Chapter 322: Chapter 304 Speechless 2
A group of people arrived in Hua Nation and then took a direct flight back to Ping City. By the time they arrived home, it was already 8 p.m.
The lights at home were still on.
Chris and the others went back to their own places, while Lin Fei and Lin You hurried home together. The black cat, not knowing when, darted out and burrowed into Lin Fei’s arms, refusing to leave.
The two people and one cat opened the front door. The first thing they saw was their father, Lin Jianguo, and Chen Jingde sitting face to face, playing chess. Jiang Feng just happened to sit down, and Chen Jingde’s daughter, Chen Yuanyuan, was also there, sitting on the side as a spectator.
As the door opened, the eyes of several people in the living room immediately focused on them.
"You’re back." Jiang Feng quickly stood up and came over. "Give me your things; go take a bath and change clothes first." She took the luggage from them one by one.
"That was quite a long trip for you. It’s been so long since you’ve been back. How was it? Did you have fun in Zhangjiajie?" Lin Jianguo asked with a smile.
Lin Fei glanced at Lin You. Didn’t this girl say she made up the excuse of going to visit a friend abroad? How did it change to Zhangjiajie?
"Not bad... heh..." Lin You chuckled dryly, "I’m going to take a bath first," and beat a hasty retreat.
Jiang Nan also walked out of the study. Upon seeing Lin Fei, a slight look of joy crossed her face, which was immediately followed by her naturally moving over to Lin Fei’s side.
"How does it feel to have transferred schools?" Lin Fei asked her as he led her to the corridor next to the living room.
"It’s okay." Jiang Nan nodded. She didn’t know what to say. Now she was almost entirely dependent on Lin Fei, for school matters, for life, even for meals, the job at the Swordsmanship Club, she had seen through it, as the operation of the club became more and more flawless, some temporary staff were dismissed after assessments, and colleagues around her changed time and again; the rules were strict beyond what most could imagine, but she alone, with her salary paid as usual, it hardly made any difference whether she went to work daily or not. She was well aware that the manager was keeping her on solely for Lin Fei’s sake.
The salary at the Swordsmanship Club was getting higher and higher. The benefits were getting better, but the better they became, the more uneasy Jiang Nan felt.
She owed Lin Fei, her cousin, far too much.
"Brother... I don’t want to go to the Swordsmanship Club anymore," she said softly.
"What’s the matter?" Lin Fei was taken aback. Looking at Jiang Nan’s expression, he roughly guessed the situation. "Is it because you feel uncomfortable relying on my connections?"
"Yeah." Jiang Nan nodded.
"Then work hard and make the part that you get truly deserved," Lin Fei said with a smile as he ruffled her hair. "You are my sister; if I don’t take care of you, who will I take care of?" he said softly.
At the entrance to the living room, Lin You was biting her lower lip and standing silently with a complicated expression.
After comforting Jiang Nan, Lin Fei returned to his room; he had blocked all domestic calls on his phone during this time. Except for his family, all calls were shut down. He picked up the phone to reset it.
Soon, there was the sound of incoming text messages.
First, it was Shuang’er’s, easily a dozen or twenty messages; whining, getting angry, pleading, questioning—with all kinds of tones used. Shuang’er had tried every tactic and finally faced the reality, realizing Lin Fei hadn’t seen them, and after a couple of huffs, she stopped sending messages.
Then there were messages from a classmate, Shi Ran, who asked if he knew the homeroom teacher’s phone number.
Lastly, surprisingly, there were messages from an unfamiliar phone number.
Lin Fei randomly opened one or two, and his head started to hurt.
All these messages turned out to be from that girl with the thick skin he met in Capital City—the nerve-wracking woman who dared to publicly express her love at the hotel entrance.
He looked at the content of the last message.
"Hmph... I’ve already found out where you live..." The sender was Zhao Yuqing.
Lin Fei was really at a loss for words, even though that woman only had a face with more acne, all her other conditions were very good. But at this stage... could he really just date like an ordinary person? Obviously, it wasn’t realistic.
He decided to get to know a bit about this Zhao Yuqing first. Lin Fei directly called Dong Yaofei, a member of one of the top-level families in Capital City, who definitely should know; even if he didn’t, his subordinates would definitely be aware.
"Master, why did you think to call me?" Dong Yaofei’s languid voice came through the phone.
"I want to ask you something, that Zhao Yuqing, the woman who built the rose pile outside the hotel with us, does she have any background?"
"Background? That Zhao Yuqing should be the daughter of Zhao Dongsheng of the Hengyu Group. After you left, I checked the information. She has always been upset about the acne she couldn’t cure on her face and has an extremely fiery temper. As a result, the men who are worth her attention don’t care for her, and the men who care for her, she doesn’t look twice at. When she met you, she had just been dumped by another wealthy man’s son. What’s up? Is she harassing you? Do you want me to make contact with Zhao Dongsheng about it?" Dong Yaofei said, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"There’s no need. Our relationship doesn’t need to be made so clear. Hengyu Group, with assets of over a billion, is considered quite a well-known private enterprise, right?"
