Chapter 734: Yuan Yis Agenda
Chapter 734: Yuan Yi's Agenda
Surprise flashed in Hai Wei's eyes at Pang Jian's transformation.
Blazing sunlight, gentle moonlight, and brilliant starlight poured into Pang Jian's towering multicolored Immortal Divine Soul, flowing in together with the spiritual qi of the Nether Abyss. His colossal Immortal Divine Soul, ten thousand zhang tall, absorbed the stellar, lunar, and solar energies from the sun, moon, and stars.
Bolts of lightning, invisible to the naked eye but perceptible to the Outer Gods, coursed through his body's meridians, resonating with the laws of the Nether Abyss.
This Pang Jian felt unfamiliar to her, unsettlingly alien and dangerous.
Hai Wei momentarily forgot what she was doing. Holding her World God Pendant, she softly asked, "Elder Yuan, can you feel it? He's not like us. He's not like any other being in the Nether Abyss either!"
The skeletal remains that Elder Yuan was possessing suddenly underwent a dramatic transformation!
Streams of blood surged from the pale white bones, bursting with vitality. The bones gave rise to flesh, veins, and internal viscera, and in just a few breaths, it was as if Pan Di had returned from death!
He still retained the lion-tiger hybrid form with powerful wings unfurled behind him. Blinding lightning crackled through his blood, meridians, and bones. The same lightning also pulsed within his bright silver eyes.
Pang Jian's gaze snapped toward him. The figure before him looked identical to the Thunder God of the Fey Race.
"Pan Di!" he exclaimed, feeling as though Pan Di had truly been brought back to life.
"I am Yuan Yi, not Pan Di." The older World God smiled. "Not even Sovereign Luo can truly claim to surpass me when it comes to understanding life energy. Using a bit of my power to regenerate flesh over these remains takes barely any effort at all.
"Pang Jian, when the World Tree in your Abyss grows to Rank Twelve, it will become the treasure I have long dreamed of."
It seemed Yuan Yi was finally laying bare his true desire.
"Pan Di was a Thunder God of the Fey Race, and it just so happened that I needed the body of a powerful Thunder God to challenge Long Di here in the Nether Abyss. Killing him, seizing his remains, and claiming his Dao of Lightning was for the sole purpose of dealing with Long Di.
"The Nether Race from the Nether Abyss can be regarded as an enhanced version of the Ghost Race. They, too, fear lightning. Can you bring over your Thunder Pool from the Abyss for me? It would be useful to see whether using it against Long Di would produce any results," Yuan Yi said with uncharacteristic loquaciousness.
Many nearby Outer Gods gathered around.
"Elder Yuan!"
"So it was Elder Yuan!"
"Elder Yuan, did you invite Pang Jian into the Nether Abyss?"
The Outer Gods exclaimed as they approached.
Meanwhile, the three Gods of the Celestial Race, the Ghost Race, and the Radiant Race quickly huddled behind Yuan Yi.
"Elder Yuan, back when the Duke of Thunder was still around, the Nether Race was far more well-behaved," said the Ghost Race crone. "We all know it wasn't just the Ghost Race that feared him. The Nether Race did too. After all, our soul-related techniques originally came from them.
"Elder Yuan, did this one rely on the Duke of Thunder's Thunder Pool to kill You Kui?"
Her eerie eyes flicked toward Pang Jian with visible malicious intent.
"Zi Mo has no authority over those of us born in the bizarre mist, but the reward she offered for Pang Jian was tempting, even to me."
"If you're tempted, then why not go and kill him yourself?" Yuan Yi replied indifferently,
"Oh, I wouldn't dare!" Lu Yan let out a dry chuckle and shook her head, shrinking even further behind Yuan Yi.
"Pang Jian, can you hand over the Thunder Pool to me?" Yuan Yi asked again.
Finally realizing what Yuan Yi had been scheming behind the scenes, Pang Jian returned his Immortal Divine Soul to its usual size and appearance.
"Elder Yuan, I entered the Nether Abyss as an observer. I'm merely a witness, not a participant in your invasion of the Nether Abyss and your vengeance against the Nether Race. If I give you the Thunder Pool, that would make me a participant, which goes against my original intent." Pang Jian declined, his tone tactful but firm.
"I revealed my true name to you and regenerated flesh over these skeletal remains for one reason—to give you a choice," Yuan Yi said calmly. "There are no such things as observers in this war. You either hunt down the Nether Race and annihilate their Nether Gods with us, or side with the Nether Gods against us.
"I hope you'll make the right choice before I set foot on the continent below. Otherwise, what's happening here in the Nether Abyss will soon happen to the Abyss as well, and you, Pang Jian, will be the one responsible for it."
With that threat, Yuan Yi slowly descended toward the deep sea below.
The captured Nether Race warriors across the many continents and fragmented lands started to explode one after another, their bodies bursting apart in violent death.
Streams of crimson blood essence, rich with vitality and energies, surged from their remains and poured into Yuan Yi. His aura instantly rose, growing stronger with each passing second.
"Elder Yuan, are you planning to descend directly into the continents below?"
"That's not how the plan was supposed to go!"
"Elder Yuan!"
The many Outer Gods gazed upon Yuan Yi with eyes full of reverence and awe.
"Pang Jian, Elder Yuan has given you a way out. You'd be wise not to throw it away," growled the bearded God of the Radiant Race. "The Abyss is not much stronger than the Nether Abyss. If the Nether Abyss falls, your Abyss will surely collapse even faster!"
Pang Jian did not respond to the God of the Radiant Race. He simply frowned, remaining silent as he continued to watch Yuan Yi closely.
Yuan Yi drew in more blood essence through Pan Di's body with every breath, causing it to swell and expand steadily. It was a sight that eerily reminded Pang Jian of Dong Tianze, the Blood God of the Abyss.
The power surging within Yuan Yi had initially been on par with that of the fallen God of the Titan Race, but in mere moments, it had grown far beyond that. At this rate, it would not be long before Yuan Yi reached the level of a mid-ranking God.
As Yuan Yi descended, absorbing the blood essence of the Nether Race as he went, he grew more powerful by the second.
The Thunder Pool can never be given to anyone else. A woman's voice suddenly echoed in Pang Jian's mind.
Pang Jian lowered his gaze. His eyes seemed to pierce through the water below, catching sight of a secluded valley at the sea's floor.
In that valley stood a massive, lifeless golden beehive, and atop it was a woman of the Nether Race.
She looked upward, her eyes meeting Pang Jian's across the vast distance, each silently watching the other.
