Ultimate Firepower -
Chapter 184 - 172: Chaos
Chapter 184: Chapter 172: Chaos
Two floors, a height of five or six meters, Gao Yi just jumped when he said he would.
At the moment his feet touched the ground, he rolled forward to dissipate the force and then immediately stood back up, with just a bit of dirt on his clothes and nothing else amiss.
Mu Tianwen, watching from the cabin door as Gao Yi stylishly made his exit, finally showed an extremely shocked expression.
"Kung Fu! Wow! Kung Fu!"
For the first time, Mu Tianwen jumped up, excitedly exclaiming to his father and the butler, "Big brother really knows Kung Fu, I knew it, he’s so awesome!"
As the words flowed smoothly from Mu Tianwen’s mouth, Gao Yi felt somewhat embarrassed.
But what Gao Yi didn’t realize was that after being thoroughly shaken by Mu Tianwen, his action of jumping out of the airplane had turned Mu Tianwen into the image of what a fourteen-year-old boy should be.
Hearing the cries of astonishment and excitement behind him, Gao Yi looked back, puzzled.
It was just a jump, and as long as you had feet, oh no, as long as you had feet, it was manageable. Was that something to make a fuss about?
Gao Yi took a few steps outside and took out his phone, dialing Grins’s number.
"Buddy, I’ve got something to discuss with you, are you interested in spoiling the CIA’s fun? That is, giving Prince Shaman a hand."
Gao Yi didn’t know how to broach the subject because not long ago, he was desperately seeking a way to get close to Shaman, with ill intentions.
Now, on the other hand, he had to serve Shaman and even seek help from the Secret Action Bureau.
Life is indeed unpredictable.
Sure enough, Grins responded with bewilderment, "What? You... you’re on Shaman’s side again?"
"Sort of."
Grins sighed deeply.
Gao Yi, somewhat embarrassed, said, "You guys were reluctant to offend Shaman before, so now, would you like to help him?"
"Buddy, we won’t offend Shaman, but we can’t help him either."
Gao Yi whispered, "Wait, just wait."
Gao Yi hung up on Grins. He felt the call was too abrupt.
He hadn’t even discussed the benefits; how could he directly ask someone for help?
It was his reputation at stake and his favors spent, which, crucially, were not so useful in such major matters.
Being the middleman meant that everyone involved in the affair had to benefit. It had to be a win-win situation for things to smoothly proceed.
Gao Yi dialed Prince Shaman’s number again.
"Your Highness, what benefits can you offer the Pentagon?"
Shaman pondered, "The Pentagon?"
"The Pentagon’s Defense Clandestine Service, I think we need their help. Otherwise, it’s not easy for us to deal with the CIA, but things like this require benefits."
Shaman thought for a moment and then said, "We have many large orders this year, including a twenty-billion-dollar F-15QA fighter jet order. If the Pentagon helps me, this procurement will go smoothly; if they don’t, then there will be no order."
Was he playing that big?
A twenty-billion-dollar order?
Shaman continued indifferently, "We also have plans to add twenty-five billion dollars’ worth of air-to-air missiles. There are four suppliers in the United States competing for this order. Tell them, if they help me, the supplier can be designated by them."
Shaman couldn’t rely on Gao Yi for ties to the United States because, though the money for these military procurements seemed to buy arms, in reality, it was protection money paid to the United States.
But paying protection money was a matter between nations, a matter of the big picture.
However, who earned that protection money was a small matter within the big picture.
Among those making arms, there were also groups like Boeing and Lockheed Martin jostling in the United States.
Hearing Shaman’s words, Gao Yi believed tying the Secret Action Bureau into this affair was a done deal.
Gao Yi finally realized that the person he was speaking with controlled a country, and a particularly wealthy country at that. This sudden awareness that he was dealing with an influential figure was quite marvelous.
"Okay, I’ll get in touch with them."
If not for Abdulla, Shaman would never have deigned to look Grins in the eye in his life, let alone let Grins have a say in deciding who would win a multi-billion-dollar procurement.
Of course, Gao Yi was also part of this improbability.
But by hijacking for a bit, he ended up in touch with a real power broker; it felt like he’d inadvertently hit the jackpot.
With a mixture of anxiety and unease, Gao Yi dialed Grins’s number again.
Waiting for Grins to answer, Gao Yi whispered, "Buddy, I’m at Baghdad Airport. I just finished talking with Prince Shaman. The prince said that if you help him, there will be a twenty-five-billion-dollar military procurement for which your bosses can designate the supplier. You know what I mean, right? That means whoever your boss’ boss decides to buy from, His Highness will buy the missiles from them!"
Gao Yi worried that Grins might not understand. In fact, Grins indeed didn’t.
"What?"
Hearing the confusion in Grins’s voice, Gao Yi knew he hadn’t understood.
So Gao Yi whispered, "Kickbacks, man! Are you dense? On a twenty-five-billion-dollar order, whoever your boss says gets it, they get it! How much kickback is that going to earn? Ten percent, or maybe two hundred and fifty million?!"
Unconsciously, Gao Yi had started using honorifics for Shaman.
But Grins gasped sharply.
"Sss... how did you... just get... involved with someone like Shaman? You’re saying whoever you choose gets the order can really get it?"
