Chapter 461: Chapter 441: Premeditation
Frankfurt.
Disseminating and then converging; for an assassin organization, it’s no challenge at all. If Dani and Sith were intercepted or even killed en route, it would simply suggest that they were too weak—deservingly met their ends.
Even Gao Yi, a semi-rookie, can travel around smoothly and with ease; not to mention Dani and Sith.
In fact, Sith and Dani arrived in Frankfurt even earlier than Gao Yi and had even prepared a lodging place for him in advance.
Actually, Garden has a safehouse in Frankfurt.
What is called an intelligence center? Frankfurt’s situation is just that. France has a safehouse here, the UK has one too, and even the small assassin organization, Garden, has its own safehouse.
But since Dani arrived first, they convened at the place he designated. There’s nothing to argue about. If they were discovered and besieged, then blame would fall on Dani’s head, and it would be up to Military Intelligence Sixth Department to deal with it.
The meeting point was a hotel chosen by Dani. They checked into their individual rooms, and no particularly complex measures were taken. They simply went to one person’s room to meet and discuss matters.
The room was not large, and the relationships among them weren’t exactly cordial. Anyway, Sith and Dani always seemed at odds with each other. So, when the three of them came together, there was no need for small talk; they went straight to business.
"The reason we came to Frankfurt is because I have a more important target to eliminate," Gao Yi said.
Gao Yi took out his phone, brought up the photo extracted from the Xinfeng file, held it in his hand, and showed it to both of them at the same time.
Sith nodded, and Dani quickly followed suit. This gesture signified that they had memorized the person in the photo. But Gao Yi felt that Sith truly remembered it, while Dani might have just nodded for the sake of his dignity.
This small subtlety was something Gao Yi could grasp now, so even though both of them had nodded, Gao Yi continued to hold up his phone and said, "Take a look, remember him."
He waited another four or five seconds, until Dani impatiently waved his hand, and then Gao Yi put away the phone.
Now Dani truly remembered him.
"This man is named Wisdom Hamilton, 43 years old, American, 1.77 meters tall, and weighs approximately seventy kilograms."
Adding to the details not fully displayed in the photo, Gao Yi delivered seriously, "Unlike the previous targets, this man has to die, and as soon as possible. No matter the cost, he must be eliminated."
Sith nodded again, while Dani spread his hands, indicating his confusion.
If they say they must eliminate someone at all costs, it suggests that this is not merely an assassins’ mission, but it’s due to some other reason.
Gao Yi said seriously, "I must tell you that he’s a CIA agent. If eliminating him will make things difficult for you, tell me now, so you don’t have to participate in this operation."
Sith has France backing him, and Dani is backed by Military Intelligence Sixth Department. Eliminating a CIA agent might drag their respective supporters into trouble.
So, they couldn’t be completely kept in the dark; things that needed to be said had to be put forward.
At this point, Sith appeared to be slightly hesitant.
But Dani was much quicker this time.
"I have no relationship with the UK, nor with Military Intelligence Sixth Department. I am just myself, only representing my own interests, so I don’t have a problem," Dani stated first and then looked at Sith with disdain.
Sith’s hesitation didn’t last long. After Dani’s position was made clear, he finally nodded and said, "I don’t represent France; I have no problem participating in this operation. CIA personnel aren’t an issue for me."
"Very well, uh, he’s quite important to the CIA. Still no problem?" Gao Yi asked.
It wasn’t to both of them that he spoke; he was only looking at Sith—this was more like silent prodding.
"Still no problem."
Gao Yi nodded and continued, "Wisdom works at the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt. He works five days a week, always on time for work and leaving on time. I know his home address and his regular route to work. His working hours are from nine-thirty in the morning to five in the afternoon. He never works overtime but also never leaves early. His annual leave is from December first to February first the following year. He often takes days off and disappears for a while, but since he didn’t call out today, he will definitely go to work tomorrow. Okay, that’s all the information."
Dani whistled softly, "Two months of fixed annual leave every year, when has CIA work become so leisurely."
"Regular and punctual—killing him is going to be too easy. At his home entrance, halfway, at his office door—just pick any spot to strike," Sith said indifferently.
Once more, Gao Yi reminded them, "Let me remind you, this man is formidable, extremely formidable."
Dani said seriously, "That contradicts the information you provided. If an agent is very punctual in going to and from work, then he is either not important or not formidable."
Sith pursed his lips and commented, "Multiple layers of disguise."
Suddenly, Dani became angry because he intended to say that himself, but Sith said it first, which made it seem as if he didn’t understand.
