Chapter 130: Chapter 130 Astonishing

Yang Sheng, who has always been elusive, left again for some days this time. Le Tong knew he went to Y Country on behalf of Ji Rui to deal with matters regarding Ji Wen and Ji Wu.

After the hacker issue was resolved, all employees from Jisu Company, led by Zhong Hao, finally withdrew from the Ji Family. President Ji’s office returned to its usual quiet state.

"President, Director Chen’s secretary just called, asking us to submit the bidding document within this week."

Le Tong, holding a tablet, stood beside Ji Rui, reporting the work.

"Mm."

Ji Rui didn’t look up, his eyes focused on the documents spread out on the table.

Le Tong was already used to Ji Rui’s ability to multitask. As long as he responded, it meant he was listening. So she continued, "There are several documents from the development project that Assistant Yang is in charge of that need approval. The departments below are waiting to get to work, could you please review them as soon as possible, President?"

"Mm."

"Additionally..."

Ji Rui suddenly raised his head, interrupting her, "How do you feel about your current job?"

Le Tong was momentarily stunned, unsure if he was probing or genuinely concerned about how she felt about the work.

"President, if there’s anything I’m not doing well, just tell me directly!"

Although Le Tong didn’t consider herself unintelligent, facing the deep and mysterious Ji Rui was often mentally exhausting for her.

Compared to pretending to understand, Le Tong preferred to ask when uncertain. At least that way, she could get a clear answer instead of making assumptions on her own.

Their eyes met – his were deep and unreadable, hers clear and piercing.

"Here’s this proposal. Take a look, and if you have any opinions or different ideas, feel free to mention them. Draft a new proposal for me."

Ji Rui didn’t directly answer Le Tong’s question. Instead, he closed the document he had been looking at and handed it to her.

Le Tong looked at him with some hesitation, "President, isn’t this the Planning Department’s work?"

Ji Rui looked at her impassively, "Are you picking your assignments?"

Le Tong remained silent, took the document he handed over, placed it on the table, and continued the work report she hadn’t finished.

After completing the report, Le Tong didn’t ask Ji Rui about the intention behind his previous action. She silently picked up the document and left to attend to her tasks.

Regarding the proposal, Le Tong treated it as an additional task and didn’t prioritize it as urgent. She even thought about taking it home and working on it slowly.

In the past six months as a secretary, she had come across many proposals, but never had the opportunity to create one herself. Therefore, she would likely need a lot of reference materials. Whether Ji Rui assigned this task to challenge her or offer her an opportunity, she decided to take it as a chance for her personal growth.

Ji Rui gave Le Tong a week to complete the proposal.

Le Tong worked on it at home for several nights. Some materials could not be found online, so she noted them down, planning to visit the library on Sunday and perhaps visit Uncle Zhong whom she hadn’t seen in a while.

During busy days, time flies by. In the blink of an eye, it was already Saturday.

In the afternoon, Luo Yifan sent a driver to pick up Le Tong.

Previously, Luo Yifan had instructed that Le Tong should put on makeup and change outfits at the Luo Family’s house. Le Tong, who wasn’t well-versed in these matters, found his arrangement to be quite refreshing. At ease, she chatted away with the driver as they drove.

"Miss Le, you are the first non-relative female companion at the young master’s birthday party."

Actually, Yuan’er had already informed Le Tong about this.

In the past, Luo Yifan would hold a birthday party or cocktail party days before his birthday. Le Tong, who disliked socializing, never participated and only attended gatherings with a few close friends on his actual birthday.

But at all his previous birthday parties, the female companion was invariably Yuan’er.

Because of this, Le Tong was deeply reluctant to be his companion for this year’s birthday. If she hadn’t first committed to him and couldn’t refuse his request, under normal circumstances, she would never do something so foolish as to entangle herself in a situation like this!

Luo Yifan’s house, right next to Yuan’er’s, was a luxurious villa with a large garden. Its structure was similar to Yuan’er’s home, indicating the Luo brothers’ similar taste at a glance.

The car drove into the parking lot, and from a distance, they could see Yuan’er waiting at the side.

"Tongtong, why are you so late?"

As soon as the car stopped, the anxious Yuan’er opened the car door and leaned forward to ask Le Tong.

"Traffic jam."

Le Tong replied as she got out of the car. Yuan’er took her by the arm and led her toward the villa.

"See, I said it must be the traffic making you late, but my brother wouldn’t believe it. He kept rushing me to wait here for you. The wind is so strong, I almost got dried out by it!"

Casually dressed like Le Tong, Yuan’er also had a bare face and her hair down straight.

What Yuan’er said gave Le Tong quite a bit of pressure, and she even felt like turning around and running away.

Some things she had always tried to ignore and pretend not to understand, but recently, playing dumb seemed to be less and less effective.

"Yuan’er, I don’t know anything. Please stay with me and give me some pointers."

Le Tong didn’t like relying on others. Her request to Yuan’er was just a way to keep Yuan’er tied to her side. This way, perhaps she could avoid being alone with Luo Yifan too much.

"No worries, I’ll stick by you! Even if not for your sake, I would do so for my brother’s reputation."

Yuan’er didn’t know Le Tong’s actual thoughts. She merely assumed Le Tong was genuinely nervous and sought her assistance, so she patted her chest to assure Le Tong.

Le Tong felt slightly relieved after getting her promise.

Yuan’er led Le Tong through the back door, bypassing the hall, and into a room. The overwhelming scent of perfume immediately signaled to Le Tong that this was a dedicated dressing room.

Inside, like a professional makeup room, one side of the wall had a large mirror with a long row of chairs in front of it. A few young women were currently getting their makeup done on the chairs.

Le Tong and Yuan’er sat side by side, and soon two makeup artists emerged. In about an hour, they transformed Le Tong into someone even she couldn’t recognize.

The purple gown, worn on her, accentuated her skin like ice and snow, with exposed, slender yet alluring shoulders, along with delicately beautiful facial features that radiated charm. Her slender, tall, and gracefully curvy figure seemed to captivate everyone.

Standing in front of the mirror, Le Tong appeared like a celestial being detached from the world. Yuan’er, who had known her for years, was left gaping in disbelief, "Tongtong, is that really you? Are you sure you didn’t just get a makeover?"

Joining Yuan’er in being amazed by Le Tong’s transformation was the main character of the day, Luo Yifan!

Stunned, Luo Yifan stood silent for a few seconds, before finally taking Le Tong’s hand from Yuan’er and exclaiming, "Tongtong, you look truly beautiful!"
