Chapter 93 - 93 87 Illusion One

Chapter 93: Chapter 87 Illusion One Chapter 93: Chapter 87 Illusion One “What does tomorrow look like?”

An illusory voice echoed in his mind.

Lin Fei started in surprise. His pupils shrank tightly.

He lowered his head, and on the polished glass of the alarm clock in front of him, his reflection showed a man in black standing behind him, smiling quietly.

“Aren’t you dead?” Lin Fei suppressed the turmoil in his heart and slowly turned around.

“Hss!” Bear Claw viciously slashed through the air behind him, emitting a sharp whistling sound. There was nothing behind him but a heavy sense of oppression weighed on his mind.

Lin Fei breathed heavily, his grip on Bear Claw so tight that the bones in his hand protruded white. He didn’t like this feeling, not at all!

Uncontrollable!

Unpredictable!

To Lin Fei, feeling the unknown and mysterious meant being in danger and completely unprepared.

“This can’t be! I must resolve this issue immediately.” He looked down, his long hair obscuring his eyes, “Yan Shi…”

In an instant, the sky and earth changed color.

“Bang!”

His body felt as if struck by something heavy and sent flying, a sudden sweetness of blood gushing from his chest. That was the taste of blood.

“Get up,” a cold voice sounded in front of him.

Lin Fei raised his head, only to see a woman in a white robe looking down at him from a lofty position. In her hand was a white longsword, gleaming like autumn water.

“Sis…” Lin Fei said unconsciously.

“Get up!” the woman repeated.

Lin Fei felt his body slowly, with difficulty, push itself up. The surroundings were no longer his home but a snowfield dotted with snowflakes, the piercingly white snow covering the whole world.

This place was a wilderness.

In the woman’s hand was a small cage, inside which stood a snow-white bird with blood-red eyes.

“Little Ten, this is your favorite snowbird. I’ve had someone cast the Berserk Technique on it. Now, I’ll open the cage, and if you still can’t make up your mind, let it devour you.”

The woman gently opened the cage. The snowbird’s blood-red eyes shone with a faint light. It hopped lightly and burst out of the cage, emitting a clear and distant chirp.

“Thump thump thump.” A sudden, urgent knocking sounded in Lin Fei’s ears.

The scene around him instantly shifted back, and he was still standing in his bedroom. The door was being knocked hard.

“Open the door!” Lin You’s voice came from outside.

Sweat trickled down Lin Fei’s cheeks.

“What exactly do you want to do?” he said quietly.

Everything around him was silent, with no response.

“Thump thump thump.” The knocking sound came again. “Hurry up and open the door!” Lin You was getting impatient outside.

Only then did Lin Fei wake up, walking over to open the door and suppressing the turmoil within him.

“Is there a problem?”

Lin You, still holding the little black cat, stood at the doorway.

“What are you skulking around in the bedroom for?” Lin You stared at Lin Fei with cold eyes.

“Is there something you want?” Lin Fei didn’t want to get into it with her right now, trying to suppress the discomfort in her heart as she spoke in a deep voice.

“I need to talk to you!” Lin You squeezed past Lin Fei without any courtesy and walked into the room. She then patted the bed and sat down on it.

Lin Fei gently closed the door, leaned against it from behind, and turned to look at Lin You.

“Go ahead, what is it?”

“What secretive things have you been up to lately? And what’s the deal with that friend of yours? Don’t think I can’t tell that the woman needs to look to you for approval first,” Lin You said bluntly.

Lin Fei shook her head: “I just haven’t mentioned that I am Xiaoling’s swordsmanship teacher, that’s all.”

“With that superficial sword play of yours, you’re a teacher of swordsmanship?” Lin You said, scoffing disdainfully.

“It’s alright,” Lin Fei smiled and didn’t argue with her. She hesitated, then gritted her teeth before speaking again, “Try not to go out too much at night lately. I’ve heard that there have been drug offenders roaming around our area.”

“Oh, okay,” Lin Fei nodded, “Anything else?”

Lin You was somewhat surprised by how quickly Lin Fei agreed. “No… Nothing else.”

She finally got up, paused, and then walked out of the bedroom.

Lin Fei gently closed the door and stood silently in front of it.

******************

The clear tones of the harp flowed quietly in the spacious study, like a stream.

Bright sunlight streamed through the window, casting rays upon the person playing the harp. His long white hair draped smoothly over his shoulders, giving off a faint glow.

This was a man in a black trench coat, his face covered with a black mask, revealing only a pair of sharp eyes. His slender and long fingers continuously plucked at the strings of the harp, and strands of melody slowly filled the air. Everything around seemed to be enveloped in the tranquil sound of music.

“Augustine,” a cold voice broke the silence. The sound of the harp stopped abruptly.

The man in black let go of the harp and stood up abruptly. He was tall and slender; the black trench coat wrapped all of his skin except for his snow-white and delicate hands. His snow-colored hair gently lay on his shoulders, providing a stark contrast to the black of his coat.

“Sis has arrived; he wishes to talk to you,” a tall, burly man walked into the room. He wore a black and white silk shirt with an old-fashioned style and had a flower tie knotted below his neck.

The man in black nodded and turned around to look out of the window. From this window, he could look down upon the main route of the manor. In Augustine’s view, a young man with an almost perfect visage, wearing a white suit, strode along the pathway surrounded by the garden. The countless flowers around him seemed to serve merely as his backdrop. His face always wore a humble smile, and his attire was always meticulous to the extreme.

Several young maidens who were still tending the garden happened to be in the gardens surrounding the pathway at this time, casting furtive glances at the approaching young man with their peripheral vision, shyly observing him.

“He’s still so perfect. Aside from Auston of the Tower of Glory, I’ve never seen such a flawless human being,” the tall man also walked up to the window and sighed softly as he watched the scene outside. “A Peak Class C fighter, erudite and multilingual, wealthy beyond measure, nearly perfect in appearance, gentle in manner, and with a one hundred percent mission completion rate.

“Why has he come?” the man in black finally spoke, his voice somewhere between male and female, carrying a distinctive androgynous huskiness.

“At Angel’s behest.”

“Impossible.”

“Indeed, the members of the Tower of Glory who went on a mission to the East have returned, and one of their Class C has died,” the tall man said flatly.

“I know.”

“But do you know what their mission was?” the tall man said with a smirk. “Ridiculous Tower of Glory, daring to be distracted with collecting Energy Scepters at a time like this.”
