True Solution of the Sword Dao
Chapter 256 - 244 Inspection 2

Chapter 256: Chapter 244 Inspection 2

Of course, besides that, there were miscellaneous matters such as Chen Chen’s company development. But these weren’t the main focus.

As she left the library and walked down the stone stairs, Lin Fei saw a familiar silhouette ahead. It was none other than Cheng Nianwei and one of her roommates.

The two of them were chatting and laughing about something.

Lin Fei walked past them with long strides, smiled politely at Cheng Nianwei, and was about to head towards the cafeteria.

"Lin Fei," Cheng Nianwei took the initiative to speak. "Heading for a meal?"

"Yeah," Lin Fei nodded. "You guys too?"

"Yeah," Cheng Nianwei nodded as well.

"Then I’ll be off first."

"Okay."

It was just a brief exchange, but Cheng Nianwei felt that Lin Fei seemed somewhat unsociable. She hardly ever saw him spending much time with other people in their class.

Watching as Lin Fei gradually walked away.

Her roommate whispered, "Nianwei, do you know about the four types of men who are absolutely unsuitable to be husbands?"

"Which ones?" Cheng Nianwei asked curiously.

"Those who are stingy, those with a strong male chauvinism, those with too heavy family burdens, and the last type, like Lin Fei, are unsuitable."

"Why?" Cheng Nianwei wondered.

"This type of guy, prettier than a girl, just looking at him every day is a blow to one’s self-confidence. Not to mention living together," her roommate said exasperatedly. "Though you don’t seem to have so many restrictions."

"I guess so."

******************

In the spacious classroom, all the students from the Theoretical Physics class sat inside, with the last one or two rows remaining empty.

On the lectern, a bald-headed old man squinted his eyes and read directly from the textbook, causing a group of people below to feel sleepy.

Sitting in the very back row were Lin Fei and three others.

Taking advantage of the old man’s focus on reading the book, Shi Ran whispered.

"This old guy is just reading from the book, why do we even need him to teach? We could self-study and be more efficient than this."

"Then go self-study," Du Xiaosheng immediately responded.

"If it weren’t for the fear of losing marks at the end of the term, I would," Shi Ran retorted.

"Look at Lin Fei, be more like him and stay cool," Du Xiaosheng said with a smile.

Lin Fei, on the other hand, looked up in confusion and stopped writing.

"What?"

"Nothing," Du Xiaosheng waved it off, "carry on."

"Yeah." Lin Fei bent his head down again, having already flipped through half of the newly borrowed optics study guide.

Just then, a skinny tall male student with glasses appeared at the door. He knocked gently and interrupted the bald-headed teacher’s lecture.

"I’m sorry to interrupt, teacher, but I need to find someone."

The bald-headed teacher stopped lecturing and nodded.

After thanking the teacher, the bespectacled student scanned all the students sitting in the classroom.

"Who are Ouyang Dong and Lin Fei? The college has asked you to come," he called out loudly.

Ouyang Dong, sitting in a corner, stood up abruptly and walked straight out of the classroom. Lin Fei also stood up calmly.

"Du Xiaosheng, after class, could you help me bring my books back? Ok?"

"No problem," Du Xiaosheng nodded and then whispered, "It’s probably about the fight. Be careful."

Lin Fei nodded and left the classroom under the watchful eyes of all his classmates. As soon as he closed the door behind him, the classroom immediately burst into noise.

The bespectacled student adjusted his glasses.

"You two head directly to the office in the courtyard. I have another class and must leave now," he said, turning and walking away.

Lin Fei glanced at Ouyang Dong, who still had that meek and submissive look.

"Let’s go. We’d better get this matter settled today to avoid future trouble."

"Yes," Ouyang Dong nodded in agreement.

The two of them left the teaching building and headed for the Physics Department.

The Physics Department was housed in the large building Lin Fei had glimpsed from afar upon first entering the school under the guidance of a senior sister, resembling a library. Upon entering, they were greeted by a cool, somewhat cold breeze. Outside, the sun was shining brightly, but here it was somewhat chilly, clearly due to the relatively humid air.

Following the floor plan on the wall on the first floor, they found the location of the office and took the stairs to the second floor.

They turned into a long, slightly dim corridor. At the end, an office door was open, casting a bright light from within. Two female students stood outside, seemingly waiting for someone inside.

From a distance, they could see that the open office door led to the department’s office.

Ouyang Dong had been silent the whole way, and Lin Fei had no desire to talk to him either. They walked straight in.

Inside, the space was quite spacious, with several large tables occupying most of the area. These large tables appeared to be assembled from four or five smaller tables. Each table was occupied by one or two teachers.

A long-haired female student was being reprimanded by a female teacher, her head bowed low. The student stood sideways to the door, her face showing an expression of remorse and guilt.

"All right, you can go back and reflect on your actions. Consider this punishment a lesson," the teacher said.

"Thank you, Teacher Wu," the student said in a low voice of gratitude before turning and stepping lightly out of the office. A few seconds later, a subdued cheer could be heard.

"You are Lin Fei and Ouyang Dong, correct?" a male teacher sitting near the door asked leisurely, sipping from his teacup.

