Chapter 150: Chapter 144 Contemplation Part One

"Where am I...?"

It seemed as if there were flickering flames before her eyes. The scorching temperature was baking her body, and a severe pain shot through the wound on her back.

Lin You struggled to prop herself up, but was immediately overwhelmed by the sharp pain in her back. She had never experienced such agony in her life, like relentless tides battering her nerves without cessation.

"Don’t move." A familiar voice softly said nearby.

Lin You turned her head with difficulty, using the light from the fire to make out the person beside her.

His face was covered with a weathered beard, and his features were sordid, but now he appeared unusually serious.

"Uncle Xilan," Lin You’s lips lacked color, utterly devoid of any trace of blood.

"Don’t talk just yet, you are gravely injured. You were unconscious earlier, and so was Feil. I’m treating your wounds," said Xilan, his serious face retaining a hint of charm under the firelight.

Lin You could feel an itchy sensation from the wound on her back. A gentle white light was slowly radiating from Xilan’s hands. Seemingly delicate, the light couldn’t be concealed even by the firelight.

Lin You noticed the burning van nearby and the forest that had caught fire earlier was now slowly shrinking beneath a faint white light. Clearly, this white light was the ability of Xilan Saersi.

The air was thick with the pungent smell of blood. The road was littered with rubble and potholes, indicating that a fierce battle must have taken place after she’d lost consciousness.

But Lin You no longer had the energy to think about these things. The immense pain constantly drained what little strength and energy she had, and soon, she passed out again. The bracelet on her wrist remained dull and lightless. Clearly, Feil’s consciousness had not fully recovered. Although it was synchronized with Lin You’s, the activation and deactivation of the Energy Scepter required a buffer time.

Xilan Saersi shook his head slightly, watching as the wound on Lin You’s back healed rapidly, finally transforming into new skin. Only then did he slowly withdraw the white light from his hands. He seemed utterly disinterested in Lin You’s accidental exposure, as if this decent man was a completely different person from the lecherous uncle he was on normal days.

He stood up, and the large fire beside him was slowly extinguished, leaving only wisps of blue smoke drifting into the sky. Corpses and blood littered the ground everywhere. The un-dried blood pooled together, forming a small stream that flowed into a pit.

Among these corpses, the most conspicuous was the man with the red headscarf who was cleaved in two. A long red stick lay beside him.

Xilan walked over to this man, looking at the single half of his face with wide-open eyes.

"Red Demon, who killed you..." he murmured.

At this moment, the faint sound of a vehicle engine could be heard not too far off. Although this was a remote section of the road, it wasn’t devoid of passing vehicles. From a distance, it appeared to be a black sedan.

Xilan frowned slightly and took a quick glance around. He then went straight back to Lin You’s side.

"An Luya."

"Yes."

A woman dressed in a black bodysuit suddenly appeared beside Lin You, picked her up, and began to spray something on her body. Then something strange happened.

Lin You’s body gradually began to disappear and become transparent under the spray of the substance.

"You take her back to her hotel first; I’ve healed her wound," Xi Lan said softly.

"No problem," the woman nodded and disappeared with Lin You in her arms. Clearly, this kind of invisibility technique was something she could master at any time.

Xi Lan finally looked down at the body on the ground one last time, let out a deep sigh, and quickly turned to leave. As he departed, the footprints he left behind slowly returned to their original state in a faint white glow.

Less than ten minutes passed when a scream suddenly rose, and police cars quickly gathered at the scene. People in strange attire appeared and began setting up barriers, prohibiting passage.

*************

Inside the hotel

Lin Fei, dressed in a pristine white shirt and tailored black leisure pants, stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, holding a phone and talking. Shuang’er sat obediently on the sofa to the side, watching TV with the volume turned down.

"Thank you for handling the situation this time."

"It’s nothing, just a minor issue," Xu Chang’s voice came through the phone. "Since you’ve asked, I should give you some face."

