Chapter 65: The Treasure of Youth
Chapter 65: Chapter 65: The Treasure of Youth
After a few days of sailing, the "Sea Fist" finally reached its destination: Holy Armor Island, located within the Holy Mother Church’s sphere of influence. It slowly stopped at a berth in the port.
Since they were within the Holy Mother Church’s sphere of influence, Andre directly addressed the crew, "We’ll only stay on the island for half a day. We must be back on the ship by 6 p.m. The rest of the time is yours to do as you please." Having said that, he jumped off the ship and headed toward the nearby port town.
As a secret subordinate force of the Church, Andre only needed to go directly to the church in town and present his request; the local church would naturally make the preparations for him. After all, they already had a basic understanding from before. The Golden Horn Hammer, though rare, wasn’t too uncommon on Holy Armor Island, as the island specialized in the ecological protection of such insects.
Looking at the brand-new island he had never set foot on before, Alka couldn’t help but turn to Chadite beside him.
"Chadite, do you have a map of the island?"
"Is your obsession acting up?" Jason elbowed Alka, laughing teasingly.
After more than a month together, they had, more or less, come to understand Alka’s penchant for maps.
Chadite shook his head. "No, I’ve never been to this island either. But a map of a touristy island like this shouldn’t be hard to buy. You should be able to get one in town."
Holy Armor Island attracted many insect enthusiasts due to its abundance of insects and the protective measures in place. A glance at the size of the port and the numerous ships docked around gave a hint of this.
"Then let’s go stroll around the island too and see if we can find any materials," Alka said, jumping off the ship.
Since becoming a ’Toucher’ a few days ago, his physical constitution had been steadily improving. Chadite, being a Cartographer, was also interested in maps, so he followed. As for Jason, the three of them were the youngest of the ship’s core members, so of course, they stuck together.
"Wait for me!"
The trio arrived at the town just beyond the port. The town was comparable in size to Tulan Island. The island was indeed rich with insect-themed elements: insect statues on buildings, insect murals on walls, and various stalls selling decorations with insect motifs. All of this attested to it.
After a short while, Chadite successfully bought a map, and Alka also found the materials he wanted in other shops.
"Here, this is the map of the island." Chadite had bought two copies and handed one to Alka.
Alka took the map, unfolded it, and blinked. The map wasn’t extremely detailed, but it meticulously marked the divisions of each area.
As the detection prompt sounded, a light point appeared on the map.
Just one.
A blue light point.
Alka brushed his hand over the map.
[Burial Ground of Dreams]
[Difficulty: Adult]
[Fame: 0]
[Treasure Information: In his youth, Sad was a famous Treasure Hunter and adventurer. The shattering of his dream path led him to leave what he had prepared for that journey here forever.]
Sad again? How much does this guy love to hide things? Alka mused. But judging from the information, it was likely something hidden during his youth, in his adventuring phase. Moreover, its Fame was 0, meaning no one currently knew he had once hidden something here. Also, judging from the information, it wasn’t likely hidden deliberately but was more a way of severing ties with the past. The Difficulty was merely Adult.
Looking at the location marked on the map, Alka asked, "I’m going to explore a bit more. Want to come?"
The two shook their heads.
"I’m heading back to the ship. I hate insects." Having bought the map, Chadite had no desire to linger on this insect-infested island. With that, he headed directly for the port.
Jason shrugged at Alka, then leaned in and whispered, "I found a fun place. Want to go together?" As he spoke, he nodded toward the distance.
Alka turned and looked.
Without hesitation, Alka turned away. "You go by yourself. I’m not interested."
"You’re still too young," Jason chuckled. "You’ll understand how fun this place is later." He then quickly headed off in the direction he had indicated.
How could that possibly be more exciting than treasure? Alka thought, looking at the map. The point marked on it was at the edge of the island, presumably on the coast, not far from the port.
A small path from the port led him to a beach on the side of the island. Looking at the surroundings, it seemed very few people ever came here. Considering the Difficulty level... He recalled his first search for Jack’s treasure. There had been almost no difficulty; he just needed to find the specific location.
"Why did you come here?" Lucilia asked, still clinging to Alka’s back.
"Treasure hunting."
"Treasure hunting? But you only just arrived on this island, didn’t you?"
"I discovered the clues for this back in Meister. It’s something Sad hid again."
"Oh? Why does that man love hiding things so much?" Lucilia wondered.
"If I die in the future," Alka said, "I’ll gather all my belongings, hide them well, and then spread rumors about them."
Hearing Alka’s words, Lucilia tilted her head, completely puzzled. "Why?"
"Isn’t that romantic?"
Lucilia looked utterly bewildered. How is that romantic?
He arrived at the location marked by the blue dot. It was right at the edge of the coast. He looked at the black volcanic rock beneath his feet and scanned the surroundings; there were no cliffs anywhere nearby.
Alka stomped on the ground. "It should be under here," he muttered. But where’s the entrance?
Things could only be hidden underground here. But with this rocky surface, there had to be another way into the space below.
Just then, Alka suddenly looked at the pale, slender arms wrapped around his neck.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"You... can you pass through obstacles like this?"
"Mm-hm."
A smile touched Alka’s lips upon hearing Lucilia’s affirmation. "Would you be willing to help me with something?"
Lucilia, floating in the air, stared into Alka’s eyes. A hint of pleasant surprise flashed in hers as she said, "You want me to go down and see if I can find a path, right?"
"Yes. How about it? I’ll give you a share of the treasure."
"Haha, no problem!" Lucilia grinned, her face alight with excitement, and then she sank straight down into the ground.
Watching Lucilia disappear completely into the earth, Alka couldn’t help but murmur, I’ve really struck gold. She’s incredibly useful!
