Chapter 559: Chapter 538: There Is a Problem

There’s definitely no normal person in the Garden.

When the door opened and they walked in, Gao Yi finally gained a clear understanding of the team he was leading.

Fisher was walking to Gao Yi’s front left, Xinfeng to his front right, Yuri slightly behind him to the left, and Lucy—well, she hadn’t drawn her gun yet. Not having her gun out made her seem the most normal of the group, so she took position behind Gao Yi to the right.

Just five people, charging aggressively toward the second Intelligence Bureau room.

Someone stepped out of an office along the way, their face marked by the fatigue of an all-nighter. When they opened the door, they were greeted by a group of intimidating individuals storming through, and froze in place immediately.

This was the Intelligence Bureau—outsiders couldn’t get in. Yet not only had these strangers made it inside, they each looked deadly serious and ready for a fight.

Fisher pointed a finger at the man who had just stepped out and gestured for silence. His stride didn’t falter as he continued forward.

The office worker stood rooted in place, dumbfounded. Their expression was one of utter confusion. Luckily, as someone employed at such a secretive agency, even someone in a desk job was seasoned enough to know what to do in moments like these.

Fisher stopped in front of an unmarked door. He nodded and then drew a pistol from his waistband.

Xinfeng followed suit, drawing his gun, and Yuri did the same.

Finally, Gao Yi reached for his Iron Hammer.

And Lucy, at last, pulled out her twin pistols.

With the pistols in her hands, Lucy transformed instantly into a Berserker. Without waiting for the others to act, she took two running steps from the back and launched herself forward, stomping onto the door with force.

Lucy was showing increasingly violent tendencies. Or rather, she was becoming more direct. It was understandable, though—when Gao Yi deployed her, he clearly didn’t require her to overthink.

With a dull "bang," the door didn’t budge—not even a tremor.

Fisher exclaimed in surprise, "It’s bulletproof—"

Before he could finish, two bulges suddenly appeared on the door.

All their eyes widened instantly.

And in a flash, everyone sidestepped, moving out of the line of fire.

"They’re prepared inside!"

"Somebody fired!"

"Good thing it’s a bulletproof door..."

"Blast it open!"

Their reactions varied, but Gao Yi was definitely relieved Lucy’s kick hadn’t managed to bring the door down; otherwise, she would’ve been shot as soon as she barged in.

The people inside were on high alert—they fired at the first sign of trouble. But, truth be told, their instincts were sharp, yet their experience seemed... lacking.

That level of skill was exactly what you’d expect from operatives trained in the Intelligence Bureau: professional, but long confined to office work.

Forget blowing up an entire office; just focus on blasting the door.

Yuri reached into the small pack he carried, pulling out a block of C4. With a slap, he stuck it on the lock and casually inserted a detonator into it.

"Three locks. Metal door instead of bulletproof panels. We need to make sure the door blows off without deforming too much to prevent entry," Yuri explained.

Yuri had used a standard elongated block of C4, while Fisher, talking as he moved, stepped up, snapped off a piece from another block, and stuck it higher on the door. Then, tearing off a smaller piece, he stuck it lower on the door.

With the pieces placed within half a meter of each other, one detonator was sufficient to set off all three blocks of C4 in a chain reaction.

Everyone quickly retreated, moving back about five or six meters. Yuri pressed a button, and with a loud "boom," the relatively modest-sized metal door vanished.

The entire building was suddenly filled with wailing alarms.

Not even World War II had caused this much commotion in the CIA’s headquarters.

Then again, to be fair, the Lanli headquarters didn’t exist back during World War II either.

With the door blown open, Gao Yi hefted his hammer and began walking toward the shattered doorway.

No rushing—nobody was in a hurry to storm in at this point. They weren’t Special Forces trained in room clearing, so there was no need for dramatic poses or tactics.

The group strolled leisurely into the second Intelligence Bureau room.

Fisher led the way. He didn’t bother peeking in but, instead, extended an arm and fired two shots blindly into the doorway.

Naturally, he didn’t hit anyone—there was no one visible to aim at. After firing the two shots, Fisher raised his voice slightly: "Drop your weapons and surrender, or else—"

It seemed like a routine warning shot followed by a formal demand for surrender, but halfway through the line, Fisher suddenly lowered his posture and lunged inside.

This guy never stopped surprising people.

He looked so disheveled and laid-back most of the time, yet in action, he was unbelievably fierce.

As Fisher hunched and slipped in, a shot rang out—followed swiftly by another as he hit the ground.

Meanwhile, bursts of submachine gun fire riddled the walls outside the hallway.

The people inside were armed with submachine guns and ready to shoot, yet somehow, Fisher managed to sneak his way in anyway.

Sneak—not charge.

Another sharp crack of a gunshot, and the submachine gun fire abruptly stopped.

By the time Fisher had fired three times, Xinfeng finally entered with his weapon raised, while Lucy simply shook her head, her face exasperated.

Yuri, standing at the doorway, spread his hands as he looked toward Gao Yi, a wide grin on his face.

"That was almost too easy. Wait," Yuri muttered suddenly.

Gao Yi was just about to step into the room when Yuri’s words made him pause mid-step.

Yuri sighed wistfully, saying, "The CIA sure has a lot of talent."

Even as he spoke, Yuri’s hands didn’t idle. He pulled out two more blocks of C4 from his pack, inserting a remote electric detonator into one. Peeling off the safety cap from the detonator’s wiring, he connected it to the power source. At the press of the remote in his hand, it would be ready to explode immediately.
