Chapter 185: Chapter 173 Still the Wind Vane
Five people had gathered, and it was time to head for the Green Zone.
But there was a problem: where was Feng Biao?
"Where’s Wind Vane?"
Logically, Lin Xianghua and Feng Biao were supposed to work as a team, supporting each other’s combat positions. But now that Gao Yi had arrived, where was Feng Biao?
As it turned out, although Lin Xianghua disliked Feng Biao, it was at the most dangerous times that he worried about him the most.
That’s just how it was with those who came from a mercenary background; without logistics or reinforcements, comrades needed to look out for each other. Otherwise, they wouldn’t survive in their line of work.
"Old Feng injured his leg. He went for treatment, and Prince Hamman was supposed to bring him over. But now that Abdulla has been abducted, I don’t know if Shaman is still willing to release Old Feng."
Gao Yi felt helpless. Everything had been settled, and under Feng Biao’s ass-kissing assault, Shaman had been all too happy to come down the slope, even if they couldn’t turn enemies into friends, they could become familiar foes, of a sort.
However, Harold’s cohorts had boldly made their move, and now Feng Biao’s fate was uncertain.
Gao Yi checked his watch and said, "Let’s go to the Green Zone first."
"Hey, hey! You guys! Boss!"
As Gao Yi and the others hurried away, several loud shouts came from behind. Gao Yi turned to see Feng Biao sitting in a wheelchair, surrounded by at least a dozen people catering to him like a VIP, all escorting him over.
The group was impressive and they didn’t look like agents from the National Intelligence Bureau; rather, they resembled servants or followers.
Everyone was taken aback.
"I just came out from the VIP passage and was about to ask for a phone to contact you when I saw you," Feng Biao said excitedly.
Gao Yi opened his mouth slightly, staring at Feng Biao, whose leg was wrapped with a bandage.
"Surprised to see me like this? Haha, His Highness is a man of his word. He had me stitched up, and I flew here while still receiving blood transfusions..."
Feng Biao’s expression wasn’t one of pride; he was simply excited to have escaped danger. But seeing the looks on Gao Yi and the others, Feng Biao trailed off mid-sentence.
"Boss, what happened to your butt, why does it look like you’ve bled even more than me?"
Gao Yi sighed and said, "You don’t know?"
"Know what?"
"Abdulla has been kidnapped."
Feng Biao’s face changed immediately, "Damn! Was it on our watch or theirs?"
"It was on theirs. I handed him over to them, and then he was abducted."
Feng Biao let out a long sigh of relief, looking relieved as he said, "Well, that’s a relief. It’s their fault for being incompetent, it’s got nothing to do with us. Otherwise, we would be in serious trouble."
Lin Xianghua looked at Feng Biao’s leg, expressing his concern, "Your leg..."
"My leg is fine, oh, I bandaged it myself."
Pointing back at the group, Feng Biao had a bitter expression, "These people are here to serve me on the Prince’s orders, not to monitor me."
Gao Yi nodded respectfully at the person in front, saying earnestly, "Thank you."
Feng Biao smacked his lips, showing reluctance, "I was thinking of enjoying the perks, but under the circumstances, it doesn’t seem right. Let them go; we should leave too."
"Um, yeah, there’s something else I haven’t told you."
After a moment of thought, figuring out how best to phrase it, Gao Yi continued, "We’re going to try to get Abdulla back. Everything’s nearly arranged now. Whether it’s possible, we don’t know, but we have to try."
Feng Biao’s facial muscles twitched a couple of times, then he sighed, "My luck, always destined for hard times and toil. Well, let’s go then."
"You don’t have to; what’s an injured man to do in the thick of things? I see now, the Prince really is a man of his word. So let him send you on his private plane."
Gao Yi had made up his mind; he wanted Feng Biao to cling tightly to Prince Shaman’s coattails.
Right now, Feng Biao was acting as a buffer between Gao Yi and Shaman, a firewall, because Shaman seemed to have an exceptional fondness for Feng Biao. Continuing to use Shaman’s plane would be seen as a friendly gesture, a sign of trust.
If Shaman truly came to regard Feng Biao favorably, then even if the rescue mission for Abdulla failed, perhaps the Prince would consider Feng Biao’s face and let the Sky Garden folks off.
Gao Yi’s plan was solid, but Feng Biao didn’t see it the same way.
"Boss, I don’t think this is right, this isn’t the way to do it."
