Chapter 442: Chapter 422: Good-looking

Dani must have been a nifty assassin before, but not anymore.

However, his shot this time did hit quite swiftly.

In someone else’s eyes, Dani’s move might still look somewhat showy, but to Gao Yi, that’s as far as the praise goes. Swift, and that’s it.

No help for it, Gao Yi’s the real master of headshots after all.

First taking one out in the courtyard, but then encountering no obstruction upon entering the villa, Dani reached for the door, waiting for it to open successfully before swiftly slipping inside.

And then Dani’s belly smacked into the doorframe.

Gao Yi really didn’t want to laugh, but he hadn’t prepared himself not to.

"Pfft...hiss...whoops...cough cough."

It’s not about embarrassment; it’s about not making a sound while people are in the midst of killing and arson. So Gao Yi couldn’t help but laugh, then he quickly shut his mouth, but couldn’t hold it in, thus creating a weird noise.

A skinny person might have eagerly slipped through, but a fat man with a big belly obviously couldn’t. This misjudgment of his own body size was indeed quite amusing.

Dani couldn’t afford to curse at anyone; he was slightly thrown off balance by his collision, but he steadied himself, and using the rebound force of the bump, managed to approximate the motion of a sideways roll into the room.

A bang of a gunshot, followed by a loud boom.

Gunfire erupted, the first shot was the regular sound of a pistol, the second shot was a sound Gao Yi had never heard before.

Needless to say, it must be Dani with that enormous sawed-off in his hands.

And gunfire this soon?

Amateurish, simply too amateurish!

Gao Yi already had a bad feeling, thinking that Dani might have been shot by now. So, if Dani’s show-off move backfired and got him killed, it would be on Gao Yi and Sith to step in personally.

Sith kicked the half-open door before Gao Yi could, rolled on the spot, but didn’t follow up with any move, instead he quickly stepped aside to clear the entrance space.

Then Gao Yi heard a sudden yell; as he peeked inside, he saw Dani pounced on a sofa, his knee pressing down on someone, his left hand clutching the throat of the person underneath him, while his right hand was holding a gun, aiming at the staircase.

Not far from the sofa, there was a person lying on the ground with a face beyond recognition, clearly the work of Dani’s earlier shot.

No blaming Dani for firing; the man who got shot was gripping a pistol, and the one Dani was pinning down on the sofa had his hands up with a submachine gun, struggling to push Dani off.

And both men were wearing bullet-proof vests.

In such a situation, for Dani to have subdued one and killed another, and seemingly unscathed at that, was actually pretty impressive.

Not to mention that Dani was still aiming his gun at the most likely place for assailants to come from - the staircase, ready to fire at any moment.

Dani held his gun towards the staircase for a moment; when no one came down, he fired a ruthless shot, a dull thud sounded, and the man being pressed on the sofa immediately stopped struggling.

Then Dani raised his sawed-off again, aimed at the staircase once more, struggling a bit as he climbed off the body he was pressing, then with his left hand he fished out a bullet from his pocket, and with a flick of his right, he opened the break-action shotgun, stuffed in the fresh bullet with his left, ejecting the spent shell, and pushed the new one in.

With a flick of the right hand, a click rang out, and Dani completed the reloading.

Efficient reloading motion indeed, but why stick with an old break-action that only holds two rounds? Must be crazy when any other gun would be more convenient.

Having reloaded, Dani charged towards the staircase, but his ascent was rather touching.

While Dani was rushing upwards in a not-so-fast but efficient manner, Sith commented nonchalantly, "Wouldn’t his gun barrel get deformed with that kind of slamming?"

To ponder such matters in this moment, Sith sure had a lot of leisure time on his hands.

Gao Yi wasn’t in the mood for such discussions; he just felt since Dani had already opened fire, it must have alarmed those upstairs. If there were more guards, Dani’s action of charging up might not be very safe.

Better prepare for personal action.

"This guy has no concept of his current body size, his self-awareness must have stayed a few years behind..."

Gao Yi muttered to himself, unable to help it.

As a martial artist, Gao Yi might ignore everything else, but he would always have a crystal clear understanding of his own physical condition.

It’s okay to be slow, okay to be weak, but you’ve got to know how slow and weak you really are. Dani not even being clear about this only shows how washed-up he is now.

Right then, some noise came from upstairs, Dani didn’t stop, but sped up instead.

Gao Yi didn’t even know if he should follow him up.

Dani quickly disappeared around the corner of the staircase, followed by a loud crash from upstairs, the sound of a kick flinging a door open; just as Gao Yi’s foot touched the staircase, he saw Dani rushing back out in a hurry.

