Trials of the Abyss
Chapter 738: World God Bai Zi

Chapter 738: World God Bai Zi

A high-ranking God of the ancient Fey Race!

Pang Jian was shaken to his core. He did not expect Yuan Yi, an older World God from the previous era, to be of the ancient Fey Race.

Pan Di was also a member of the Fey Race, though he hailed from the Ancient Fey World in the starry skies, while Yuan Yi came from one of the abysses in the bizarre mist.

Yuan Yi had killed Pan Di despite their shared race!

Looking down at Yuan Yi's continent-like body, Pang Jian's expression turned cold. This World God of the ancient Fey Race is truly despicable

The Nether Race woman interrupted his thoughts.

You'd best find a chance to leave. I won't be able to help much, she said as she ascended to the surface.

Pang Jian responded, You'd best worry about your own safety.

One cannot speak of ice to a summer insect, the woman snapped, her face darkening with anger. [1]

At that moment, Fa Ji exclaimed, "Bai Zi has revealed herself!"

Unfurling several banners, he sent them flying toward the Nether Race woman.

"Bai Zi, we're both World Gods, and you've always been at odds with Long Di," Fa Ji said. "Are you really planning to help him now?"

"I'm not helping Long Di. I'm standing with the warriors of the Nether Race," replied Bai Zi, the World God of the Nether Abyss. "Words are meaningless now. Fa Ji, all of you will die here in the Nether Abyss. Every one of you will perish. No one can save you."

This World God of the Nether Abyss, standing atop a golden bee and dressed in a deep green gown, drew a jade staff from her sleeve.

"Our Nether Abyss is a world even Sovereigns struggle to breach. What hope do the likes of you have?" she sneered. Then, tapping the air with her Soul Burial Staff, she shouted, "Soul Burial Chasm!"

A flicker of faint green light flared into existence. The instant it appeared, it expanded with unfathomable speed, transforming into a vast sea of green light in the blink of an eye. A magnetic force that twisted the souls of all living beings surged from within.

The Outer Gods closest to the sea of green light flew uncontrollably into the Soul Burial Chasm.

Even the banners were not spared. Demonic souls and sinister demonic eyes were pulled in one after another.

Bai Zi hovered above the sea of green light, the hem of her gown matching the color of the glowing sea, rippling with waves of mysterious radiance.

"Fa Ji, we're both high-ranking Gods, but this is the Nether Abyss. You're in my domain. What could you possibly use to defeat me, your equal?" she asked calmly.

The golden bee beneath her feet constantly shifted, its golden compound eyes locking onto one low-ranking God after another.

Any low-ranking Gods caught in its gaze would have their souls torn apart, reduced to streams of light that flowed into the sea of green light.

The Soul Burial Chasm continued to expand and even started to move. Meanwhile, Bai Zi and the golden Nether Abyss Spirit Bee locked onto one Outer God after another, tearing apart the souls of those in the distance.

It did not take long for the Soul Burial Chasm to swallow over a dozen Outer Gods, causing the golden radiance of Bai Zi's gown to grow even more radiant.

Hai Wei clicked her tongue in amazement. "Bai Zi, the high-ranking God of the Nether Abyss. She's really something else."

She then flew a good distance higher, putting as much space as she could between herself and the sea of green light.

"Even if I were a high-ranking God, I still wouldn't be a match for her. Better to say far away and not get involved," she muttered with a hint of embarrassment.

At least she knows when to back off, Pang Jian thought. Refocusing his attention on the battle below, he noted, Soul-related divine techniques... No, wait, there's more!

Narrowing his eyes, he noticed that even the divine consciousnesses of the Outer Gods were being drawn toward the Soul Burial Chasm.

Bai Zi displayed staggering combat prowess with her staff and her secret techniques. It was enough to leave Pang Jian genuinely astonished.

Pang Jian also noticed a stark difference between Bai Zi and the members of the Nether Race residing in the fragmented lands and continents above.

Based on the information he had gathered along the way, the Nether Race, like the human race, were born with relatively weak physical bodies. However, their souls were exceptionally strong, making them more suitable to cultivate soul-related techniques.

Thus, Nether Race warriors focused heavily on tempering and refining their souls, paying little attention to body refinement.

The members of the Nether Race living in luxury in the upper layers radiated impressive soul fluctuations and had energies of differing elements. Still, they all shared one common trait: a weak physical body. In that sense, they were nearly identical to the human race of the Abyss.

After advancing past the Marrow Cleansing Realm, the human race typically placed less emphasis on tempering the body and instead devoted themselves to refining their divine souls and advancing their cultivation realms.

From the Profound Abode Realm onward, every stage of advancement centered around the refinement of the divine soul.

The members of the Nether Race he had seen before were all the same, physically frail, but with a remarkably pure divine soul.

However, Bai Zi was different.