"I owe you one," Lin Fei said with a smile, "I’ll be heading back to Ping City tomorrow. If there’s anything you need in the future, I can help you out once." These words seemed casual, but they were heavy with meaning. Both Lin Fei and Xu Chang were branch leaders, but while Lin Fei’s abilities were outwardly at the D-Level peak, Xu Chang’s were genuinely at D-Level, progressing toward the peak. The potential of the two in the future was not on the same level. Xu Chang was aware of the weight of Lin Fei’s words, which was one of his goals. If he had not been Gao Ge’s partner in the past, planning and strategizing for him, receiving a lot of resources, and having many opportunities for insight, it would have been utterly impossible for him, with his original talents, to reach D-Level. It’s known that the more one’s mind is full of schemes, the less pure the heart becomes, and to cultivate and comprehend the Power at D-Level, one needs a steadfast and pure heart. The more thoughts one has, the harder it is to grasp the Power.

"Then I’ll remember what you’ve said," Xu Chang replied with a laugh.

Lin Fei acknowledged, and then the call ended. He readily made this promise, also seeing Xu Chang’s means. To be able to manage Coastal City so tightly, relying solely on his D-Level strength, was very difficult.

This time, it was Xu Chang who helped manage the containment of information regarding Lin You’s incident. Moreover, Xu Chang had access to additional information channels from somewhere. He even provided a set of data concerning the man with the red stick.

Lin Fei briefly reviewed the information and had a general understanding of how this man, known as Red Devil, suddenly emerged.

Both Red Devil and Dolanna were actually undercover agents for the Spider Organization within the Holy See’s subordinate families. Outwardly, they followed the small family’s commands, and they were just carrying out a family task together when they unexpectedly encountered an attack by Lin You and others.

Lin Fei had no interest in the Spider Organization behind Red Devil and the others. There were many organizations in the world, even new ones could emerge and old ones could be destroyed daily. In the Inner World, human life was cheap. The constant strife between them was as natural as routine. Whether driven by grudges, interests, or consequences, fights for various reasons would occur every day. Psychics, Magic, Religious Faction, Dream Awakeners, Martial Artists, even the unknown false True Force, and that strange green seed - all these undoubtedly indicated that this world was full of endless mysteries and wonders.

Even in the Ping City area under Lin Fei’s control, a new Psychic emerged recently, who was preemptively recruited by a subsidiary of the Temple of the Gods. Shueisha also added a group of new members, and then, in a new round of national public missions, aside from three task leaders who survived, only two out of all the subscribing members from different areas lived. And one of them was seriously disabled. All this constantly signaled that danger was everywhere in this world.

Whether it was the world of Psychics, Magic, or Religion, none were Lin Fei’s primary targets at the moment. What was most urgent for him was to seize more of the Power of True Lies, or even to obtain the entire True Lies Divine Artifact completely. The five major Dream Families were the targets he was about to face. Considering that the Blue Flame, which originated because of the Divine Beast Meng, could significantly restrain the strength of Dream Awakeners, Lin Fei preliminarily estimated that with his Attribute advantage, he could directly confront a Peak B-Level Dream Eater in the Dream World. And B-Level Dream Eaters were already the summit of combat power in the entire Dream World.

"Which means, as long as things are planned properly, I can secretly obtain the Divine Instrument True Lies," Lin Fei thought. Having such a naturally powerful advantage, it was only natural that he should fully utilize it.

Regardless, the True Lies Divine Artifact had to be obtained. Being able to constantly create powerful subordinates was a shortcut to expanding power. Plus, the death of subordinates could bring significant benefits back to himself. Such a good deal must be controlled. As for the five major Dream Families in the way, Lin Fei already had a preliminary plan.

Controlling the Dream World was just one part of Lin Fei’s plan. In the future, with this as a foundation and the whole Dream World as a support, becoming a powerhouse in the entire Inner World was what Lin Fei really wanted. If he could implant the True Force seed into all the strong ones of the entire Dream World, just how high would such a force rise?!!
