Chapter 108: Chapter 98 Sky Garden

"It can’t be such a coincidence, can it? Are you serious?"

Things that are too coincidental are often hard to believe. Now Gao Yi wasn’t doubting Luca, it was purely because the coincidence was too outrageous.

Luca held a phone in one hand and pointed to a photo on it, saying, "Look, look! Isn’t it clear?"

It appeared to be a surveillance-captured image of a balding middle-aged man, his forehead shiny because he had no hair. It was hard to tell his exact age, but he was at least in his forties, dressed in a suit jacket, sitting upright on a sofa.

There wasn’t just one photo. When flipped to the next, it showed a standing photo of a relatively thin middle-aged man.

There was also a photo from the back, with three high-resolution photos given on the wanted notice.

"Indeed, it’s quite clear."

Luca said excitedly, "It’s so clear there can be no mistaking it! This guy’s real name is Saibu Zaka, but on this wanted poster he’s called Mureif Saliri, obviously a fake name. Also, the poster says he’s Kuwaiti, all fake, but I know his real identity!"

This matter seemed to be getting more serious.

Gao Yi said solemnly, "Keep going."

"This guy went to the UK in ’06 when he was just 18, so he’s only 29 this year. But look at the photo, doesn’t he look like he’s in his fifties? If those assassin mercenaries and bounty hunters start searching for him based on this information, they’d never find him!"

Luca was agitated, stood up, and gesticulated as he spoke, "I’ve known him for a long time because when he first arrived in London, he couldn’t survive. He first worked as a mover in a store owned by an Iraqi. But he couldn’t stand it and soon stole eight thousand pounds in cash from his boss and drove off in his boss’s Land Rover. It was me, I helped him transfer five thousand pounds to his family and sold the car for him!"

Gao Yi said, surprised, "You were involved in laundering?"

"You’re missing the point!"

Luca continued excitedly, "Then this guy joined the Algerian mob. He didn’t make much money there, but roughly every six months, he would have me transfer money to his family’s account. I even helped him ship something once! Two years later, he didn’t contact me anymore, but two years ago, I saw him in Dubai. By then, he already looked like he does in the photos, but at that time he was just a poor guy who had been in prison for five years!"

Gao Yi took a sharp breath and said, "You know him, know his roots."

Luca nodded firmly and then said gravely, "I don’t know whom he’s tricked, but he’s definitely not an arms dealer, and for sure, he isn’t in the Green Zone. His hometown is in Suaila, a small city near Baghdad. His house in Baghdad is rented, and before he went to the UK, he was already married. He has a mom, a wife! It was me who transferred the money for him because he didn’t have a bank account in the UK at the time!"

Gao Yi looked at Lin Xianghua. Lin hesitated and said, "He who doesn’t accept what God offers, will eventually face retribution."

"What?"

"If you don’t take the money God gives you, you’re going to face divine retribution."

Lin Xianghua explained, then said to Gao Yi, "Isn’t it inappropriate not to take such money?"

Gao Yi nodded and said, "That’s right. Then...let’s contact the employer to see how we can settle this. Can we rely on the Dark Web in the Middle East?"

Luca took a deep breath and said, "I haven’t taken assignments in the Middle East before, but I do have an account on the Middle East Dark Web. However, the Dark Web in the Middle East doesn’t offer guarantees because those wealthy people prefer to pay in cash. They haven’t accepted Bitcoin as a credit currency yet, so what we need to do is contact the employer posting the job and ask how they plan to pay."

Gao Yi asked curiously, "How do we contact them?"

Luca thought for a moment and said, "I’ll try."

Luca began to operate; he found the poster and started sending messages.

A moment later, Luca exclaimed with delight, "They’ve replied."

"I’m an assassin, I know where the person you’re looking for is, but I want to ask how you will pay and how you will confirm the target is dead."

Luca muttered the message as he sent it out, so Gao Yi and the others knew what he’d sent.

After a moment, Luca said, annoyed, "Everyone says they know where the target is, how can you prove it?"

Reading the reply, Luca said helplessly to Gao Yi, "That’s what happens without a Dark Web guarantee—there’s a severe lack of mutual trust between employers and assassins; there are just too many scammers, especially in the Middle East. Damn."

After venting for a while, Luca mused aloud, "We can take the money after the job is done, but how will you confirm the target is dead? Is a photo enough, or do you need a video, or do you need to send the body over for personal verification, or maybe you have people participate all the way?"

"Payment upon seeing the body, or we send someone to perform autopsy."

"If there is an upfront payment, cash or transfer, if there is a guarantee, and can you use a video as evidence, as assassins, we don’t want to transport bodies, but we can ensure the target is dead in that way."

The message was sent. The response came quickly.

"Nice try! No upfront payment, use cash, no guarantees, but my master’s name is the guarantee. You can use a video as evidence, but it must be clear."

Luca looked at Gao Yi, his face grave, and said, "Should we take it?"

Gao Yi nodded emphatically and said, "Take it! If we don’t take such an opportunity, it would really be a waste."

Luca immediately replied to the message.

"We’ll take it. Does this task have exclusivity?"

"Many have taken on the task, but no one has succeeded yet. Say a name, and after success, use the name to provide evidence to receive the bounty, then collect the bounty in Riyadh."

Five million, all in cash; retrieving this bounty would be troublesome but manageable, as it was like money delivered to the door.

But then came the problem—what name should be used?

Luca looked at Gao Yi and said, "What name? Albatross? Busan, or...Garden?"

It wasn’t safe to use the name Garden on the Dark Web, but in the Middle East, could Garden pave a new market?

Gao Yi pondered for a moment and said, "Garden! But not directly just Garden; let’s go with...Sky Garden!"

Luca thought briefly, then replied, "We are Sky Garden, now taking on your task, will deliver evidence before receiving bounty, that’s settled."

"Received."

Their counterparty replied with a single sentence, and then the task was set.

Though accepting this task did seem somewhat bizarre.

Gao Yi thought for a moment and said, "It’s fate, isn’t it? I feel like Garden’s second spring will happen in the Middle East, fellas, it’s easy to make money over here!"
