True Solution of the Sword Dao -
Chapter 149 - 143 Jila 2
Chapter 149: Chapter 143 Jila 2
Lin You’s lips twitched. The tense atmosphere immediately dissipated with her rush.
Fortunately, Feil’s discordance was momentary, and Lin You’s aura of coldness instantly amplified, enveloping the area within two meters of her. She quickly charged toward one of the four men, who was reaching for his gun. Her steps were light, and numerous strands of white ice aura fluttered with the wind behind her, looking like many delicate silver veils, stunningly beautiful. This seemingly beautiful ice aura would instantly freeze a normal person stiff, robbing them of their mobility. However, psychics were far more resilient than ordinary people, so it was hard to say how effective it would be on them.
From the shadows not far off the road, Lin Fei watched quietly as Lin You rushed toward the burning van. The man there stood up with a sneer, pulling a gun with one hand and a short blade, the length of a forearm, from his waist with the other. The firelight reflected in his eyes, where dancing reds mixed with dispassionate blacks.
"Aren’t you going to help sister Lin You?" Shuang’er asked softly, sitting on a trunk nearby.
"This is her battle," Lin Fei said indifferently. "Since she has chosen this path, she must be prepared to face these things." In his eyes, behind the squad members focused on protecting Lin You, five shadows were stealthily approaching. Each had the strength of an F-grade psychic. Similar to the squad’s individual strength, but outnumbering them by one.
Lin You held up her right hand, and in the palm emerged a cluster of white ice aura, swirling like a miniature storm, rapidly cooling the air around her. A silver diamond-shaped ice crystal swiftly formed in front of her, her defense mechanism as a D-grade psychic after amplification. It could defend against pistol shots.
The comrade of the man opposite her had also risen by then, one of them firing a shot with swift action.
Bang!! Clang!!
The bullet hit Lin You’s diamond-shaped crystal defense, shattering one-fifth of the crystal which then quickly began to repair itself. In less than half a second, it was as good as new.
Lin You stretched out her right hand, aiming the ice aura directly at the man who had just stood up and seemed to be the leader. Since she could only reach D-grade by amplification, her methods were limited: one was ice crystal defense, and the other was ice aura attack. And because her psychic ability was originally just freezing on contact, the ice aura couldn’t be thrown to attack; it was only for close combat. This combat style meant she was primarily a melee fighter.
The ice aura slammed down on the man with a howling sound.
Immediately following the sound of a few gunshots, the three men beside him all took bullets and fell, clearly the work of Jack and his group. Lin You felt relieved, suddenly more confident. This was her second time facing a formidable enemy alone; the first time, the opponent had been accidentally killed by Lin You out of shock. This time was definitely not going to be that simple.
"Die!" The man must be Dolanna, who threw away his pistol with a sneer while his hand holding the knife viciously chopped at Lin You’s ice aura.
Lin You’s eyes narrowed, nervous at first, but she quickly steeled herself. The ice crystal before her abruptly met the man’s knife. The speed was incredibly fast.
"I should be able to win!!" Lin You shouted inwardly. "My crystal should be able to block his knife, and as long as the ice aura touches him a little, it will be to my advantage!"
Ssst!
All of a sudden, Dolanna disappeared from his spot. The crystal met with empty air, and Lin You’s hand of ice aura also missed. Her face frozen in shock, still unclear about what had happened, she then felt a ripping pain from her back.
Blood instantly splattered. Lin You stared blankly at the blood that flew before her eyes.
"Lin You!!" Feil’s anxious voice echoed in her ears, seeming to grow farther and farther away. "Run!!" His preparedness completely went unused. He hadn’t expected Dolanna to be so strong, having swiftly reached the peak of D-grade.
Bang bang bang!! A series of gunshots rang out incessantly behind her. Jack’s furious roar.
Boom! A violent explosion, mixed with whistles and laughing curses.
Lin You felt the world spin around her. Her vision grew increasingly blurry, with the red firelight and the night’s darkness mixing together, growing darker and dimmer.
Crack!
She collapsed on the ground, with a deep gash several centimeters long on her back, stretching from her shoulder all the way to her waist. Blood quickly soaked through her clothes.
"Lin You! Wake up! Wake up, Lin You!" Feil called out anxiously. In such a state, if their contractor lost consciousness, they would also lose consciousness. The shared sensations between the two were already strong, and now in this fused state, their resonance was extremely high. In such an environment, losing consciousness meant a survival rate of less than one in a thousand.
Dolanna licked the blood off his machete. He walked over to Lin You.
"A fledgling just advanced to the D rank daring to ambush me, Dolanna. Ignorant of life and death."
The screams from the woods beside them also stopped abruptly. Several men with blood-smeared faces walked out of the forest.
"Captain, Mike is dead, and Gana is seriously injured. But we’ve killed all of the ambushers from this squad."
"Well done," Dolanna said, indifferent to the casualties among his own members. His gaze settled on Lin You, who had completely lost consciousness. The bracelet on Lin You’s wrist also began to dim.
"This woman’s not bad-looking, what a pity. If it wasn’t for him, we all could’ve had a bit of fun."
"What’s there to be afraid of, captain? The master didn’t say we couldn’t do this, did he?" one of the men chuckled.
"Yeah, captain, it wouldn’t hurt to relax a bit," another member added.