"Hasn’t anyone ever told you that interrupting others is very rude?"
Dani expressed his gentlemanly protest to Sith.
Sith ignored Dani completely.
Immediately, Dani quickly said, "So if the target is a master of multiple disguises, then he either believes that it’s absolutely impossible for his identity to be exposed, or he is extremely confident in his security measures."
Gao Yi spread his hands and said, "So what?"
"So the simple approach clearly won’t work, nor will the conventional tactics. We have two choices: a siege with overwhelming advantage or a sudden assault without any warning. I think the latter is better. We lay in wait near his home tomorrow, and the moment he steps out, we take action and kill him without warning."
These were the words of Dani, a former expert from Military Intelligence Sixth Department. His thoughts were not much different from Gao Yi’s.
Direct approach, with absolutely no preliminary preparations, a forceful onslaught.
Sith spoke softly, "Be more specific with the information. Where does the target live, which route does he take?"
The best moment to act is right as the target exits his house, next best would be on the way, and the messiest would be right in front of his workplace.
Gao Yi took out a tablet, entered the address on a map. This was also his first time viewing Xinfeng’s exact residence, which he reviewed together with Dani and Sith.
Upon seeing the location on the map, Dani and Sith almost simultaneously made their decision.
"Forget about acting near his home, let’s do it near his workplace instead."
Dani spoke first, and Sith also shook his head, saying, "The doorstep won’t work."
This time, without needing anyone else’s explanation, Gao Yi understood why it was not feasible to act at Xinfeng’s doorstep.
It was because the target lived too remotely. He didn’t reside in the city but near the northeastern edge of Frankfurt, close to Luo’erberg Mountain, with no other buildings around and far from the main road, standing isolated.
For Gao Yi and his team, it was more convenient to strike in a bustling city area.
A spy that lives far from the urban areas and crowds would be extremely sensitive to his surroundings. If Gao Yi and his team approached, they would most likely be exposed.
Just from Xinfeng’s chosen residence, one could tell that he must be an extremely vigilant person, one who is accustomed to solitude, enjoys it, and relishes in it.
This type of person wouldn’t trust anyone, only himself. There could be no mistake.
No need for further explanation. This level of psychological profiling was just the basics of the basics, so Gao Yi didn’t need the two to explain. He simply said, "Then let’s strike en route. We’ll set up on the must-pass road for the target, how about here at this overpass on Route 9?"
"The traffic conditions are too complex, and the vehicle flow is too high. It’s not a good place to strike."
Dani simply objected, without suggesting a better location. In contrast, Sith tapped on the tablet and said, "Here, the target’s inevitable route. Just past a three-way junction, the road is wide with good conditions, and not much traffic. The target’s alertness will relatively weaken. We’ll choose the biggest vehicle commonly seen on this road for a head-on collision."
Dani looked and checked the data on the map, saying, "One point seven kilometers from his house, no problem. We’ll start with a collision, then I’ll use a gun to finish it off, confirm the kill and then consider biometric verification. Do we need to acquire anything? Is it necessary to preserve the face of the body undamaged?"
"No need, we don’t need anything. Just confirmation of the target’s death is enough."
Gao Yi did not need any verification, just telling Panetta that Xinfeng was dead would suffice, and this would make the operation much simpler.
Sith nodded, "I will look into the traffic volume on this road and the common vehicle types, as well as the largest permissible vehicle we can use without attracting the target’s attention. I think we have limited choices of vehicle models, and it can’t be too big. There is indeed risk involved in collision, so I’ll handle the collision."
Dani nodded, "I’ll take care of shooting."
"Then I’ll drive. Two cars will do, right?"
"Three cars."
Sith stretched out three fingers.
Dani pondered for a moment and then also nodded, "Three cars. You can’t just be responsible for driving. If the target really is an expert, his reaction speed will be far beyond the average person, and so will his driving skills. Frankly speaking, the collision isn’t a very reliable method, it’s just the simplest and most convenient way. So, we must be prepared for a secondary attack in case the target evades the initial collision."
For the first time, Dani showed his recognition of the target’s threat level.
Sith was not upset, he spoke solemnly, "The bigger the vehicle, the slower the response, and there is indeed the possibility of failure in collision. Should the collision fail, someone must attack again. Now, that’s on you."
Even an expert couldn’t guarantee a 100% success rate, ultimately Gao Yi had to act as a safety measure. He nodded and said, "Alright, we’ll all take part in the operation. Three cars, four people. If the collision fails, we initiate an attack with whatever weapons are available. Do you guys have guns? I do; if needed, I can go get them."
