Chapter 733: Origins as a Human
After Pang Jian killed the foreign race warriors, the Outer Gods backing them immediately started converging on his location.
Leading the charge was a God of the Titan Race with three heads and six arms. His presence was overwhelming, towering like a ten-thousand-zhang-tall mountain with a different weapon in each of his six hands. He wielded a club, a blade, a fork, chains made of bones, and a black iron shield.
"Nether God, prepare to die!" he roared in fury.
Atop each of his three heads crouched other Outer Gods—one from the Ghost Race, one from the Celestial Race, and one from the Radiant Race. Including the God of the Titan Race, four Outer Gods had appeared on the battlefield.
"Elder Yuan, are you going to step in or not?" Pang Jian asked with a frown.
The foreign races from the Nether Abyss were like mere fish and shrimp; if they died, so be it. However, the World Gods had specially invited these four Outer Gods here. Their lives were surely not as expendable.
"The Abyss will face the same kind of situation soon enough," Elder Yuan said, sidestepping the question. He even took the initiative to put some distance between himself and Pang Jian as he added, "The Nether Abyss's restrictions upon divine beings are gradually loosening. Even low-ranking Gods can enter now. Your Abyss will follow the same trend before long. I hope you're prepared for it when the time comes."
Pang Jian's expression darkened. "I'm asking if you truly don't care whether they live or die."
"I'm actually more interested in how you managed to kill You Kui, a mid-ranking God."
"Very well."
With a thought, Pang Jian established a connection with his physical body in the Fifth World of the Abyss, deep within the barrier of surging demonic energy. He intended to tear open a spatial rift and retrieve an artifact worthy of this battle.
The Thunder Pool, Five Thunder Annihilation, and Ghostflare were all still with his physical body.
Just as a narrow spatial rift was about to take shape, Pang Jian noticed a ripple of divine sense quietly emanating from deep within Pan Di's hollow eye sockets. The older World God, known as Elder Yuan, was staring intently at the spatial rift!
Pang Jian abruptly recalled Elder Yuan's scrutiny of the spatial rift outside the Nether Abyss as well. This Elder Yuan seemed extremely interested in the Abyss, perhaps even seeking to enter it directly.
Elder Yuan had killed Pan Di, hid within his remains to follow Pang Jian here, and then brought him into the Nether Abyss with an invitation that was more coercion than courtesy. His actions were suspicious, and his intentions were clearly impure.
Pang Jian sealed the spatial rift shut before it could fully form. Sure enough, the ripple of divine sense surging from Elder Yuan's eye sockets also faded away, and a tangible disappointment radiated from the World God.
"You're on guard against me?" Elder Yuan asked softly.
"One can never be too cautious."
Elder Yuan nodded. "Caution is wise."
At that moment, the massive God of the Titan Race descended like a crashing mountain. A massive, pitch-black club swept down with the roar of wind and thunder, smashing toward Pang Jian with tremendous force.
"Die!" the God of the Titan Race roared, his voice reverberating like rolling thunder from the heavens.
The thousand-mu area surrounding Pang Jian erupted. The wreckage and bodies from the earlier battle exploded from the force of the Titan God's cry. Divine power swept up the debris, bones, and chunks of flesh before hurling them toward Pang Jian with deadly force.
At the same time, the already massive club grew larger and larger, carrying with it a crushing force. That overwhelming pressure bore down heavily on Pang Jian.
The Gods of the Ghost Race, the Celestial Race, and the Radiant Race, perched atop the three heads of the Titan God, stared down at Pang Jian with cold indifference, though none joined the attack.
"A rather dim-witted Nether God, isn't he?"
"Yeah, probably just returned from the outside. Doesn't seem to understand the situation in the Nether Abyss."
"If he's a Nether God, this is where he should die."
The three Gods commented callously, believing that the God of the Titan Race alone would be enough to end Pang Jian's life.
In the distance, Hai Wei also looked up, her gaze fixed on Pang Jian's every move. "If you truly had the strength to kill You Kui, then you'll be more than capable of handling a few low-ranking Gods. Even if all four are from abysses, low-ranking Gods are still just that, low-ranking Gods."
The other Outer Gods rushing over stopped at a distance when they saw the Titan God and three others confronting Pang Jian. They felt there was no need to intervene. Once Pang Jian was dead, they would simply turn back and resume their own affairs.
Suddenly, a colossal figure, over ten thousand zhang tall and wreathed in multicolored radiance, burst into view.
All the incoming metal shards, bones, torn flesh, and droplets of blood struck Pang Jian's massive Immortal Divine Soul without even leaving a scratch. It was barely even enough to tickle.
Casually lifting his hand, he caught the massive pitch-black club mid-swing.
"Give me that." With a single tug, the club was wrested away from the God of the Titan Race.
Pang Jian swung the club several times, striking the God of the Titan Race with thunderous blows. Each hit landed with devastating force, causing the towering God's bones to crack and splinter with deafening crunches.
"Die," Pang Jian calmly echoed the same word the Titan God had yelled before. Though he did not even raise his voice, the divine soul of the Titan God shattered immediately.
Ghostly white lightning, like writhing worms and serpents, streamed out from the Titan God's eye sockets, nostrils, and ears.
The three Gods from the Celestial Race, the Ghost Race, and the Radiant Race recoiled in horror, putting distance between themselves and the dead God of the Titan Race. Their eyes were filled with shock and uncertainty as they stared at Pang Jian.
"He's not from the Nether Race!"
"Nether Gods wield all sorts of strange powers and are especially skilled in soul-related techniques, but lightning? Never!"
"If he's not of the Nether Race, then..." The God of the Ghost Race, a gaunt old crone radiating eerie yin energy, froze. Her murky green eyes widened in terror as she shrieked, "He's a human! H-he's Pang Jian!"
This Outer God, Lu Yan, hailed from the Ghost Abyss. Though she refused to answer Zi Mo's summons, she had nonetheless heard about You Kui's death.
Both she and You Kui were Gods of the Ghost Race, but while she came from an abyss, You Kui was a mid-ranking God from the starry skies. She had once met You Kui and knew all too well how powerful he was, so the news of his death naturally left a deep impression on her.
"A human!"
"A True God of the human race!"
"He's the one He Motian and Zi Mo have been desperately searching for!"
A wave of shock rippled through the gathered Outer Gods. Their expressions shifted, and the way they looked at him changed entirely.
They all knew what it meant for a human to ascend to godhood and break free of the Abyss. The True Gods had dared to destroy the Hall of Gods, a symbol of supreme authority, in the starry skies beyond.