"Yes," Ouyang Dong and Lin Fei answered in unison.

The male teacher looked them both over, with his gaze finally resting on Lin Fei, appearing somewhat puzzled. He suddenly turned and called out loudly.

"Old Chen, have you made a mistake? Is this Lin Fei someone else?"

An elderly man at the back, who had been looking down at something, lifted his head. "What’s the matter? There’s only one Lin Fei in Theoretical Physics Class One; it can’t be wrong."

"Is that so?" The male teacher turned back around, taking another careful look at Lin Fei. "Are you the Lin Fei who was involved in the fight?"

Lin Fei nodded.

"Yes."

"Then that settles it. The academy is already aware of your situation. However, I am quite skeptical about the authenticity of the incident. You look so weak, while this Ouyang Dong appears quite sturdy. Who actually fought whom is still up in the air. How about this, you both submit a report and let’s call it done. Ouyang Dong, you may go back first." The male teacher stood up.

Ouyang Dong responded and turned to leave the room, leaving only Lin Fei alone.

"About your matter, don’t worry, it’s just a minor issue. Your instructor also mentioned it was just students joking and roughhousing." The male teacher patted Lin Fei’s shoulder, smiling gently, "In the future, try to hold back your temper a bit and use reasonable methods to resolve such issues—it’s the most appropriate."

"Thank you, Teacher." Lin Fei understood that the issue was not a major one but not minor either; it all depended on the attitude of the academy. Normally, the most likely scenario would be making an example out of someone, and during the freshman period, the academy was even more likely to enforce strict punishment. However, a few days ago during a meal with Dong Yaofei, he had vowed to take care of this matter, so the current outcome was within Lin Fei’s expectations. As part of the exchange, Lin Fei had also promised to fulfill his duties as Dong Yaofei’s teacher by formally instructing him in swordsmanship once a week.

Dong Yaofei, due to the unstable situation in Capital City, had some concerns about his personal safety. And Lin Fei just happened to lack connections and a background in Capital City, so the two sides reached an agreement quickly. Although it was said to be teaching swordsmanship, in reality, it was a mutual use of each other. To be exact, it was Dong Yaofei who took the initiative to stick with Lin Fei.

This minor issue should have been handled by him using his connections.

Yan Capital University might not compare to Capital City University and Jinghua University, but it was still considered a top-level institution. Being at the vice-ministerial level, a network that could reach into it was already considered incredibly influential.

The male teacher said gently, "Your report won’t be necessary. Just go back and attend your classes. To be honest, I know you’ve sought many connections, some of them quite powerful, but I am a person who never compromises on principles—you’ll get what you deserve."

Lin Fei was slightly taken aback.

"I was not prepared to do you any favors, adamantly demanding a severe sanction, but after I saw your records in the file, I felt that it would be wrong to let this minor issue hinder someone as talented as you." The male teacher spoke earnestly. "A score of over 700 on the college entrance examination, even with the simplest provincial test, is incredibly difficult to achieve."

Lin Fei glanced at the desk where the teacher was sitting and saw a document with the teacher’s photo; the name below was Li Feiqing.

"I believe that with your scores, choosing our school means you definitely didn’t come here to waste your youth getting into fights! So it’s very likely that the mistake wasn’t yours! To tell the truth, in Yan Capital University now, even local students from Beijing with only a little over 300 points are admitted, which leads to a drastic decline in the overall quality of the student body. Therefore, we should give preferential treatment to top students like you from other provinces who are willing to study at our school." Li Feiqing said, frowning, "All right, let’s put this matter to rest. Go back to your classes. If you need anything, you can come to me. My name is Li Feiqing, and I’m also a senior in your field. Heh heh."

Lin Fei could tell that Li Feiqing was sincere when he said these things. This middle-aged man, who seemed to be nearly fifty, spoke with a stern scholarly air, belonging to the type that sees things in black and white. They were likely to be meticulous in their work, but when it came to personal convictions, they were absolutely inflexible. They were the kind to not give face to anyone when pushed, exactly as he described.

"Thank you, Teacher Li. I’ll go back to class now." Lin Fei said respectfully. He could tell that Li Feiqing was genuine and not just letting him off due to Dong Yaofei’s influence. After the True Force transformation, his senses were much sharper than the average person. Minor changes in tone, shifts in expression, fluctuations in the eyes, and other subtle aspects could be read by Lin Fei—if he couldn’t ascertain a regular person’s honesty with such observations, then that person couldn’t possibly be just an ordinary person.

"Right, take down my phone number. If you have any problems, you can reach out to me anytime," Li Feiqing added. "As long as it’s legitimate business, I’ll help as much as I can! Looking at you, I am reminded of my daughter. She has the same fiery temper. Heh, heh. When it comes to conflicts between boys and girls, she always wins." A gentle smile appeared on Li Feiqing’s face.

"Uh, I am a boy," Lin Fei suddenly felt that something was off.

"Is that so?" Li Feiqing was startled and then burst into laughter. "I actually thought the file was incorrect. How foolish of me..." (To be continued.