Feng Biao inched his wheelchair forward as the servants behind him rushed to help, but he gestured for them not to and had everyone step back. Then, moving closer to Gao Yi, he whispered, "Prince Shaman appreciates me, and that’s why I have to make even more of an effort now. Think about it, we didn’t lose Abdulla, but we’re going all out, even with an injured man like me, to find him. That shows we prioritize the Prince’s business, we’re committed. The Prince has got to appreciate that gesture, right?"
"That does sound reasonable."
Feng Biao sighed and said, "And don’t think I’m useless just because I’m injured. I mean, as a sniper, I don’t need to run around. Without a sniper, I’m not at ease with the operation."
Gao Yi forced a smile and said, "Our opponent is the CIA, and the place is the Green Zone..."
"Ah, this, this..."
Feng Biao was shocked once again.
After hesitating for a moment, Feng Biao reluctantly smiled and said, "I’m convinced, the level of our opponents keeps rising. But there’s no other way, dealing with the CIA, I need to step in."
Gao Yi hesitated for a moment before finally saying, "Okay, we’ll head to the Green Zone, but is your leg okay?"
"No problem."
Feng Biao turned around and addressed the group behind him, "You don’t need to follow me anymore. Get going, all of you."
"We can’t mix with Prince Shaman’s men; if someone starts tracking us, it won’t be easy to move."
To rescue Abdulla, they had no choice but to put Feng Biao, the injured, into action.
Gao Yi was curious, he couldn’t help asking, "What exactly did you do when you were with Prince Shaman? How did he let you go?"
Feng Biao smiled proudly and said, "I claimed my turban was a bomb, gave him a little scare."
"Did the Prince believe it?"
"He had no choice but to believe. Would he dare to test it?"
"Did he eventually find out?"
"He did."
Feng Biao sighed and said, "Prince Shaman really is someone who does big things. After he found out, he didn’t get furious. He even praised me for my bravery. Honestly, that sort of magnanimity is pretty rare."
Lin Xianghua couldn’t help asking, "What exactly did you do?"
Feng Biao recounted, with pride, the incident with Prince Shaman, and unusually for him, he didn’t exaggerate or boast about his prowess. Even though he spoke the truth, it still sounded implausible.
Gao Yi listened with awe, and besides expressing admiration, there really wasn’t much else to say.
The nickname Wind Vane seemed like it might need a change.
After Feng Biao finished proudly telling his story, he eagerly said, "What do you think? Did I do well this time? Wasn’t I brave and strategic? Shouldn’t I be called something other than Wind Vane now?"
Lin Xianghua immediately asked, "What would you like to be called?"
Lin Xianghua truly respected him, feeling that the nickname Wind Vane implied Feng Biao would run at the first sign of danger. Since Feng Biao had truly earned their respect this time, it seemed right to change his nickname.
However, Gao Yi disagreed.
"Why change it? Wind Vane is pretty good as it is."
Gao Yi was puzzled, saying, "Having a keen sense of danger, knowing when to fight and when to retreat, such an ability is precious for an assassin. Why change it?"
Luca finally said, "Right, if we had someone like you before...well, things might not have ended up like this, right?"
If the Garden had had a Wind Vane before, someone who could detect an impending crisis, maybe it wouldn’t have fallen to its current state.
Feng Biao was a bit confused, while Li Jie also wondered, "I think Wind Vane is really good though. It’s a neutral term, and if it was derogatory in the past, from now on it will be a term of praise. Wind Vane, isn’t that a powerful nickname?"
Feng Biao was still a bit perplexed.
After a moment’s hesitation, Feng Biao asked softly, "So I... still go by Wind Vane?"
"Yes, still Wind Vane. From now on, that’s your name, Brother Feng. Congratulations on proving your worth, from now on you’ll get a share of the proceeds, just like Ah Gui."
Rewards and punishments must be clear. Feng Biao’s performance had been perfect, and from now on, he would be a trusted member of their own, certainly deserving of a share of the profits.
Feng Biao chuckled, a heartfelt laugh.
The approval from the boss, the recognition from his peers, the transformation from veiled contempt to admiration and reverence—in Feng’s mind, this time it was truly worth it.
It was as if the perpetual feeling of not being able to lift his head had finally been swept away.
Just as Feng Biao was about to share some of his feelings, the call Gao Yi had been waiting for arrived.
Grins spoke with serious tone, "Good news, the boss of my boss’s boss has agreed to cooperate. Now, I am ordered to help you."
Gao Yi finally relaxed.
"How do we proceed, did you find anything?" asked Gao Yi.
Grins exhaled softly and said, "Yes, it’s very complicated, probably harder than you think. Let’s meet in person. I’ll send someone to pick you guys up. You’ll enter the Green Zone discreetly, that’s it."
