Chapter 397: Chapter 368 Meeting 1

Section One

In the quiet bedroom,

Hiss!

Lin Fei’s figure appeared in the room in an instant, a sheen of sweat visible on his forehead. He quietly took down the Black Demon Sword from his waist and placed it on the table, sighing deeply.

"If I could wield all my strength, reaching peak B-class close to A-class would probably be an easy task. But right now, my power is neutralized by the Divine Artifact, and I can only use twenty percent of it," he said, shaking his head slightly, pushing those thoughts away.

"The progress on the Divine Artifact’s components is fast enough. We must find the exact location before we can seize the artifact. Otherwise, once it’s discovered, it will be moved immediately, and we will end up with nothing. We absolutely can’t end up like the Rothman Family, who were discovered prematurely," he muttered.

Waiting until he felt a bit better, Lin Fei gently opened the bedroom door. Just then, a low murmur of voices came from the living room.

The voice was familiar—it was Lin You.

Lin Fei was momentarily startled and slowed his steps.

Now that Jiang Nan had gone to work and his parents were busy with company business all day, it seemed like only he and Lin You had nothing much to do. But actually, Lin You must be occupied, and Lin Fei himself needed to secretly keep track of all information and movements. He had his plans.

Lin You’s voice carried clearly from the living room.

"Antos will arrive soon? Oh... then where is the last component? It was moved to Washington?" Lin You’s voice sounded slightly hurried.

"So, what do we do now?"

Lin Fei dispersed his True Force Sensing and instantly ’saw’ Lin You sitting on the sofa, holding a black cat, and making a phone call, his brow furrowed.

"Tomorrow, huh... Isn’t that a bit rushed...? Okay then, I’ll talk to my parents... The Metal Scepter is the last one, and once we collect it, things will be easier. I know... Mhm... Mhm... Okay, I’m hanging up now..."

Then the voice ended. Clearly, Lin You had hung up the phone.

Lin Fei stood at the doorway, pondering for a while, then silently stepped back into his room and gently closed the door.

"The Metal Scepter..." Lin Fei mused to himself.

He clearly sensed that Lin You and the others’ progress seemed to be accelerating and that they were getting closer to unlocking the secret of the Holy Spirit’s Blood. Now, they were obviously preparing to go to the United States tomorrow to seek out the contractor and merger for the Metal Scepter, while he had no choice but to participate in the battle for Elisa’s Gate. Being pulled in different directions, it seemed he could only send someone to keep watch.

"I absolutely cannot let Griffin know about my relationship and importance to Lin You. They are too vulnerable... they could be used as bargaining chips to threaten me at any time..." Lin Fei knew very clearly that, although the interior of the golden organization seemed peaceful, every councillor harboured their own ulterior motives. Although they were united in the general direction, no one would give in when it came to their own interests. Despite Lin Fei getting injured and everyone ostensibly reaching out to support him, essentially, such assistance was trivial to them. Only the Holy Fan Stone given by Luo Jia was a significant gesture of goodwill, whereas the others merely offered symbolic potions, which weren’t very effective.

If this battle for real control was successful, then a significant issue would arise. Who would be better suited to control Elisa’s Gate?

Unlike other councillors, Lin Fei was still young, and he valued his family far more than the others could compare. This would certainly become a bargaining chip for threats. Therefore, he had to carefully hide.

****************

Lin You sat in the living room for a while, frowning, lost in thought.

Feil glanced at her.

"Merrill also said, according to the intelligence we received. The location of Kelan, the Metal Scepter Contractor, has been moved by the United States research institutions. The news came from the Scepter Family. They, like us, want to rescue Kelan. The last time, they didn’t wait for us to join and acted first, spooking the snake, and lost several precious combat powers. So this time, they sent word asking us to cooperate and rescue Kelan together," Feil explained.

"What’s the name of the research institution that has Kelan imprisoned?" Lin You asked.

"Polymeric Mineral Research Laboratory. The person in charge is a woman named Anna, the leader of the scientific research team. She has two formidable subordinates, one named Jessie, an arms-assist Psychic, whose strength varies depending on the equipped firearm’s power, mainly responsible for monitoring the surrounding environment. The other, named Rebecca, is a standard Third Stage Peak powerhouse, responsible for the laboratory’s patrol work. Kelan is mainly protected—or rather, mainly imprisoned—by these three," Feil briefly outlined the situation. "The most troublesome point is, there are also retired Special Forces soldiers serving as security around the laboratory. They have all sorts of equipment, making it very difficult for us to rescue someone without alerting them."

"My God..." Lin You scratched his head, "Special Forces... I can’t believe I’m about to face these legendary entities..." Lin You was speechless. "Up until now, I am merely barely a Third Stage in strength..."

"Let’s go, and see Merrill," Feil suggested.

"Alright."

Lin You stood up holding Feil and headed straight for Merrill’s residence. Fortunately, the distance was short.

He had just taken out the keys, opened the door, and walked in.

The situation inside immediately startled both Lin You and Feil.

