Chapter 128: Chapter 118 Voice Actors

You could already hear the whooshing noise of helicopters.

Peter knew what to do; he picked up a flashlight, pressed the button at the end several times, and after changing the light to two long and one short to signal SOS, he placed the flashlight on the ground.

The light shone outward, only bright enough to illuminate the ground at their feet without dazzling the eyes, but from above, looking down, one could still see the twinkling light on the ground.

When Peter had done all this, he stepped back a few paces, then aimed his gun at the door.

Shouts and cries were now coming from outside.

"Go, go, go!"

There were no special commands, no particular details, just courageous shouting, and with a few yells, several men stormed in with guns raised.

The leader was a short, chubby middle-aged man, around forty years old, Caucasoid, with a face reddened from too much sun and wearing glasses. Normally this image wouldn’t be funny, but as he charged in waving a handgun and looking so brave, it appeared slightly comical.

Grins’ image was much better, following close behind the short, chubby man they burst into the room.

Once inside and seeing the dead bodies, the chubby man breathed a sigh of relief, while Grins hesitated for a moment before suddenly raising his gun and firing at the ceiling, rat-tat-tat.

George hesitated, then he, too, began shooting at the ceiling.

If the two men had advanced further, there might have been a misunderstanding from the people outside, but since they started firing at the doorway and blocked the path of those behind them, and firing indiscriminately at the ceiling without hitting anything, naturally no one else made the mistake of firing into the room.

After emptying one magazine, Grins turned around and waved at about ten people behind him, shouting loudly, "Rescue!"

The entrance was cleared, and five or six more came rushing in.

Peter kept his gun trained but didn’t move; he just watched these people play out their act.

Gao Yi stepped forward, and George, having emptied his pistol, quickly walked toward Gao Yi with a smile and outstretched hands.

Gao Yi extended his hand and as they clasped hands, George sincerely said, "You’ve made a great contribution! Are you alright?"

How could he say this?

Gao Yi was taken aback, but then he suddenly had a brainwave and immediately said in an extremely weak voice, "Chief, you arrived just in time. A minute later, a second later, and we all would have been done for, Chief, we’ve captured the target!"

George’s face bloomed with joy, and he suddenly turned his head and shouted, "Help the wounded!"

Gao Yi put his hand on George’s shoulder and pointed his left hand at Saibu.

Saibu said, bewildered, "I’m not..."

Lin Xianghua raised his rifle and smacked Saibu down with the butt of the gun.

Saibu fell to the ground with a thump, motionless.

Peter hesitated, then immediately lay down on the ground, yelling, "Save me! I’m here!"

George couldn’t help his smile.

Lin Xianghua turned toward Alavi, who hesitated and then covered his mouth with both hands and lay down on the ground.

Saibu was no fool; he just didn’t want to be captured but to surrender voluntarily, as there was a different concept between being captured alive and surrendering willingly.

Unfortunately, Gao Yi wouldn’t give Saibu that chance, and now Alavi was much smarter, promptly lying down to play dead.

Seeing Peter’s move, the remaining ones, including Cliff and the others, exchanged glances and hesitantly began to lie down on the ground.

George picked up a walkie-talkie and said loudly, "Chief, we’ve captured the target, the target is injured, our team members..."

Gao Yi quickly waved at Cliff and the others, gesturing for them to stand up.

It was okay to have one or two injured, but too many would mean not enough hands to carry them.

Four men stood up again, and Collins shouted, "All present."

"Retreat, retreat!"

George, holding onto Gao Yi’s arm, pointed to the sky.

They couldn’t manage it inside but would capture it once outside—to make it seem a bit more real.

Gao Yi nodded, then leaned half his body weight on George.

Truly a group of good actors—no, truly a group of good voice actors.

George supported Gao Yi as they walked out; Gao Yi was somewhat staggering, while Peter was overdoing it, curling one leg, hopping out with the help of Grins.

Saibu was lifted by Lin Xianghua and Cliff, Alavi walked by himself, and then a dozen or so people dashed out.

The helicopter was just outside, its rotors whipping up a wind that drowned out all other sounds.

Come to think of it, it was Gao Yi’s first time in a helicopter.

There were three helicopters in total; George helped Gao Yi onto the first one, but Grins, helping Peter out, decided to go the extra mile and took Peter to another helicopter before running back.

Grins climbed into the helicopter and then immediately shut the hatch.

In the spacious cabin of the helicopter, there were now only the three of them.

George, holding the walkie-talkie, urgently said, "Operation is over, we’ve picked up the injured brother, the target has been captured alive and is on board, we’re starting the return journey, completion."

After that, George turned off the walkie-talkie and signaled upward with his hand, leading Grins to immediately say, "Take-off!"

The helicopter lifted off the ground and quickly rose into the air, and at that moment, George hesitated before saying, "Destroy it."