"Indeed, why, are you interested? That woman actually has a pretty good figure, aside from her face, and although she has a bad temper, with your capabilities, it shouldn’t be a problem. The most important thing is, she’s still a virgin," Dong Yaofei teased.
"I’m just asking about the details." Lin Fei replied indifferently, "Okay, I’m going to hang up now."
"Wait, Master, I still..."
Lin Fei hung up the phone directly.
When he returned to the living room, Lin Jianguo happened to grab the chessboard and scattered the pieces all over.
"I can’t play anymore; it’s just pure masochism!" Lin Jianguo’s face was slightly flushed.
"Right, Feifei, your turn to play a game with your uncle Chen. I’m out of my league."
Lin Fei was promptly drafted to step in.
Chen Jingde was smiling at Lin Fei.
"Come on, it looks like we have a father and son teaming up. Yuanyuan, come here, let’s fight side by side, father and daughter!" Chen Yuanyuan was silently pulled over to her father’s side.
The sound of the chessboard, snapping again, began.
With a slight smile on the corner of her mouth, Lin Fei gently picked up a chess piece and casually placed it down. It gave off the impression of not requiring much thought, poised and composed.
On the other side, Chen Jingde’s brows became increasingly furrowed, which also caught on to Chen Yuanyuan, causing her to frown slightly.
The situation was one-sided from the start. Lin Fei didn’t rely on any particular strategy, instead, she immediately saw all sorts of potential moves and paths, calculating dozens of steps ahead. Her memory and analytical abilities far exceeded the limits of an ordinary person.
"By the way, Feifei, you’re studying in Yan Capital University in Capital City, right?" Chen Jingde suddenly asked.
"Yes, that’s right."
"How is Yan Capital University? As one of the nation’s top and oldest universities, it must be much better than the average university," Chen Jingde casually inquired.
"It’s okay. The workload is just a bit heavier. Not much different in other aspects," Lin Fei replied with a smile, placing a rook down, "Checkmate."
"I’m done... no more playing, it’s pure masochism!" those words had just come out of Lin Jianguo’s mouth a minute ago.
The people nearby all started laughing.
"Have you found a girlfriend at school?" Chen Jingde asked warmly.
Lin Fei shook his head: "Not yet, I’m quite busy at the moment and not planning on finding a girlfriend right now."
"That’s good. You’re still young, there’s plenty of time. Find someone with good conditions like our Yuanyuan. Hahaha..." Chen Jingde couldn’t help but laugh.
Chen Yuanyuan’s face turned red, and she looked down.
"Okay, Chen, let the young people handle their own business. Why are you meddling?"
"What, do you look down on the second-tier university that our Yuanyuan attends?"
"Who would dare! You’re a departmental leader in our city, and we’re just ordinary citizens..." Lin Jianguo said, chuckling along.
The two always spoke like this, straightforward and clear about any issue, so as not to harbor any ill feelings. If it had been anyone else, they probably would have taken offense and left immediately.
The two families sat together and chatted for a while before Chen Jingde and his daughter took their leave. However, his intentions were quite clear, as if he somewhat hoped that Lin Fei would become his son-in-law.
"That Chen is really..." Lin Jianguo couldn’t help but start laughing. "He’s already anxious even though it’s only Feifei’s first year."
"Feifei, you understand what your dad and uncle Chen are getting at, right?" Jiang Feng said with a smile on the side, "What do you think? Although we parents think it’s a good match, love isn’t something that can be forced by others. It still depends on you."
"Mom, let’s not rush it, it’s still too early for me," Lin Fei said with a wry smile, "I’ll think about it in my junior year. Right now, I don’t want to consider this matter."
"You make your own decision; we’re not asking you to accept it now, but you could get to know Chen Yuanyuan a bit better, understand each other. That shouldn’t be a problem, right?" Lin Jianguo said with a smile.
Lin Fei was somewhat at a loss for words; Lin Jianguo and Jiang Feng were completely different from his previous life. Now, in his freshman year, they were already arranging a wife for him... This made Lin Fei, who had been immersing himself in cultivation and the struggles of the Inner World lately, feel somewhat surreal.
On one hand, he needed to constantly strengthen himself to meet potential future challenges and enemies. On the other hand, he also lived the experiences of an ordinary person’s life.
Knock, knock, knock...
Suddenly, the security door in the living room was gently knocked on, in a very rhythmic manner.
The clock on the wall showed that it was already nine o’clock at night, yet someone had come to visit at this hour.
Jiang Feng got up to answer and had barely opened the door when she saw a middle-aged man in a black suit standing outside. The man had a handsome face, an extraordinary demeanor, and an aura of holding a high position. Besides him, several tall men who seemed to be bodyguards stood behind him, and a young girl, dressed as a student, was standing in the middle of them.
"Sorry to disturb you, I apologize for visiting so late," the middle-aged man said with a smile.
"And you are?" Jiang Feng asked, puzzled.
"My name is Zhao Dongsheng. I am the father of your son’s girlfriend," the man said, still smiling.
"Feifei, I’m here for you!" the girl in the middle shouted loudly.
Lin Fei, sitting in the living room holding a chess piece, had a face full of black lines. (To be continued. If you like this work, please come to Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for your recommendation, monthly ticket. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
