Chapter 386: Chapter 361: Earth Dragon Den Part 2
The others completely failed to notice the disappearance of the two. Only the dark red water kept spreading.
Behind Lin Fei, the golden bat Rabbi slowly turned its head back inside its helmet. The bright red in its eyes slowly dimmed.
Lin Fei slightly turned his face, glanced at him without speaking, which was considered an implicit approval of his action.
The group silently followed the original route and swam back towards the end of the passage.
Splash!!
Lin Fei was the first to burst out of the water.
A cold breath hit them on the face.
It was pitch dark around them. Nothing could be seen.
It seemed to be a huge cave, pitch-black all around, only faintly visible were some fluorescent water grass scattered randomly on the ground.
The others successively climbed up from the bottom of the passage.
"This must be the real Earth Dragon Den," Lin Fei said softly. "Lights." He lightly leaped, jumping out of the water to the shore nearby.
"Yes!"
A military officer hurriedly took out a flare, pressed it firmly, and the flare snapped into two pieces, a fierce burst of golden sparks shooting out from the break, instantly illuminating a large area around them.
The man forcefully threw the flare in one direction, then took out a few more and did the same. Soon, there was a burning flare in each of the four directions, each spraying out golden sparks. The whole cave brightened up in an instant.
Annie moved close to Lin Fei and said, "Sir, this should be the entrance to the nest of the Earth Fire Ants, which is also the First Layer of the Earth Dragon Den." She was holding a map.
"They have already entered before us. Maybe they still think we are ahead," Lin Fei’s face showed a faint smile. This expedition had indeed been a great gain, not only touching the secrets of the Earth Dragon Den here but potentially catching the fisherman’s benefit as well.
"We don’t need to move too quickly, just advance slowly and let those two groups clear the way for us," Ban also began to smile. After experiencing the recent bizarre events, it finally returned to normal, and he too breathed a sigh of relief. Although as a Psychic and a Dream Eater, they did not fear death, they also did not want to die inexplicably in an unknown world.
"One hundred and forty-five meters ahead, there are two energy reactions, both surrounded by a large number of Earth Fire Ants," a detector from behind shouted loudly.
"They must have encountered them. It’s just unclear what exactly the situation is," Annie spoke softly, "It’s best if they both suffer."
Lin Fei shook his head, "They are likely to choose to retreat. After entering here, so many powerful beings have returned from the Earth Dragon Den without success, they may not believe that we can definitely succeed. As leaders, they stay outside of the Earth Dragon Den, waiting for us to emerge injured and weakened with treasures, wouldn’t it be better? It’s like waiting for the rabbits to come out," he said.
"Waiting for the rabbits...? Sir, do you mean to stand still and wait for us to go out?" Annie seemed a bit confused by the idiom, but she guessed the meaning. "So what do we do now?"
Lin Fei shook his head: "Do nothing. Wait." He looked around at the remaining people, three had died, leaving nineteen, including eleven from the bat squad, Ban and Annie, and the remaining six were military officers responsible for the instruments, including the previously introduced Vinnie.
"Have you felt, this space’s blockade?" Lin Fei suddenly asked.
"There is indeed a blockade against space ability users inside the Earth Dragon Den, otherwise just any random spatial teleportation would mean others don’t stand a chance," Annie nodded. "All teleportation-type Psychic abilities do not work in the Earth Dragon Den."
It was precisely because he had sensed this that Lin Fei had become extra cautious.
If in this situation here, some extraordinary events happen, support from his body and the Sword Canon Space simply could not be teleported over. Thus, he must be extremely careful.
"Stay put for half an hour. Detection team, constantly monitor their situation," he commanded.
"Yes!"
The whole cave quieted down, only occasionally interrupted by the beeping of instruments and the burning noise of the flares.
Time ticked away by the second.
Lin Fei also kept trying to contact the Sword Canon Space, but regretfully, there was no response from the Sword Canon Space.
Actually, this was puzzling to him; the Sword Canon, being an extremely high-end Heritage Holy Book, should not have its capabilities so easily blocked. How could mere spatial interference sever its connection?
The same thing had happened back in the Temple of the Gods. An A-rank powerhouse could isolate the abilities of the Sword Canon Space.
But now was not the time to consider these things.
Lin Fei, using the light of the flames, looked around the place.
The cave was a hemispherical dome, and directly opposite them was a dark portal through which cold air flowed, sending bursts of chill wind from the entrance.
Despite being the Fire System Earth Dragon Den, there was still a cold wind.
The light from the burning sticks cast shaky shadows of everyone on the surrounding walls, creating an eerie feeling.
Everyone waited patiently.
***************
Ping City
Lin Fei sat cross-legged in the middle of the Sword Room, his expression cold.
"They blocked the teleportation ability. Losing a projection, even though I have the True Force seeds to speed up the recovery, it would still take several months to recover. Perhaps this could be of some use..."
He reached out his hand. A colorless crystal earring lay quietly in his palm.
Lin Fei had a hunch that the Divine Artifact Crystal and this trip to the Earth Dragon Den had some mysterious connection.
