Chapter 443: Chapter 423: Can’t Get Into the Role

You can tell Dani was a real badass back in the day just from his habits. His lock-picking skills are top-notch, and his plan to somersault over the gate was done so naturally. Walking down the stairs backward might look simple, but it actually requires some Kung Fu skills. Plus, his gun was always pointing in the most threatening direction.

Every bit of this showed that Dani used to be very familiar with these kinds of actions; it was like his natural instinct.

Unfortunately, he’s gained weight now.

The decline of a hero should feel tragic, but Dani getting fat just makes it seem funny.

It was fortunate that Ge didn’t witness Dani’s performance. If he had, Ge probably would have coughed up blood.

Seeing Gao Yi right next to him, Ge somehow had to save some face for Dani, so he immediately tilted his head towards Dani and said, "Let’s go."

Still three cars, driving towards their next target.

As the cars started moving, Kir whispered, "Too much noise. The police will be here soon. Are we going to ignore it or cover up for Dani?"

Ge was troubled. He sighed softly and said, "Covering for him is troublesome, but if we don’t and the police find some evidence, pointing the finger at us would be even more troublesome."

You have chosen your man, you gotta stick with him through tears.

Kir had no choice but to pull out his phone, dialed a number, and whispered after the call connected, "The incident this morning was caused by our people. Go to Scotland Yard and take over the case, saying it involves national secrets and national security. Don’t let Scotland Yard investigate further, and we have another job to do later. Find a way to ensure Military Intelligence Fifth Department doesn’t mess it up."

As the director, Kir definitely had some extrasystemic privileges to help Dani.

Since Dani couldn’t handle it himself and left traces, they had to use Kir’s privileges, or rather say, the resources of Military Intelligence Sixth Department.

They must first finish this matter anyhow before looking further.

After hanging up, Kir said helplessly, "Dani hasn’t fired a gun in what, ten years?"

"Maybe longer. As far as I remember, he never used a gun during an assassination mission. And now, on his very first operation, and a simple one at that, he ends up using a gun."

"Sigh..."

Kir sighed deeply and then somewhat helplessly said, "Is there really no better candidate?"

"No, there isn’t, and we can’t change it now. We have to help Dani finish this operation nicely, no matter what."

"Could this backfire?"

Kir’s concern was not unfounded, but Ge hesitated for a moment and said, "No worries, I have a contingency plan."

The two spoke no further.

Driving across half the city area, they even caught up with the morning rush hour traffic. By the time Kir and his team arrived, it was already nine in the morning.

By this time, everyone who needed to go to work had already gotten up, and the streets were bustling. Moreover, with two people related to Shaman being killed consecutively, even the slowest would realize Shaman might be behind it.

So the next target was very likely to be fully prepared, either by requesting police protection or having already fled.

Expecting Dani to just follow the provided address and find the person directly was nearly impossible.

To make Dani look good in front of Gao Yi, Kir and Ge had to go to great lengths, and Military Intelligence Sixth Department needed to put in a lot of effort too.

It’s like a duck appears serene swimming on the surface, but its feet are paddling furiously underneath.

"Boss, the target is leaving with six family members and four bodyguards, in three cars, headed for Heathrow Airport."

"Force them back."

The commanding officer was the squad leader Collins, who said into the walkie-talkie, hesitated for a moment, then continued: "Cut off the target’s communication. No matter what actions they take, no matter the cost, force them back inside. Pretend to be Scotland Yard to contact the target and tell them Saudi is determined to take them out. They must stay at home for their safety, saying we will protect them."

"Yes."

Collins was also frustrated handling this task.

The French acted first, having the advantage of making the first move, but it caused the Military Intelligence Sixth Department to pay a greater price to complete what was originally a very simple task.

These Fallen Princes, although in London were less significant than chickens, still had an old saying: a broken ship still has three pounds of nails.

Even in poverty, they still had a few bodyguards, and even in downfall, they had people to give them updates.

For others, a few bodyguards would mean nothing, but for Dani, they could be hard to handle, and it might even cost him his life.

These details were not directly mentioned to Dani, but being familiar with Military Intelligence Sixth Department, he understood all of this.

Looking at the car around the street corner and the two individuals who just got in, Dani felt his self-esteem severely damaged again.

Military Intelligence Sixth Department was forced to act openly. If he couldn’t quickly secure the target now, it would truly be humiliating.

With someone blocking the target from leaving the house, Dani finally had a chance to drive back to the target’s doorstep; otherwise, by the time he arrived, it would have been an empty house.

It was another villa, just bigger, and aside from being in a different block, almost nothing else had changed.

Parked the car, got out, Dani walked over to Green’s car again.

