Chapter 619: Chapter 593 Withdrawal

Watching Yuri and Amos babble on is quite interesting.

It’s called an interrogation, but it’s more like Amos’s inner monologue, recounting everything he’s done since the day he established the Soviet Restoration Committee.

In any case, it’s all nonsense, and Amos has decided to surrender to the United States, so Snyder is no longer interested in listening to Amos’s babble.

The main thing is that once Amos is sent to the US, he’ll end up in the hands of the CIA, which has already been agreed upon. If Snyder tries to take credit for this with the Pentagon, things will be difficult to manage afterward.

"The plane is ready; it’s the same flight as the embassy staff returning, and the CIA will receive Amos and escort you out of Japan."

Snyder wasn’t interested in continuing the interrogation with Amos, so Kanter took over, but Kanter didn’t ask much, merely muddled through it for a while, telling Gao Yi and the others to retreat first.

Leaving is inevitable—waiting around to inhale nuclear fallout isn’t an option. But Gao Yi can’t leave yet because Xinfeng and the others haven’t returned.

Xinfeng, Feng Biao, and Li Jie set fire to something and lost contact while being pursued by the police.

We’ve been unable to reach them, and we can’t notify them where to meet up. The outside is already in chaos, making it unrealistic for Gao Yi and his team to search outside.

"I can’t leave; my people haven’t come back yet."

Gao Yi seemed a bit irritated, not because he was eager to leave, but because he was starting to worry.

Kanter whispered, "Listen to me, you’d better leave quickly, go with Amos. Buddy, Japan isn’t stupid; they’re bound to realize your involvement in this disaster. The General is under a lot of pressure; leave now, and once you’re in the US, even if Japan discovers something, it won’t matter. But..."

Kanter paused and then smiled bitterly, "This is ultimately Japan; at this point, Japan might do anything. To be honest, if Japan is determined to eliminate you at any cost, do you think the General would start a war with the Allies?"

Gao Yi thought about it, hesitated for a moment, and finally shook his head, saying, "No, I have to leave with my team."

"What are you considering? Leave when you must; don’t create trouble for yourself. Staying here won’t help, and leaving won’t affect anything."

The rational choice is not to worry about Xinfeng and the others—those who can leave should go first, because staying won’t really help.

But from a human perspective, abandoning your brothers and leaving first is simply unacceptable.

Gao Yi didn’t hesitate much; he shook his head and said quietly, "Unless I plan to disband the Garden upon leaving, I cannot leave alone. Buddy, I’m staying; you have to help find and protect them, but if I leave amid such chaos, no one will care for them."

Kanter spread his hands helplessly, saying, "Then hand Amos over to the CIA; let the CIA evacuate him regardless of what happens, Amos must be evacuated first."

"Alright, let’s wait a bit; there will be a plane for us."

Gao Yi spoke confidently.

Giving up this flight doesn’t matter; if necessary, any of the Five permanent countries would send a plane for him.

Gao Yi is confident about this.

Kanter shook his head, saying, "No, it’s not about the plane but the wind direction. The volcanic eruption is too severe; the ash significantly obstructs flying. If the wind changes, the airports here won’t be able to take off or land any aircraft!"

As he spoke, a person in civilian clothes quickly walked up to Kanter, hurriedly saying, "Sir, there are three people outside the base claiming to be from the Secret Action Bureau, they have urgent intelligence to report to you immediately; they have requested to see you personally."

Speak of Cao Cao, and Cao Cao arrives.

Kanter glanced at Gao Yi, appearing relaxed, "Great, looks like no need to wait anymore; your people have returned."

After speaking, Kanter instructed his subordinate, "Quickly bring them in, hurry."

Almost without delay, Xinfeng and his group entered the underground nuclear shelter, appearing drenched before Gao Yi.

Xinfeng and the others were covered in soot, and each person had wrapped themselves in plastic bags and covered their faces with clothes.

Volcanic ash was everywhere, carrying nuclear radiation and no longer ordinary volcanic ash.

So, entering the nuclear shelter requires cleaning first.

"They’ve been tested; they only have trace amounts of radiation. They’ve washed with soap and taken iodine pills to ensure they’re unaffected."

The soldier leading them explained for a bit, saluted Kanter, and then left.

Gao Yi opened his arms, looking relieved, "You’re finally back; it’s good to be back. I was afraid you wouldn’t know where to retreat."

Xinfeng looked nearly exhausted yet proudly said, "Are you insulting my intelligence? Of course, I knew to head to Yakoda Military Base. Except, you have no idea how we got here. Almost no transportation was available, only bikes. We had to fend off people trying to rob us, traffic was at a standstill, and we often carried bicycles while walking; everywhere was..."

Xinfeng didn’t finish; Feng Biao grinned at Gao Yi, saying proudly, "Going home, I’ll update the family tree, honor ancestors, visit the grave, hehe, hahaha..."

Feng Biao laughed with pride; Gao Yi gave him a thumbs-up, saying, "Great work, now stop talking; let’s move quickly."

Li Jie suddenly interjected, "How are you talking? You should be asking the heroes to evacuate now."

Gao Yi bowed slightly, gesturing, "Please, not two, but three heroes, move."

The Garden team was all together now, ready to evacuate. Kanter spoke urgently to his people, "The plane is ready for takeoff; there’ll be a vehicle getting you to the aircraft to minimize nuclear contamination. Once aboard, the CIA will take over."

The US Military Command is at Yakoda Airport, and Gao Yi and his team don’t need to change locations; they can board directly from Yakoda Military Base’s airport, conveniently without moving elsewhere.

Yakoda Military Base is not only home to the US Fifth Air Force Command, but also the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Headquarters.

As Gao Yi and his team saw the C5 military transport plane landing on the runway, they noticed a convoy from Japan approaching the plane from the other side.

US soldiers tried to block the convoy, but the Japan convoy displayed their guns, and two armored vehicles were quickly approaching.

Before they reached the plane, seeing this situation from afar, Kanter suddenly said, "No, something’s wrong here."