Despite her delicate appearance, the World God of the Nether Abyss released a surge of immense vitality and blood essence when she wielded her staff.

She was not born with a powerful bloodline. Like the rest of her race, her physique had natural limitations. Despite this, her body had been tempered to an astonishing degree.

Pang Jian had a feeling that Bai Zi's physical body was in no way inferior to his own back in the Abyss. In fact, it was likely far stronger.

"Step aside. All of you, move. Let me handle this." Ah Ta charged toward the Soul Burial Chasm and crashed straight into the sea of green light.

Ah Ta's courage was truly commendable. The moment he plunged into the glowing sea, the spot where he sank surged with ripples of rusted iron, golden sand, silver dust, and copper light, interwoven with his divine consciousness.

The magnetic field pulling in souls and devouring divine consciousness around the Soul Burial Chasm abruptly vanished.

"Bai Zi, your divine domain is useless against me."

Ah Ta's body burst forth from the sea of green light, gradually growing until he became a colossal presence that soared tens of thousands of zhang tall.

The radiance of the stars and the moon reflected off his skin, rippling light infused with the Dao of Metal caused his imposing body to gleam.

Looking at him was like beholding a mountain of metals, unyielding and immovable. It felt as if nothing in existence could crush that body or bring about his fall within the Nether Abyss.

"Bai Zi, you're a high-ranking God, but so am I!" The God of the Titan Race stood proudly atop the Soul Burial Chasm as he unleashed his Heavenly Dao. "Metal, converge!"

Ah Ta raised his arms with a mighty cry.

Torrents of gold, silver, copper, and iron poured from the continents and fragmented lands above, rushing toward him like a roaring flood. Even divine artifacts and lower-grade artifacts were drawn to him, falling toward him like a meteor shower.

"That's enough!" Grinning wildly, Ah Ta let out a strange laugh as he brought the gathered metal to a halt.

Everything metallic, from gold mines, iron shovels, metal walls, parts of ancient fortresses, and even grains of metallic sand, manifested within the Soul Burial Chasm. Ah Ta's divine technique had unravelled Bai Zi's, rendering it incapable of pulling in the souls of the other Outer Gods.

"Ah Ta, I owe you one!" Yuan Yi's deep voice echoed from above the continent he was covering.

Multicolored clouds of blood descended on the continent below like an apocalyptic storm, focusing on the targets he had marked.

Pang Jian's attention shifted at once. Peering past Yuan Yi's colossal body and through gaps in the swirling blood clouds, he caught sight of a vast continent beneath the deep sea. There were mountains, underwater basins, sprawling cities, and grand kingdoms, all clear signs of an advanced and intelligent race.

The civilization of the Nether Race stretched far deeper into history than that of the human race. The Nether Abyss was also the first abyss to emerge within the bizarre mist, and for much of its existence, its denizens had reigned as overlords of the bizarre mist.

Now, invading forces had swept in, the Spirit Bees outside the Nether Abyss were slain, and the silver beehives were systematically destroyed. The World Gods had even rallied their low-ranking Outer Gods subordinates to charge into the Nether Abyss.

Long Di had not reacted throughout it all.

However, Yuan Yi had brought the battle to Long Di's doorstep. There was no way Long Di, the revered leader of the Nether Gods, could simply sit back and allow Yuan Yi to run rampant with impunity.

"Long Di!" Yuan Yi roared.

Clouds thick with the suffocating stench of blood churned through the sky above the continent. They then transformed into beams of blood-red light that shot down into the mountains, cities, and kingdoms.

Any that the blood-red light struck seemed to be killed instantly, their divine souls shattering on the spot.

Pang Jian then saw a familiar crystalline radiance rising from the flurry of blood-red light, surging toward a mysterious chasm that led to the continent's core. That crystalline radiance was the Fortune of the Nether Abyss!

Instead of returning to the barrier above, as dictated by natural order after each Nether God fell, this Fortune was forcibly diverted, an unseen force twisting its course.

"Long Di! Are you really going to sit there and watch your loyal Nether Gods die?" Fa Ji taunted. "You're the leader of this world! You're older than any of us, and a high-ranking God at that! Long Di, how much longer are you going to hide?"

Fortune! Long Di is gathering Fortune! Just like Luo Hongyan in the Fifth World of the Abyss, he's forcefully altering its flow and seizing it for himself! Pang Jian's heart trembled.

He knew little about Long Di, having only heard of his fearsome reputation. Even the Rock Devourer seemed to fear this leader of the Nether Gods.

This high-ranking God ruled over the Nether Abyss. There was no way he would remain timid and hesitant forever. He was bound to reveal his strength and strike with force.

Redirecting and absorbing Fortune that doesn't originally belong to him...

Could this be Long Di's way of growing stronger to crush the invaders before him?

"Long Di!" This final shout came from the World God of the Nether Abyss. Bai Zi, too, was calling Long Di out.