The incredulity in Grins’s voice was palpable over the phone.
"It’s not me... just hurry up and make the contact!"
Why not claim it was himself? If he could take credit, why not go for it!
Grins’s voice trembled, "You have to give me some evidence, right? You can’t expect me to believe whatever you say. Not that I don’t! But how am I supposed to convince my boss’s boss’s boss?"
"I... just ask what you can do and see how you perform. If you really pull it off, His Highness will personally contact your boss’s boss’s boss. How about that?"
Grins took a deep breath, then released it long and sighed before whispering, "You have to tell me what’s going on, buddy!"
In shock, Gao Yi said in a low voice, "The deputy director of the National Intelligence Bureau, Abdulla, was kidnapped by me. He is a close confidant of His Highness, but when I was going to return him to His Highness in Baghdad, he was snatched away. The CIA did it, under the order of His Highness’s opponents. Now we can’t let the CIA interrogate Abdulla. Do you understand what I’m saying?"
"Wardfa! You’re really good, you’re awesome!"
Grins showed he was impressed, then said, quivering, "I will have to report this. For now, I will send someone to check out the CIA side. But they’re inside the embassy, and it won’t be easy for you to kill Abdulla, and it would be even harder for us to act, leading to a fallout between the CIA and the Secret Action Bureau with serious consequences. All I can say is I’ll try."
Gao Yi was surprised and said, "Rescue, it’s a rescue, not killing Abdulla."
"You’re still saying that?"
"Uh... It’s a rescue operation. You have to say that to your boss too. Anyway, you can’t say it’s a silencing operation, no no no, it can’t be called an assassination. It must only be a rescue operation."
"Alright, I’m going to report it right now, but I can’t guarantee anything on such matters. I’ll send someone to check out the situation. This is a big deal, buddy; I’m on it!"
Grins was definitely in disarray.
He was in disarray, though he tried to maintain a calm tone, the content of his speech was indeed chaotic.
Gao Yi hung up the phone.
Looking at the abandoned vehicles on the airport runway, along with the car full of corpses, Gao Yi considered whether to drive out or walk.
At least ten minutes had passed, involving gunfire and kidnapping, yet the airport had made no response. If it wasn’t for the airport side being too slow to react, then they wanted to delay, trying as much as possible not to get involved.
One side was Prince Shaman, the other was the CIA, given Iraq’s current occupied status, they couldn’t afford to offend either. Better to play dead.
Just then, Gao Yi’s phone rang.
It was Luca calling.
"We’ve landed."
"Excellent!"
Gao Yi flew first, but his plane took a big detour, while Luca and the others left much later. But they didn’t take detours, so they arrived not much later than Gao Yi.
"I’m also at Baghdad Airport. Hurry, let’s meet up; we’ve got big things to handle!"
Luca and the others didn’t know what had happened afterward; Gao Yi could only mention the essentials. He opened the car door, pulled the driver’s corpse out, sat down, started the car, and while sitting on the blood-stained leather seat, said, "I’ll drive over, wait for me at the terminal exit."
Driving away from the airport, the soldiers at the gate didn’t need Gao Yi’s signal; they actively opened it for him.
Gao Yi drove to the terminal exit. The armed guards initially approached him aggressively but changed their minds when their radios crackled a few times, then the fully-armed airport security turned and walked away.
Wherever Gao Yi went, people scurried away.
Gao Yi became anxious and shouted at two soldiers who turned to flee, "Hold it! Don’t go, you..."
Hearing Gao Yi’s shouts, the two men changed from walking to running.
Gao Yi reluctantly stopped, then watched as Luca and the three others came out of the terminal.
Gao Yi was sitting in blood; his trousers were soaked through. Luca was shocked upon seeing this, and Lin Xianghua immediately asked, "Boss, what happened to your butt?"
Lucy didn’t say anything, she just looked a bit tense.
"It’s not my blood. Listen up, there’s been a change of plans; we... we will collaborate with the National Intelligence Bureau, with help from the Defense Clandestine Service, to snatch Abdulla back from the CIA’s clutches."
A series of terms caused their faces to change.
Li Jie’s mouth dropped slightly, saying, "Are we playing this big? No, isn’t the National Intelligence Bureau our enemy?"
Lin Xianghua said in shock, "What happened?"
"Simply put, big brother has seen the light and seeks survival by forsaking the darkness. We’re now shaking hands with Prince Shaman for a mutual victory."
Influenced by Mu Tianwen, Gao Yi now also liked using a bunch of idioms.
But after speaking in Chinese, Gao Yi said to Luca and Lucy, "It means our big brother has surrendered, and now we and His Highness Prince Shaman are together against the CIA."
All four of them had expressions of sudden realization.
Li Jie nodded, "Okay, okay! If that’s how we play, impressive..."
Lin Xianghua, looking somewhat anxious, said, "Against the CIA? That might be difficult."
Lucy said solemnly, "We won’t just be bystanders this time, right?"
Only Luca responded with a face full of excitement, "We’ve latched onto Prince Shaman’s big leg? Wonderful! Cooperating with such a royal family is a blessing for any assassin organization. We’ve struck it rich; we’ve made it!"
