Chapter 82 Retirement
Chapter 82: Chapter 82 Retirement
"There’s an opening!"
Chadite shouted, her fist striking Alka in a deliberately slow attack.
The punch sent Alka flying backward, and he crashed onto a nearby soft mat. Alka remained on the mat, sprawled out.
Seeing Alka’s state, Chadite walked over with a smile, extended her hand, and pulled him up.
"Don’t be discouraged. You’re learning fast."
Hearing this, Alka could only shrug helplessly.
Recently, Andre had been orchestrating something on Meister Island, so they were resting and training on a nearby island. Alka was currently undergoing special close-combat training with Chadite.
When it came to close combat, Alka’s skills were infantile compared to Chadite’s. Even though Chadite had slowed her attacks enough for Alka to see them clearly, it was still a complete rout.
However, compared to being knocked out with a single punch at the beginning, Alka had improved significantly. He could now last more than ten exchanges with Chadite.
Lucilia, whom only Alka could see, watched from the side with a chuckle.
"You’ve been training all morning. Take a break," Chadite said, adjusting her silver hair ornament.
Under the sunlight, beads of sweat trickled down strands of her hair. Her cool cotton vest, damp with sweat, clung to her back, outlining her perfect figure.
Alka reached out, casually spreading his empty hand, and two clean towels materialized there.
"Thanks." Chadite smiled, taking the towel. "Pocket Rings are really convenient. I want to get one custom-made after we get paid this time."
Chadite said, her gaze fixed on the ring on Alka’s right pinky finger.
Upon hearing her, Alka smiled. He had already linked the Pocket Ring on his pinky finger with his Magic Power. The ring contained a 1x1x2 space. A mere flicker of Magic Power allowed him to retrieve items from within or store items from the outside into it.
The card pistols Alka used, along with other items, were all stored in the ring. This included his more valuable money. The memory of losing his money last time was still vivid; now, with this ring, such an incident was unlikely to happen again.
"How much is a ring like this usually worth?" Alka couldn’t help but ask.
Chadite thought for a moment and said, "Old Bobby said that the price is determined by the ring’s storage space—the larger the space, the higher the price. Something this convenient requires a master craftsman. A ring with as much space as yours would cost at least 80 Golden Sails."
Hearing this, Alka couldn’t help but touch his ring.
Eighty Golden Sails? So expensive? Am I running around with one and a half No. 5 Treasure Vaults on my hand?
Chadite saw Alka’s expression and smiled. "Understand? You must never tell anyone the exact capacity of your ring in the future."
She then turned and walked towards the island’s edge. Their ship was anchored by the shore; after all, this was just a deserted island. As they approached the shore, they saw Andre on the ship. It seemed he had returned.
Andre seemed to be waiting for them, and he waved as they drew near. After boarding, they followed Andre into the captain’s cabin.
Everyone else was already there. In the center of the captain’s cabin, a pile of glittering objects was neatly stacked on a wide table—Golden Sails, one after another. Each Golden Sail was as large as a palm. Piled up like that, the sight made one’s eyes sparkle.
"The Governor of Meister Island has been replaced," Andre announced. "It won’t be long before their family might cease to exist entirely."
Hearing this, everyone smiled.
Andre then walked over and tapped the Golden Sails on the table. "There are 625 Golden Sails here in total. This is from selling the locations of two Treasure Vaults and the treasures within."
"625!?"
Everyone was inevitably shocked by this number. They had anticipated a large haul this time, especially since they had spent nearly two years working towards it, but they hadn’t expected it to be *this* enormous.
Seeing their astonished faces, even Andre couldn’t help but beam. "That scandal was quite valuable, hahaha! Alright, let’s start the distribution. Twenty-five will be allocated to the team treasury for regular operational funds. This covers various expenses like ammunition, food supplies, ship repairs, and maintenance."
He continued, "Of the remaining 600, Alka will directly receive 100. Any objections?"
No one voiced any objection to Andre’s proposed distribution. After all, Alka’s contributions were clear for everyone to see. Even though he had already received a piece of Magic Equipment, he still deserved additional financial compensation.
"Since the Magic Equipment has already been distributed to those with extra contributions, the remainder will be divided equally," Andre concluded.
Alka held his Gold Coin Bag. The 100 Golden Sails weighed several dozen pounds. It was a hefty weight, all solid gold.
Such immense wealth gave Alka a surreal feeling. He could retire on the spot and live as a wealthy man for the rest of his life, perhaps even for several generations.
Everyone present was visibly overjoyed. This was an immense fortune, not just for Alka, but for every single one of them.
"Is anyone here planning to retire?" Andre turned to the group and asked.
Hearing this, Alka abruptly raised his head. What does he mean by that?
Just then, Old Bobby slowly raised his hand. "These old bones of mine can’t take it anymore," he said. "It’s time for me to leave the ship and rest."
Andre nodded at him, apparently having anticipated this, showing no surprise. "Alright, everyone get some rest. We’re preparing to set sail. Our destination is the Great Cathedral!"
As they left the captain’s cabin, Jason walked over and placed a hand on Old Bobby’s shoulder. "Old Bobby, so you’re really leaving," Jason said.
"Mhm, this is the perfect opportunity, isn’t it?" Old Bobby replied.
"It is. Have you decided where you’ll settle down?"
"I’m a devotee of the Holy Mother. Now that I have the money, of course, I’ll settle down near the Great Cathedral."
Chadite, standing next to Alka, remarked, "Old Bobby is already sixty. This fortune is enough for him to live comfortably for the rest of his life. It truly is time for him to leave the ship."
Hearing this, Alka nodded in understanding.
Yes, that makes sense. Don’t people join a Treasure Hunting Team for treasure and wealth in the first place? Now that they’ve achieved their goal, and considering their physical condition, retirement is a natural step. They can’t just keep drifting at sea until they die. Sixty years old is certainly an age for retirement, especially from the rigors of life at sea.
