Chapter 170: Chapter 164 Invitation II
June 11, 2005, 11:00 a.m. sharp.
The weather is clear, cloudless.
The white plane flying from Fengyang to Jiangnan slowly descended from the sky and began to decelerate as it taxied on the runway.
Inside the waiting room, a sweet-voiced announcer began to announce the arriving flight and asked certain passengers to prepare for boarding in both Chinese and English. In waiting room three, row after row of seats were empty, with only four or five people sitting there waiting for their flight, making it seem particularly deserted compared to the other waiting rooms.
In front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window, a young woman with a cold and beautiful countenance stood quietly, watching the plane taxiing. Although she had black hair and black eyes, there was a faint exotic aura about her.
Behind her was a young man wearing sunglasses, dressed in a checkered shirt with a white undershirt and light blue jeans, a complete college student look.
"Caiyuan sis, do we really need to make a special trip to the airport to wait for him?" asked the young man in Korean, with a hint of smooth-talking style.
The woman at the window turned to glance at him.
"Regardless of his strength, his status and potential in Hua Nation make him worth getting to know. It’s a matter of basic courtesy," she replied.
"Let’s go, he’s arrived."
"Oh." The man stood up, his hands in his jeans pockets, following closely behind An Caiyuan as they headed outside, looking around in boredom. If he were to take off his sunglasses, one would see his eyes lecherously scanning the area, checking out any pretty woman around, with the sunglasses hiding his behavior, no one would notice his actions.
"Tsk tsk... Hua Nation sure is great, so many natural beauties. Not like back home, where everyone’s all plastic surgery-ed up."
"Then stay here. You’re alone anyway, you’d live the same anywhere," An Caiyuan called back without turning her head.
"I’ll pass. No matter how good it is, nothing beats the comfort of home," shrugged the man.
Passengers began deplaning, heads slightly bowed, walking out from the white cabin, and descending the staircase. The wind at the airport was strong, causing clothes to rustle. Despite bright sunshine, the warmth couldn’t be felt before being instantly whisked away by the gusts.
Among the disembarking passengers was a middle-aged man of average build, wooden features, and lifeless eyes, moving with the stream of people from the plane. Unlike the others, he wasn’t carrying any bags, his hands empty. He wore a black shirt and dark purple jeans, with hair tied behind his head, exuding the aura of a drug lord from a Southeast Asian movie.
"Brother, you should look after your health. You don’t look so good," said a young guy walking in front of him, turning his head and speaking to him. They sat in the same row on the plane, chatted casually throughout the journey, and got familiar with each other.
"It’s nothing, I’ve always been like this, and the doctors haven’t found anything wrong," the middle-aged man smiled, but his expression was somewhat stiff.
"Believe me, my dad is a renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner back home. You really should get checked again, your complexion is definitely not right," the young guy advised.
Lin Fei couldn’t help but grin and bear it, having refused An Caiyuan’s arrangements and going into economy class alone, only to meet this overly enthusiastic young man who kept advising him to see a doctor due to his complexion. But how would he know that his face was deliberately disguised with True Force?
As he sat on the airport bus, a middle-aged woman next to Lin Fei was speaking loudly in English into her phone, her tone urgent and aggressive. Beside her stood two cute identical twin girls, no more than fourteen or fifteen years old, dressed in matching white T-shirts and black silk skirts, particularly eye-catching on the bus, and drawing the attention of almost everyone.
Lin Fei, too, was captivated by the adorable twins; it was not often one saw such perfectly matched twin girls with tender, fair skin. Indeed, they were easy on the eyes.
However, his gaze clearly made the twin on the left nervous; the young girl looked down, biting her lower lip, appearing anxious. Her small hand tightly grasped the hand of the girl next to her, who might be her sister. Meanwhile, the other one first courageously glared at Lin Fei, but then quickly diverted her gaze, lacking confidence, and quietly moved closer to her. The two sisters, nearly clutching each other, trembled slightly under Lin Fei’s gaze.
It was not surprising, given Lin Fei’s disguise. His eyes were lifeless, his face expressionless, almost rivalling the deadpan Gao Ge. And then there was his sallow complexion.
Seeing the girls’ reaction, Lin Fei felt a bit helpless and flashed them a stiff smile. A lifeless face attempting a smile.
"Ah!" The twin on the left suddenly shrank back, not even daring to turn her face, burying herself in the girl beside her. The other girl, as if facing a great threat, held her sister and backed away two steps. But there was a crowd behind them, nowhere to retreat.
"Bro, these two girls seem scared of you," the young man from earlier approached and mentioned, "Your complexion is terrible."
"Can’t help it," Lin Fei replied in a lowered voice, also a technique taught by Sis, a voice-changing technique that used True Force to alter the voice.
