Chapter 330: Chapter 310: Embryo 2

Indian Ocean, Kerguelen Islands

Surrounded by the azure sky and deep blue sea, a tiny island appeared like a small, conspicuous blemish on an expanse of deep blue fabric.

On one of the islands.

The beach on the island was extremely narrow, just a small strip barely wider than a sliver, practically the pale yellow fringe of the entire island.

A few scattered Caucasians stood on the beach gazing into the distance at the sea.

The sea breeze was warm and humid, carrying the salty tang of sea mist. The wind was strong, and the sunshine, scorching. All of these Caucasians wore sunglasses to get a clearer view. A blond Caucasian woman in a white tube top and hot pants, her bronzed skin and well-toned body in view, was raising her hands high, crossing them repeatedly.

In the distance, at the surface of the azure sea, white specks were steadily approaching.

Seen from above, these white dots carved long white paths through the water as they rapidly approached the island.

As the distance closed, the dots gradually revealed their true appearance.

It was a large white yacht. At its forefront, on the deck, several figures stood looking towards the island.

The humming sound of the yacht’s engine accompanied by the lapping waves against the beach grew ever closer.

At the front stood a woman and three men. The woman was a Caucasian, with a slim, elongated face and a black mole on her lip corner, and shoulder-length curly brown hair. She was dressed in a refreshing, swimsuit-like outfit.

Out of the three men, aside from one who was an Asian, the other two were a bald African man and a buzz-cut blonde Caucasian.

The Asian man stood at the forefront, appearing to be the leader.

"We’re the fifth group to go out, and we’ve been sent to five different places. Hans and his team had it the easiest, just staying in New York. We actually have to come to this godforsaken place," the Caucasian woman complained, frowning.

"The Kerguelen Islands are one of the most desolate places in the Indian Ocean, with no airport in sight. I wonder why they suddenly wanted us to come here," the Asian man leading the way remarked with puzzlement on his face.

The African man chimed in on the side.

"I heard that aside from some scientists, there are no locals on this island. I guess we’re probably here to pick someone up."

"We’re just here to install the equipment and then leave; they didn’t mention picking up anyone. Let’s move quickly, get this set up and go back. There’s nothing on this island, and I reckon no one wants to spend the night here, right?" the Asian man said with a laugh.

"Remember, the New York Times reported on this place last year, talking about some biologist named John who came here just to study a type of worm. They said it was about some ancestral research that could change the genetics of worms. To hell with ancestral! What do we care if worms go back to their ancestors! That guy probably won’t survive many years here anyway; pretty soon, he’d be the one reverting back!" the buzz-cut Caucasian said hotly.

"Tama, be civil. We’re about to meet civilized people," the Caucasian woman said with a laugh.

The yacht slowly neared the island.

A few people disembarked, exchanged some pleasantries with the crowd on the beach, and then hurriedly proceeded inland, while some subordinates carried tightly sealed boxes off the boat.

The group, with box carriers in tow, reached the center of the island.

The Asian man leading the pack directed his subordinates to open the boxes, and some of the island’s scientists, dressed like indigenous residents, hurried over to assist.

"Everyone on this island is on our side. Don’t worry about leaks. Open all the boxes. Bury everything inside five meters underground. Make sure the antennas stick out. Move quickly!" the African man ordered loudly, directing the others.

Once the boxes were opened, they revealed silver metallic boxes with retractable antennas on their surfaces.

Soon, all the boxes were buried.

Machines brought in from the island were taken back.

Once the personnel from the yacht and those from the island had cordially parted ways,

"Alright, you can head back first. I need to stay here a bit longer. Annie will come to pick me up in six days," the Asian man instructed.

"No problem. I’m looking forward to our time alone," the Caucasian woman said naturally as she went up to the man and gave him a passionate French kiss, then turned and left decisively, without any hesitation.

The tan-skinned man watched quietly as his team left and then the island’s scientists began to leave as well.

Only then did he take out a small, phone-like device from his waist, gently opened it, and the screen lit up instantly.

Suddenly, his eyes flashed a streak of golden light.

Instantly, he collapsed to the ground.

A thin, colorless ripple instantly enveloped the entire area.

Fifty meters underground, within a silver-white subterranean base, countless people flowed like a stream. Various pipes directly connected to the surface, resembling a vast network of roots, each linking multiple spaces.

In a spacious conference room at the top level, one entire wall was a massive fluorescent screen.

The screen suddenly turned on and then neatly divided into six segments. Each segment was initially blurry, then quickly cleared to reveal the figures of people.

However, the faces of these figures were indistinct, with no clear features visible.

"This is one of my research bases in the Indian Ocean, with guaranteed secrecy and security. I offer it as a meeting place for us, free of charge. What do you think?"