Merrill, Cheng Guang, and Chris were sitting side by side, looking tense, their eyes all focused on a person opposite them. Specifically, a woman with black hair,

This was a woman dressed in a black bodysuit, standing across from them behind the sofa, smiling. Her arms crossed, her right arm adorned with a black metal armguard. Most notably, her left eye was covered with a black eye patch. Her shoulder-length hair casually draped over her shoulders, giving her the fierce and dangerous presence of a female pirate.

"Another one..." the woman clicked her tongue twice, her gaze circling over Lin You. "You all relax, I’m just here to chat with my sister. After all, she’s the only family I have now."

"The only family...?" Chris was stunned.

"Yes, all the others are dead. They died under the chase of the Holy See’s dogs just the day before yesterday." The one-eyed woman smiled, as if the deceased had nothing to do with her.

Chris’s face turned pale, and his eyes immediately dimmed.

The one-eyed woman laughed. "Dear Chris, my beloved sister, you surely don’t still believe those trash genuinely cared for you? They colluded with outsiders to kill our parents and aunt, and now, we two are the last direct bloodline of our family.... It’s better that such people are dead! I owe the Holy See people thanks for killing the trash that was not cleaned up properly back then."

Chris’s face turned ashen, but he just clenched his fists and said nothing.

"The lineage of the family only needs me. Only I can ultimately restore our family’s glory!! As for you..." the one-eyed woman looked down at Chris, her eyes clearly mocking.

"The little princess who can’t even bear to kill a rabbit... it’s better for her to die!"

She gently raised her left hand.

Instantly, Merrill and the others tensed, as waves of energy fluctuations continuously rippled around them.

"Don’t be nervous." The one-eyed woman spoke indifferently. "Chris is a Scepter Contractor of our family. When she hasn’t achieved the Third Stage Transformation, I would be too busy protecting her to harm her."

Her slender index finger tip slowly lifted a bright white light, which gradually transformed. From the light, a thin sprout grew, rapidly developing and soon sprouting green leaves, then small flower buds. The white buds slowly bloomed, and at the center of the stamens, threads of fiery red flames continuously encircled and flickered.

"Go..." the one-eyed woman said softly.

Threads of flames flew out of the flower and then in the air, coalesced into a gorgeous fiery red pattern, resembling a badge.

"I am Princess Leiya, the light within the darkness, remember that," the one-eyed woman said with a gentle smile.

With a wave of her hand,

the pattern suddenly radiated countless blinding, dazzling lights.

Everyone had no choice but to close their eyes or turn their faces away from the pattern.

When the light faded, she had already vanished from everyone’s sight.

Only a small fiery red pattern hung in the air in front of Chris.

"This is... the family’s legacy knowledge about the Third Stage Transformation..." Chris whispered. She gently reached out and grabbed the pattern in front of her.

Instantly, the fiery red pattern badge directly dissolved into countless flames and merged into the skin of her palm.

Chris immediately closed her eyes, a pained expression slightly emerging.

"Princess Leiya..."

Merrill took a deep breath. "She’s definitely not a D-level fighter, very likely a C-level fighter. Just as the rumors say, difficult to provoke!"

She stood up, and together with Cheng Guang, swiftly searched the room.

"Nothing unusual, no eavesdropping devices or anything," Cheng Guang nodded, seemingly recovered from the previous pain. Her eyes also faintly sparkled with a hint of gold, seemingly somewhat different from before.

Merrill nodded as well: "No biological entities nearby."

It was then that Lin You finally closed the door, hesitating a bit as he walked over from the entrance.

"That person just now...?"

The others looked at each other but remained silent.

Lin You glanced at them.

"Was that Chris’s elder sister?"

Merrill nodded.

"For now, Princess Leiya’s stance seems to be non-interfering, and not a major threat. We can ignore her for the time being. Let’s discuss the matter about rescuing Kelan first?"

After a moment of silence,

Cheng Guang also spoke in a low voice, "Ever since I fainted last time, it seems like I have awakened as a psychic. My physical condition has greatly improved. I feel that Princess Leiya doesn’t bear us any malice, at least not presently."

"Then, let’s discuss the opponents we are about to face in our upcoming rescue of Kelan," Feil said gravely.

"Anna? Head of the research group?" Lin Fei sat in the office of the president at Shueisha and spoke softly.

A young man with flaxen short hair projected a virtual image in front of him. The image bowed its head respectfully.

"Yes, that laboratory falls under the ownership of one of the Fire God Cult’s research institutes."

"The Fire God Cult again..." Lin Fei sat on a leather chair, the curtains behind him drawn open, letting faint light spill in from outside which cast his face in shadow, making it somewhat blurred and unclear.

"Any more internal news?"

"None. Just that the Fire God Cult deems this research project very important. The confidentiality level is very high," the man spoke softly.

"Well done, Daniel. Inform me immediately if there’re any new developments," Lin Fei said calmly.

"Yes, Councillor Sir." The image twisted slightly and vanished directly.

This was part of the members who pledged loyalty to Lin Fei within the golden organization. As the mysterious First Councillor, Lin Fei’s deterrent power and influence were second only to Griffin, so naturally, many would willingly ally with him. (To be continued.