The middle-aged woman who had been on the phone suddenly became alert, quickly stepped in front of the twin girls, pocketed her phone, and glared fiercely at Lin Fei.
Lin Fei helplessly spread his hands, indicating he was at a loss.
The surrounding passengers all smiled kindly as well.
Amidst the laughter, the bus arrived in front of the airport terminal, and all the passengers began to disembark.
Lin Fei got off the bus and took out her phone, preparing to make a call. She immediately saw several men walking out of the airport terminal, heading straight for the twins nearby.
The middle-aged woman who had been on the phone earlier saw this and her expression changed dramatically, quickly stepping in front of the twins.
"What are you doing!! Shi Yinsong, what do you want to do!" she exclaimed loudly.
One of the men who came out was wearing a gray half-length coat, handsome in appearance. The people around him immediately spread out with him at the center, persuading others nearby to step away. It appeared very imposing.
The middle-aged man strode up to the middle-aged woman. He glanced at the twins beside her.
"Qin Yi, do you still remember what I said back then?"
The middle-aged woman’s face turned red with humiliation. She looked at the middle-aged man with hatred in her eyes. "Don’t even think about it! I’d rather marry a pig than marry you!"
"Let’s go!" The woman took the twins by the hands, pushed her way through the crowd of onlookers, and left.
Lin Fei stood to the side and happened to see An Caiyuan and the man behind her coming out of the airport terminal. She hurried over to meet them.
"You can meet my requirements, right?"
"No problem, we’ve already bought a standard-issue Longsword that’s been sharpened," An Caiyuan nodded, "Let’s go meet the others first. I’ve only invited the two of you," she said, pointing to the man with the sunglasses behind her.
"My name is Lin Mu. Please take good care of me." Lin Fei extended her hand with a forced smile.
The man also reached out his hand.
"I’m An Dongyong. Although I also have the surname An, I’m not from the same family as Sister Caiyuan, so don’t get confused," the man said, removing his sunglasses to reveal a fairly handsome and clean face.
"Let’s go to the rendezvous point," An Caiyuan said softly from the side.
***************
The rendezvous point An Caiyuan mentioned was in a four-star hotel in Jiangnan City, where an entire building had been completely reserved.
The attendants standing at the door looked like ordinary people, but as Lin Fei passed them, she could feel that both were far stronger and more vigorous than an average person.
"This time, five potential heirs from my family are participating in the operation," An Caiyuan explained as they walked. It seemed that everyone in the hotel was one of their people, so she spoke without much concern.
"In total, over twenty experts have been invited. I’m one of the two who invited the fewest people," An Caiyuan paused, "My second brother An Yonghao commands most of the manpower, having invited ten experts to participate. This operation is divided into separate responsibilities, and the strongest combat power is the Blue Devil Hand Luo Shiran that my brother An Yonghao invited, a Grade C expert. The others are all mid-level or beginner experts," An Caiyuan began to explain the details.
"The Shi Family of Jiangnan City is a prominent family with hundreds of years of heritage, aside from their secret combat power, the rest are ordinary people and can be ignored. The overall commander this time is Park Yanjun, also a Grade C expert. Whether the ambush is successful or not, I will fulfill the promises made to both of you," she said.
Lin Fei and the other person had no objections. Under An Caiyuan’s leadership, they settled into their suites to wait for everyone else to arrive.
Although Lin Fei wasn’t clear about the strength of the enemies that would come, she had managed to read quite a lot about the Jiangnan Shi Family from the family data she had just obtained. It was fortunate that the data had been directly transmitted to her phone by the society, otherwise, it would have been difficult to transmit once out of the province.
The Jiangnan Shi Family, an ancient and famous sword-casting clan, had quite a formidable secret combat force within the circles of noble families. There were rumors that among them, the family concealed a Grade D expert, which, in the aftermath of the disaster triggered by the Flying Swallow Clan, was extremely rare in the Chinese Martial Arts Community. Most noble families were regarded as the sun setting in the west; with the inability to cultivate Inner Strength, martial artists were gradually exiting the historical stage, and those families rooted in martial arts began to fall into decline. It was an inevitable trend.
Yet the Shi Family being able to retain a Grade D expert was undoubtedly considered a case of abundant talent and excellent development.
During her stay, Lin Fei sent a text message home via her phone to inform them she was safe. Then she peacefully cultivated her Sword Techniques. Even if there was no progress, she couldn’t afford to relax. Occasionally, she would meet men and women passing by in the hallway, all of whom shared one thing in common: they all emitted an aura far stronger than that of an ordinary person, most of them bearing the aura of power.
With Lin Fei’s True Force for concealment and detection, it was easy for her to know if the people around her were Grade D experts who had realized the power of "Intent."(To be continued.
