True Solution of the Sword Dao -
Chapter 308 - 292 Approaching 2
Chapter 308: Chapter 292 Approaching 2
Three days later.
Ping City, Hua Nation
In the bedroom
Jiang Feng was packing clothes for Lin You while nagging about the precautions for going out, reminding him not to forget his textbooks and to review his lessons even while playing, so as not to fall behind in his studies.
In the living room. Merrill and Lin Fei were sitting opposite each other.
This was their first meeting.
Merrill gave the impression of being learned and arrogant, liking to have everything under her control. She was absolutely dominant and proactive in her speech and actions. Even now, in this atmosphere, she unabashedly scrutinized Lin Fei.
The impression Lin Fei gave her was also predominantly of arrogance, the kind that seeped from the bones, exuding absolute self-confidence that only a few people possessed. Therefore, she could tell at a glance that Lin Fei belonged to those with a calm and gentle exterior but an extremely arrogant personality. She didn’t like such people.
Likewise, Lin Fei also found the blonde woman before him hard to stomach. Her scrutinizing and haughty demeanor made him uncomfortable too. A mere D-level Peak, and she dared to show attitude in his presence.
Feil was whispering with Cheng Guang on the side.
"Both of them are arrogant characters. Such people often center themselves, and when many gather in a group, there can’t be two centers, naturally leading to sparks flying," Cheng Guang stated calmly.
"Actually, if you look closely, the two of them are quite similar," Feil observed carefully and concluded.
"There is some resemblance," Cheng Guang nodded in agreement.
Lin Fei slowly reined in his feelings. He was only dealing with a D-level Peak, and if it weren’t for little You’s involvement, he wouldn’t have given him a second glance.
"This is our first meeting, isn’t it?" he said with a smile.
Merrill nodded, "Indeed, I’ve heard little You mention her brother was excellent a long time ago. Meeting you today, it really seems the case."
"You flatter me," Lin Fei replied modestly. Internally though, he was speechless, doubting Lin You would ever say such a thing.
The two fell into an awkward silence again, and the atmosphere tensed up once more.
Lin You walked out of the bedroom and immediately noticed the strange scene in the living room. However, being thick-skinned, she didn’t care at all. She walked in, looked at the vacant spot next to Merrill, and then at the one next to Lin Fei. Hesitating for a moment, she still chose to sit next to Lin Fei.
"This trip is to Romania, a country in Europe. All necessary preparations, including passports and visas, have been taken care of. You, have you packed all your things?" Lin Fei asked.
"Pre... Prepared," Lin You replied, having felt inferior to Feil since the last incident.
"Then let’s set off the day after tomorrow. We’ll be taking several connecting flights," Lin Fei decided on the spot.
The trip to Romania was thus settled.
Merrill made an excuse to leave first. Lin You and Cheng Guang also went to Chris’s place because they still had to recharge the barrier on their hands with Mr. Ding Ning’s help.
Lin Fei went straight to the Swordsmanship Club.
He was getting closer and closer to reaching Perfection of the Third Layer, needing to speed up his progress while ensuring his foundation remained stable.
At the same time, he also needed to understand the situation with Ren Yue and the Myriad Autumn Sword Sect. Lin Fei had once regarded all the imprinted powerhouses in the Sword Canon as puppet-like figures, but now, signs indicated that these powerhouses were not devoid of their own thoughts and independent consciousness.
"And why hasn’t there been any news from Sis?" Lin Fei wondered, knowing that under normal circumstances, a complete silence was impossible. However, with an impending trip to Europe, he temporarily set aside his doubts. "Perhaps the phone’s battery is dead or it’s broken," he guessed.
*********************
London, England
Sis Estate
The slightly hot sun shone on the estate’s lawn, turning it a vibrant green. A quiet European-style white two-story villa stood in the middle of the lawn.
A tall steel fence surrounded the lawn.
Large iron gates were tightly closed. Outside was a neat tree-lined avenue, with fallen leaves being lifted by a breeze.
The road was very quiet, without a single sound.
Suddenly, the sound of a car engine approached rapidly from soft to loud.
A silver Citroën sedan turned the corner from the shaded road.
Face forward through the car window, a young and attractive woman sat in the driver’s seat, her efficient ponytail and high-necked black coat giving her a stylish yet businesslike appearance, complemented by a pair of fashionable tea-colored sunglasses.
However, her expression seemed tense. Though driving, her eyes lacked focus, likely deep in thought.
As the Citroën neared the estate’s gates, it slowed down, finally stopping before the gates.
The car door opened with a snap, and the woman got out, tilting her chin slightly as she looked toward the double-story building inside the estate, frowning. Then, from her coat pocket, she took out a black mobile phone and made a call.
"Paul, delay the meeting by half an hour. I’m not in Liverpool right now. I don’t have any communication equipment with me either."
"Do you need anything else, boss?" a deep, husky male voice asked from the phone.
"Patch me through to Jialilan’s number; I’m in London and need the help of this local snake," she said.
"Alright."
Soon, a languid female voice came on the line.