Once the two Blackhawks that had come for them had taken off, Grins, with a headset on, said, "Destroy ground buildings, completely."

Gao Yi thought he wouldn’t see any big action tonight, but as Grins gave the order, missiles from the night sky struck down, and after a short moment, the building belonging to Saibu suddenly erupted in flames, then went dark and nothing more could be seen.

Just when Gao Yi thought it was over, a continuous series of missiles kept hitting the house’s location, then trails of light poured down from the sky.

Quite the costly fireworks show.

Rocket projectiles, anti-tank missiles, autocannon shells, pounding Saibu’s house as if they were all free of charge.

The attack lasted for several minutes until the ground was enveloped in complete darkness, no more flames rising. George then breathed a long sigh of relief, and then, he suddenly reached out both hands to Gao Yi again.

Beneath the dim cabin light of the helicopter, George’s smiling face seemed somewhat terrifying.

"After Grins discussed your plan with me, I came right away. Truly a genius plan."

George shook Gao Yi’s hand vigorously, with an air of meeting too late, and said, "You’re FBI? Grins should have told me earlier about a friend like you. I know you’re young, but I really didn’t expect you to be so young. Being young is good; there are more opportunities. Being young means having a future."

Gao Yi looked at Grins, and then he noticed Grins giving a slight nod.

Gao Yi spoke softly, "Whether I’m with the FBI or not doesn’t matter. I just like to make friends."

"Right, making friends is good."

George finally released his hands, exhaled, and then sincerely said to Gao Yi, "I’ve been in this godforsaken place Baghdad for so long, never a good opportunity, but with your arrival, isn’t there an opportunity now?"

This was not a hint; this was a clear indication.

Some words needed to be said early, and attitudes needed to be made clear. At a time when both sides are tentatively reaching out, any ambiguity could complicate things.

George was telling Gao Yi that he had certainly grabbed the olive branch that Grins had extended, and the money that Grins had offered was eagerly accepted.

Watching Gao Yi nod repeatedly, George smiled and then said without hesitation, "Although there’s some extra money to be made in Baghdad, I still find it hard to adapt to the climate here. I actually prefer office work. Even returning to the Pentagon and sitting in an office means no extra money, making it a difficult choice."

Grins immediately said, "There are benefits to heading back to headquarters; someone’s got to be on the inside if others are on the outside."

Gao Yi quickly added, "Yes, walking on two legs is always steadier than one."

George burst into laughter and then whispered, "Grins should take on more important responsibilities. I took half of this operation’s spoils to Chief Ethan, and he was pleased, so he instructed me to find a suitable opportunity to hand over my work here to an appropriate successor."

After saying this, George looked at Grins and said, "I think you are quite fit for it."

Grins immediately responded, "Thank you, sir!"

George smiled and then straightforwardly said, "If there’s another opportunity like this in the future..."

Gao Yi extended a hand and made a flipping gesture, indicating a fifty-fifty split.

Grins did not hesitate, not looking at Gao Yi’s hand, instead he decisively said, "Seventy-thirty. I’ll take thirty."

Generous, decisive action!

Gao Yi withdrew his hand, impressed that Grins was even more magnanimous than he had imagined.

George was somewhat surprised, but he immediately started laughing and said, "Upon returning, you’ll be our field operations group leader. The person in charge of the Iraq branch needs to be appointed; you’ll have to wait a bit for that."

Grins nodded and replied softly, "Thank you, sir."

"You know our budget is limited, but not because the Pentagon lacks money, it’s just that we haven’t achieved anything significant before. But from today onwards, the budget will definitely increase, our personnel will definitely grow. These matters have nothing to do with me anymore, but you’ll have to make sure you understand that when the time comes; the budget is not to be misused."

Grins replied softly, "There are plenty of opportunities to make money; why fixate on that little budget?"

The cake was now divided, the stage was set. George smiled and was about to conclude when Gao Yi suddenly said, "Wait a minute."

George and Grins looked at Gao Yi, who whispered, "Regarding Saibu..."

"We’ll slowly interrogate him after getting back. I’ve already reported that he was injured, and if he doesn’t survive the interrogation, dying is normal."

Gao Yi whispered, "He says he can bring out one million six hundred thousand. And one more thing, um, the Secret Action Bureau doesn’t have enough reliable personnel in Baghdad, so I want to recommend a few to you. They’re all ex-Rangers with strong combat capabilities. Without trustworthy hands, things are inconvenient. How about it? Could you use them?"

George smiled slightly and then looked to Grins for the decision.

Grins did not hesitate, saying, "You mean those from the Plunderer Mercenary Corps? Hm, they are ex-Rangers. Now that the Plunderers are gone, they have nowhere to go. Recruiting them as a group might be good."

Grins had made his decision, and George immediately smiled, "You want to use them? Good. I’ll write a report. Hmm, you write the report, make them look heroic."