Green lowered the car window and said to Dani with a serious face: "There are fifteen people inside, four servants, four bodyguards, the target and his six family members. The bodyguards have been with the target for many years, and their loyalty won’t be an issue. Do you know what to do?"

Dani nodded, then said with a murderous tone: "I won’t leave any trouble behind. Give me an identification; I need to change the way I get in."

Green didn’t have an ID on him, but Kir did.

Kir took out a black-covered ID with a badge on it. As he handed it over, he whispered, "This is the first time in the history of Military Intelligence Sixth Department that someone uses the director’s ID to open a door. You... must bring the ID back to me!"

Dani didn’t say a word. He just caught the ID and slipped it into his pocket.

If there were a choice, who would want to create more killings?

Dani turned to glance at Gao Yi’s car. In his usual practice, he wouldn’t allow anyone to follow him as if watching him humiliate himself.

But now, Dani actually wanted to prove himself a bit more.

Luckily, he brought along his most skilled and favorite weapon; if he really operated at his former level, then it wouldn’t just be a matter of embarrassment.

He might die.

Dani tucked the short gun into his waist and then waited for Gao Yi and Sith to get out of the car before he turned and walked to the villa’s main entrance.

When Military Intelligence Sixth Department makes a move, the target must die no matter what. However, if Dani didn’t complete the task, it would still be considered a failure.

Carrying his former boss’s expectations and wagering the dignity of the Military Intelligence Sixth Department, Dani walked steadily toward the villa’s entrance.

Being old isn’t about muscle and bone. Dani hadn’t heard this saying, but he understood the principle.

After reality taught him a lesson, he quickly recognized the reality and changed his strategy accordingly.

Dani went back to the car to grab a briefcase, then reached the villa entrance, waved to Gao Yi and Sith to follow, and then pressed the doorbell on the iron gate.

Dani wasn’t climbing over walls or picking locks anymore, he chose to outsmart them.

Gao Yi and Sith exchanged a glance. Gao Yi wasn’t afraid to follow. Although Sith was reluctant to let his protected target engage in what seemed like unreliable actions to the British, he wanted to watch the drama unfold.

After pondering, weighing the risks, Sith decided not to say anything and stood behind Dani with Gao Yi.

The door didn’t open; only a Big Beard approached the iron gate cautiously, looking nervous, he asked: "Who are you!"

Dani, impatiently, responded: "Military Intelligence Sixth Department, you are in trouble. Open the door, I need to have a talk with you."

The bodyguard didn’t open the door; he remained vigilant and asked: "Where’s your ID?"

Dani took out his ID from his pocket, flashed it in front of the bodyguard, and said: "Hurry up and open the door. The assassin might have already arrived, I don’t want to stand here."

The bodyguard didn’t intend to be fooled; he remained cautious and demanded: "Open your ID, I need to take a look."

Dani, slightly surprised, then in an even more impatient tone demanded: "Get out of my way! Open this damn door, or I’m leaving right now and all consequences will be on you."

Dani’s threat still didn’t work; the bodyguard took a step back and looking extremely cautious, said: "Please leave this place!"

Gao Yi wanted to laugh, and this time, Sith couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

Sith didn’t accidentally let it slip; this time, it was intentional because he watched the top agent of Military Intelligence Sixth Department embarrass himself multiple times. If he restrained himself from mocking, he would be doing a disservice to his own background.

Sith laughed, and so Gao Yi couldn’t help but laugh out loud too.

Dani was utterly baffled, his sense of defeat made it impossible for him to maintain any facade. He couldn’t even continue the act.

How could rehearsals end up messed up?

In the end, Gao Yi and Sith, barely holding back their laughter, confused the bodyguard. Although he was extremely vigilant and nervous, he didn’t think the three people in front of him resembled assassins sent by the Saudis; they rather looked like some randomly dispatched agents from Military Intelligence Sixth Department to perfunctorily handle the matter.

The bodyguard couldn’t help asking: "What about your IDs? Show me your IDs, and if there’s no issue, I will inform the master."

Gao Yi said nothing, but Dani finally lost his patience.

"Falke you! You think you’re the master of this country? Go back to your desert! Just wait to die, you idiots! Bastards!"

Dani began to curse furiously, but this outburst made the bodyguard start to believe he really was from the Military Intelligence Sixth Department.

With a face full of humiliation, the bodyguard still said in a low voice: "Wait a moment, I’ll inform the master."

If they continued the act, it might actually have proceeded.

But Dani had already lost his patience. He suddenly pulled out his short gun from the briefcase, and roared: "Inform your beep beep beep!"

With a curse and a gunshot, this time Dani fired without even entering the door.
