround them.

If it really came to a fight, the Secret Action Bureau would not be a match. Watching Ben’s soldiers approach with overwhelming force, Kanter shouted urgently, "Stop the car!"

The car stopped. Kanter opened the door and got out, then he pulled out his gun and fired two shots into the sky.

Once the gunfire broke out, the situation changed.

Although there weren’t many American troops at the airport, their attitude was strong. After Kanter set an example, the soldiers who were previously unclear about the situation quickly entered a ready state.

The gunfire served as a signal and an attitude; nearly all the soldiers raised their guns. There weren’t any fixed fortifications here, but unprotected soldiers quickly moved into combat mode.

Kanter laid his gun flat, aiming at the oncoming armored vehicle. His handgun wouldn’t pose any threat to the vehicle, but he still pointed his gun and shouted at the armored vehicle, "Stop!"

The armored vehicle showed no signs of stopping, almost appearing intent on running over Kanter, yet Kanter stood his ground, aiming his handgun at the vehicle.

With a distance of less than thirty meters, the armored vehicle’s imposing presence was overwhelming. Nevertheless, Kanter didn’t hesitate and fired at the armored vehicle.

The bullet struck the vehicle’s bullet-proof glass, leaving a small mark. Finally, the armored vehicle came to a screeching halt, stopping less than two meters from Kanter, almost in his face.

No one got out of the armored vehicle, but someone did get out of an off-road vehicle trailing behind it. A small Ben, wearing a military uniform with the rank of major general, got out of the car and shouted at Kanter, "Don’t move!"

Kanter didn’t hesitate to aim his gun at the major general, shouting, "Get out of here! If you don’t leave, I’ll regard it as an attack by your side."

The major general seemed to be enraged, clearly lacking reason, but at this moment, at least he showed courage.

He ferociously charged up to Kanter, and as numerous Ben soldiers dismounted to surround the entire convoy, the major general ground his teeth and barked at Kanter, "If you dare, shoot!"

His English had a heavy accent, but it was at least clear. After he finished yelling, he fiercely waved his hand at Kanter, and growled, "The terrorists who attacked us are in your vehicle; hand them over!"

The situation turned grave.

Not because of Ben’s attitude, not because Ben dared to encircle the Secret Action Bureau’s people, but because Ben outright declared that the person they sought was in the convoy.

Kanter was momentarily stunned.

However, Kanter didn’t shrink back, nor did he plan to retreat a step. He lowered his handgun, pointing it at the ground.

"Turn around and leave here, taking all your people with you. If you refuse to go, I’ll blow your head off. You have three seconds: 3, 2..."

His posture seemed to soften, but Kanter’s words instantly pushed him and the major general to the edge of a cliff.

Kanter didn’t raise his gun, but if the countdown ended and the Ben major general still refused to leave, he would decisively raise his gun and shoot.

No preconditions, no room for compromise. The reason Kanter only left three seconds is to leave no room for imagination for himself or the opponent.

Nobody could bear the responsibility of opening fire, but Kanter had no other choice.

"Put your guns down!"

At this critical moment, Kanter heard a shout from behind him.

Kanter didn’t have his gun raised, so he didn’t need to put it down, but when he turned around, he saw that almost all the people he brought had already disembarked and were aiming their guns at Ben’s soldiers nearby.

Ben’s soldiers also raised their guns, and at least five were aimed at Kanter.

Gao Yi and the others could see everything clearly from the car, but at this point, Gao Yi wouldn’t get off, nor would he let Amos get out and escalate the conflict.

The shouting came from a US Army officer. He led at least a hundred men rushing out from the underground nuclear bunker, and while directing his subordinates to completely encircle Ben’s soldiers, he angrily rebuked the Ben major general, "General, what are you doing! Please immediately withdraw your people, or your side will bear all the consequences of any escalation."

The major general neither retreated nor commanded his men to lower their weapons, because his target was to prevent this convoy from leaving.

The major general glanced at the people still on the convoy, then coldly remarked, "The person who attacked us is in your convoy. He must be judged by us, and we will spare no cost to take him."

Kanter was about to speak when the major general continued, "I only want Gardener and his accomplices. As for the others, you can take them; this demand isn’t excessive."

At the mention of the name Gardener, Kanter was stunned.

Gao Yi, still in the car, also heard and froze for a moment, then whispered, "It’s bad, we’ve been exposed!"