Dolanna licked his lips, seemingly tempted.
Drip, drip, drip...
Suddenly, a series of footsteps echoed slowly, as if in a desolate hall, accompanied by faint reverberations.
"Who’s there!" Dolanna’s expression changed, and the others also turned their gaze toward one end of the road.
A young man dressed in black, holding a longsword, stepped out from the darkness with an indifferent expression.
"Experience pain and defeat. It’s the only path to becoming stronger," he said lightly, looking at Lin You lying on the ground.
Dolanna felt something was off and sensed an aura similar to that of the master from before radiating from this man.
"Get ready," he whispered to his subordinates, moving his lips lightly. They nodded subtly, getting the signal.
Just then, a wild burst of laughter approached swiftly from the distance, growing closer and closer.
Boom! A man dropped from the sky, landing heavily in front of Lin Fei with a red band tied around his head and a bizarre laugh. Air burst in all directions instantly scattering away. The ground cracked open with numerous fissures from the impact.
"Ohhhhh!!!"
The man yelled as he pulled out a red staff from his back.
Hu hu hu.....
Circular stick shadows flew and spun in his hands.
With a snap, they suddenly stopped, bracing against the man’s shoulder.
"Ha....." The man lowered his head, a hot breath spewed from his mouth, like a leopard getting ready to hunt.
Lin Fei stood quietly in place, indifferently watching him.
"Attack!!" Dolanna bellowed. Everyone had been ready, quickly lifting their pistols and submachine guns towards Lin Fei.
Da da da...
The jarring sound of gunfire was chaotic to the extreme. Countless bullets shot through the gap in the blink of an eye, enveloping Lin Fei’s entire body.
At the same time, a red long stick, emitting a faint red glow, instantly lashed towards Lin Fei’s back.
Lin Fei’s figure blurred slightly. He dodged a barrage of bullets, but the red long stick followed him like a shadow.
"A master!" The thought flashed through his mind. Anyone who could keep up with his current speed was definitely not an ordinary D-level peak.
"I didn’t expect to encounter such a master just by stepping out casually," Lin Fei said calmly.
"Split Earth!!" The man in the red headband roared, and the long stick split into three, converging towards Lin Fei from three different directions.
Lin Fei’s expression was calm as he lightly tapped his toes, just moving out of the sweeping range of the stick shadows. At the same time, the hilt at his waist tilted slightly, deflecting a bullet that flew towards him with a snap.
"Not just yet, aaaaaahhhhh!!" The man in the red headband shrieked, and the three sticks suddenly turned into countless others.
"Useless," Lin Fei stated flatly.
Hu!!
Suddenly, all the sticks elongated at once, turning into countless red torrents that completely engulfed Lin Fei, pressing down with a momentum that covered the sky and the earth.
Blue tassels fluttered suddenly, forming an all-around protection like ribbons, fully safeguarding Lin Fei.
Bang! Crack!!
Lin Fei’s eyes opened wide in an instant.
The tassels before him suddenly shattered. Like glass, they turned into countless fragments that flew in all directions.
Boom!!
"Die!!! Hahahaha..." The man in the red headband laughed maniacally as he hammered down with his stick on the concrete ground again and again, with countless cracks spreading everywhere, as brutish as a humanoid mecha.
Dust filled the air, and debris flew everywhere.
In the haze, Lin Fei’s hair extended wildly, growing longer. A layer of glass-like fragments slowly fell from his face like a mask being removed, revealing a face of utter perfection.
Ding.....
A clear sound of a sword’s cry suddenly rang out. Hair as long as his waist fluttered upward.
Lin Fei’s figure instantly disappeared from the spot, appearing directly behind the man in the red headband with a gentle turn.
The sword, fluid-like, slowly dripped a bead of blood.
Silence engulfed everything around.
With a clang, the longsword was sheathed. With hair draped over his shoulders, Lin Fei glanced sideways at Lin You on the ground, then turned and walked into the shadows he had come from. Behind him, the remaining figures also had grey ghostly faces of malicious aura drifting up from them. Countless auras mingled in the air, following Lin Fei into the shadows. Then came the sound of bodies falling to the ground one after another.
Boom!
The van exploded abruptly, its intense flames lighting everything around. The man in the red headband was split into two from the head down, collapsing to the ground with the explosion.
Far away in the United Kingdom,
The sky over Bristol in the afternoon had turned a greyish blue. The ceaseless stream of vehicles on the streets had their lights flowing; yellow and white lights were on both sides. On the overpass above the streets, a smattering of pedestrians crossed, and a woman with a ponytail in a dark coat stood by the railing of the overpass, looking down below. She held an exquisite black Nokia phone in her hand.
"Boss, Red Devil is dead," a deep male voice came from the phone.
"I remember him being a C-level, wasn’t he?" The woman turned around, leaning on the railing. "Who took him out?"
"We don’t know. He was one of the most undisciplined members of the organization. We can’t track his movements."
"Don’t worry about him for now. How’s the Brian Family’s enforcement team doing?"
"They’ve started an information war with us. Maya’s intelligence department is engaging them."
"Have Luo Fei take over. I’ll head back after sorting things out here."
"Yes."
The woman gently ended the call. She tossed the phone up, tucked it into her coat, and straightened up to blend into the flow of the crowd, disappearing from sight.
