Chapter 560: Chapter 538: There Is a Problem (Part 2)

At that moment, a nearby closed door silently opened.

A man holding a submachine gun had just slid the barrel through the crack, but Yuri had already thrown a block of C4 at his face and pressed the remote detonator.

Yuri shoved Gao Yi forward, pointing towards another adjacent door, and then dashed towards the one that had just exploded.

Lucy raised her twin pistols, clearly a little bewildered by the chaos.

It wasn’t just one room—there were occupants in three rooms, all of them ready to open fire.

Gao Yi charged toward a still-closed door. Just as he reached the threshold, the door swung open, revealing a panic-stricken man with an unsteady hand holding a pistol.

Gao Yi caught him mid-move, smashing both hand and gun with a single hammer strike.

"Ah!"

A miserable scream reverberated. The injured man, clutching his smashed hand, could only cry out, but from a gap at his side, something dark dropped to the floor. The partially open door was being shoved shut by someone.

Gao Yi launched a mid-air kick, trapping the dark object with his foot. At the moment his foot touched it, he realized it was a round, hefty M67 hand grenade.

The grenade settled firmly on Gao Yi’s foot as if rooted there. With a flick of his foot, Gao Yi sent it flying toward the closing door. Just as the grenade slipped through the gap, an ear-splitting explosion erupted inside.

The grenade had been primed, with the safety pin pulled and held for over two seconds before being thrown, but Gao Yi had sent it back with his foot.

Gao Yi’s mastery of handwork was unparalleled, and his footwork was no less exceptional—especially since he always enjoyed kicking shuttlecocks.

The grenade exploded. The door that had been slammed shut was certainly too late to lock. Gao Yi instinctively grabbed the door handle, twisted it, and slipped inside.

Behind the door were two men, lying incapacitated from the grenade’s close-range blast, though neither had succumbed fully. The room was large, filled with thick smoke obscuring visibility, but voices could still be heard shouting.

"It has nothing to do with us! It’s not my fault!"

Gao Yi shut the door behind him and turned around, seeing Yuri armed and just turning as well. The two exchanged silent glances before storming into the second intelligence room together.

Fisher was ruthless, and Xinfeng was nimble, but when Gao Yi and Yuri finished neutralizing the danger behind them and arrived at the second room, they discovered it hadn’t been cleared yet.

Gao Yi imagined the second intelligence room would be a small chamber, but he hadn’t anticipated it being a sprawling space, at least 200 square meters.

The blasted metal door lay twisted and crumpled on the ground, with three motionless bodies inside, all shot dead. Fisher and Xinfeng, however, were crouched behind an enormous computer mainframe, unable to advance further.

Xinfeng shook his head at Gao Yi.

Fisher clutched an M1911 pistol against his cheek, breathing heavily, his slight quiver betraying his state.

This turned out to be a dedicated computer room housing a powerful supercomputer mainframe.

Xinfeng murmured softly, "Wei Feng... he’s lethal."

Only now did Gao Yi notice Fisher had been shot.

Blood trickled from a small bullet hole on Fisher’s chest, off to the right. The wound was free of dirt, faintly smoky, with minimal bleeding—small enough for Gao Yi to have missed it initially.

Gao Yi nodded, tossing his hammer up and catching it instinctively.

Yuri suddenly raised his voice, "One trap after another. Wei Feng, you’re impressive—but unlucky. You still lose, and you will die."

While speaking, Yuri produced a block of C4.

Fisher shook his head at Yuri.

Fisher shrugged, reaching down to split the block of C4 in half, attaching a detonator to one portion. Then he gestured at Gao Yi to circle left and signaled Xinfeng to flank right. Finally, he glanced at Lucy, motioning her straight ahead.

The nonverbal coordination set the plan. Yuri continued, "I pity you. You’re facing the same predicament as me. Do you know the most powerless moment? It’s when your plan is flawless, but when it’s time to execute..."

Gao Yi knew Yuri’s habits well. He loved leaving sentences hanging, usually to buy time to throw explosives.

Gao Yi beckoned Yuri, signaling him to toss it over.

Yuri rounded the irregular half-block of C4 into a compact ball and lobbed it toward Gao Yi, continuing, "It’s during execution when someone inevitably holds you back—especially when betrayed. The perfect opportunity, the sure success gets buried by a bunch of greedy cowards drawn to power and profit."

Yuri nodded, and Gao Yi suddenly flung the half-block of C4 outward.

Gao Yi was unmatched in throwing projectiles.

The compact sphere sped toward a spot where people were likely hiding. Yuri immediately hit the detonator. With a deafening explosion, the room plunged into total darkness.

But just as the lights dimmed, the emergency backup lighting kicked in within half a second, flooding the room with brightness again.

Gao Yi advanced on the left, Xinfeng on the right, and Lucy charged aggressively in the middle, twin pistols blazing.

Gao Yi, hammer in hand, ignored all obstacles ahead. He didn’t detour or slow down—bounding over obstacles on the ground, leaping onto a long conference table, sprinting, then vaulting onto a two-meter-tall mainframe before jumping down.

A burly man sporting a ridiculous mustache stared at Gao Yi in fear. The bespectacled man beside him swiftly raised his gun, firing at Gao Yi mid-air.

Quick.

But not as quick as Gao Yi.

Living through explosions, firefights, and close combat—if Wei Feng could still strike Gao Yi at this point, Gao Yi wouldn’t deserve his position as the leader of the Inner Five Permanent.

Brains couldn’t compete with Gao Yi’s deadly Kung Fu—that was his edge.

Gao Yi’s hammer descended faster. As it struck the barrel at the exact moment a bullet fired, the recoil was barely noticeable before the hammer slammed through, knocking the pistol out of hand.

It was only then that Gao Yi landed.

Upon touchdown, Gao Yi swung his left hand, back-slapping the mustached man’s chin. With a sharp crack, the man collapsed, incapacitated. Gao Yi followed up with a kick, meeting the bespectacled gunman’s raised leg.

Late to strike but ahead in force—Gao Yi’s delayed kick revealed his foe’s sharp reflexes and impressive skill.

But it didn’t matter. Wei Feng’s ankle seemed drawn to Gao Yi’s sole, his powerful kick backfiring as the impact magnified his injury.

One slap, one leg strike. Gao Yi hesitated briefly—should he bring his hammer down and finish it?

Should he leave this one alive or crush them completely?

It was indeed a dilemma.