Dani was dragging a man in pajamas upstairs; his face toward the rear, Dani retreated down the steps, using the man as a shield in his left hand, while his right hand was aiming the gun forward.

It’s hard to say about other things, but this method of retreating downstairs is quite rare and impressive.

Unfortunately, Dani was not one for compliments. Just as Gao Yi internally praised Dani, he saw Dani’s foot miss a step, and his whole body toppled backward.

Dani reacted quickly. Having completely lost his balance, he no longer tried to regain it. As he fell backward, he arched his back and stretched his head forward to prevent his head from hitting the stairs.

He slid headfirst down the stairs, but Dani didn’t let go. He dragged the man down with him, his right hand’s gun still pointed up the staircase.

With a loud thud, Dani landed on his back. Then he let go, pulled himself from underneath the man he’d been holding, and slammed his gun down. The man he’d dragged stopped struggling after the blow, and Dani swiftly got up, supporting himself with one hand.

But this time, Dani didn’t dare retreat downstairs anymore. He still held onto the now still man, but he turned his body to the side.

It was actually quite humorous.

Finally, Dani made it downstairs, dragging the man over to Gao Yi, then said with a stern face, "The target is here, confirm it."

Gao Yi looked at the person Dani dragged down, although he couldn’t recognize him.

A bushy black beard made it hard to discern his face, and since Shaman had provided a long list, Gao Yi hadn’t paid much attention.

Gao Yi took a glance, not seeing clearly, but he heard Sith speaking from the side, "That’s him, no mistake."

Dani ignored Sith, his gun still aimed at the stairs, and kept his gaze fixed on Gao Yi.

Gao Yi trusted Sith’s judgment, so he nodded, "That’s right, it’s him."

Without hesitation, the moment he heard Gao Yi’s confirmation, Dani used his gun to smash the back of the man’s head.

Seeing the target’s skull cave in, clearly dead beyond doubt, Dani then said to Gao Yi, "Target killed, mission completed."

Sith couldn’t help but say, "Aren’t you worried about deforming the barrel?"

Dani didn’t reply but raised his gun towards Sith, aiming directly at Sith’s eyes.

Sith nodded in realization.

Dani just raised the gun, then immediately turned to cover the staircase entrance, "Let’s move fast!"

Gao Yi couldn’t help asking, "What does this mean? What’s going on?"

If Gao Yi didn’t leave, Dani would have to cover their retreat, so he urged, "Go!"

Gao Yi had no choice but to jog out with Sith, but as they ran, Gao Yi asked again, "What does this mean?"

"This is a thick, heavy-duty barrel. Although it’s still a 12-gauge, it can handle bullets with a larger charge. It’s an elephant hunting gun. The barrel is at least five millimeters thick, more than double that of an ordinary shotgun, and the locking mechanism is reinforced. So, he can use the gun as a steel pipe to hit things without worrying about deforming the barrel," Sith explained.

In the midst of everything, with professional finesse, Sith kept watch for potential interceptors or followers as they retreated, while also calmly explaining to Gao Yi why Dani’s gun could take a beating without damage.

Sith escorted Gao Yi ahead, with Dani closely following behind.

As the three men left the villa and ran back to the car, Green, who had the window down and wore an anxious expression, whispered, "Why the gunfire!"

Dani, visibly irritated, said, "You didn’t say the target was prepared!"

Green, equally annoyed, retorted, "The French have already made a move in Paris, killing one. Of course, the target might have been alerted. Did you get fat-headed along with your body? Do I really need to remind you of such simple logic?"

Dani was left speechless by the reproach, stating only the facts.

"The target’s bodyguard wore a bullet-proof vest and opened fire first. I had no choice but to shoot," Dani justified, but not wanting to dwell, he quickly added, "Time!"

"One minute and forty seconds. Okay, you didn’t go overtime, but... well done," Green conceded, giving Dani some face before lowering his voice, "There’s one more! Can you handle it?"

The implication was clear. The first was prepared, and the second likely as well. And with one dead, the second target might flee or resort to heavier protection. Green was implying that they shouldn’t end up showing their asses while trying to show their faces.

Dani, less cocky now but still confident, declared, "I’ve got my groove back, no problem."

Gao Yi listened intently from the side but said nothing.

After all, Military Intelligence Sixth Department was seeking to impress Gao Yi and save face. If Dani lost face, they’d have to figure out how to regain it.

Gao Yi was content to watch the show.

Indeed, watching Dani perform was much more interesting than just watching a show, and funnier too.