"Hey, cute little spider, you’ve been quite the hot topic lately, what made you call me?"
"I’m in London. Jialilan, I need your help. Sis is being hunted by the Knight Order and has now disappeared without a trace. I need to find him!" said the Spider calmly, yet her tone betrayed a hint of urgency.
The silence lasted for a moment on the other end of the phone.
"Sis’s last known location was that manor in the west suburban district. My subordinate, Clinton, once saw him from a distance battling with members of the Judgment Knight Order. He didn’t even have time to set up a barrier before he was injured and fled. So, you and that lunatic had some acquaintance,"
"Old friends," the Spider said indifferently, "Do me a favor and keep a close eye on the people from the Judgment Knight Order. We don’t need them causing more trouble. Thanks."
"Thanks for what, with our relationship, do we even need such formalities?" Jialilan laughed playfully, "Well then, that’s it."
"Right."
The call ended. The Spider’s expression also darkened.
Indeed, she and Sis did have an acquaintance, and it was the kind that went beyond life and death.
Long before Sis was working in the tavern as a male prostitute, she knew him. Working in the tavern, she was the only one who got along well with Sis. During the subsequent crises, before she was chosen by the family, Sis saved her many times, not just once or twice, but so many times she couldn’t even count them all.
"The Judgment Knight Order..." she murmured.
Glancing at the tightly closed iron gate, the Spider stepped back a few paces before suddenly accelerating forward, effortlessly flipping over the iron fence.
Bang!
Her feet landed heavily on the firm grass. The Spider squinted and surveyed the entire lawn.
The whole manor was silent. The beautiful scenery, akin to an oil painting, seemed utterly deserted.
The Spider slowly walked on the lawn, her gaze continuously sweeping around.
Suddenly, two figures emerged from behind the villa. They were two boys in T-shirts and jeans.
"Hey! You two!" the Spider shouted loudly.
The two boys glanced in her direction upon hearing the voice and immediately turned to run.
"Jack! This way! Run this way!"
The two boys, agile in their movements, ran towards the back of the villa. They had just turned a corner.
Bang!
The boy in the lead seemed to have run into someone and was pushed back, falling to the ground.
The Spider slowly emerged from the corner.
"Damn it! Run, Roman!" the boy on the ground shouted in panic.
"Stop running! I’m not the owner!" the Spider kicked a small pebble on the ground, thwack, hitting the other boy who tried to run back. He yelped and fell to the ground, clutching his leg and howling in pain.
"I’ll give you back your stuff! Here, take it!" The first boy quickly took out some valuables, among which were some large-denomination British pounds. The stuff he had just taken from the villa.
"I just want to ask you a few questions. You can keep the items. If you answer well, I’ll even pay extra. How does that sound?" the Spider said with a smile.
The two boys were instantly stunned, and the one clutching his leg stopped crying out, clearly having feigned the pain.
"Really?"
"Of course."
The Spider smiled.
Two minutes later...
The two boys ran out of the area behind the villa with pockets bulging and faces filled with joy.
The Spider stood rooted to the spot, her expression solemn.
She glanced at the villa’s back door, which had been battered to smithereens, then, instead of entering, circled around the villa before stopping near a clump of grass at the corner of the wall.
"Knight Order people have already been here. Those two oddly dressed men must be from the Judgment Knight Order." The Spider could be sure, with such strength beyond ordinary people and the audacity to blatantly attack the home of a B-rank powerful being, they definitely couldn’t be weak. The lowest standard of the Knight Order was B-rank, so it definitely must have been them.
The Spider took a small palm computer from her windbreaker pocket and deftly pressed some buttons.
Soon, a clear number displayed on it, accompanied by a crisp ding-ding.
"0.01? It’s a normal value?" the Spider muttered with a frown. "An energy level around 0.01 signifies that there hasn’t been any combat above D-rank here. Good, this means Sis is still relatively safe."
A breeze swept through, bringing a hint of chill. Standing in the shadow behind the villa, the Spider felt a hint of coolness.
She tightened her windbreaker slightly and was about to put away the palm computer when suddenly, the device emitted a rapid series of beeps, like an alarm. The Spider’s face changed as the screen’s numbers skyrocketed from 0.01 to tens and hundreds in an instant before it crackled and went black, emitting wisps of green smoke.
"Who’s there! Come out!" Her face darkened, she threw away the computer, and a breeze surged around her windbreaker.
"Oh dear, it seems today is truly my lucky day," a sharp, eerie male voice came from behind the Spider.
She quickly turned around. Standing behind her was a slender figure in silver armor.
It was a handsome knight with silver hair, narrow eyes, pale skin, and a slender Knight’s Longsword at his waist. He stood there, exuding a slightly sinister aura, as a slowly spreading cold breeze enveloped him.
"Little Spider. We meet again." The knight licked his lips, his tongue long like that of a snake.
The Spider’s pupils dilated in an instant.
"Sea Serpent Raphael...."
In the shadows, the smiling knight in front of her appeared ever more bizarre. (To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendation tickets, monthly tickets, and your support is my biggest motivation.)
