Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Brother-in-law is the Ex 97_1
Huang Jing had no idea what to say anymore; some people were just unbelievable.
You just knew who would be the angriest, right? By now they must be about to explode.
Ho Zhen had always known not to expect Huang Lei to be the brainy type. If she had any brains at all, she wouldn’t have fallen to such a state.
But he had never imagined someone’s brain could be this stupid.
Ho Zhen truly didn’t know how to describe it; she didn’t seem like an idiot on the surface, yet her actions were truly speechless.
"Can’t you spend some money to buy something?" Ho Zhen had never thought Huang Lei could come up with such antics.
"Those are your own parents, and yet you still pull off such maneuvers." There was a chill in Ho Zhen’s heart; even Huang Lixin and his wife, who treated her so well, would not be spared by Huang Lei’s manipulations.
If he ever encountered trouble in the future, could he really expect this woman to treat him well? Probably she’d just "pull the plug."
The more Ho Zhen thought about it, the more he regretted why he even bothered to hope for anything from the Huang family. Even if Huang Lixin and his wife pitied them enough to offer help, it was no use if someone kept digging their own grave.
"You keep saying your parents are biased, blaming them for this and that, that they have money but don’t want to give it to you."
"If I were them, seeing you behave like this, I wouldn’t give you any money either," Ho Zhen scolded Huang Lei while driving.
Of course, Huang Lei was indignant, "Wasn’t I just trying to save a little?"
Really, doesn’t she think about why she’s doing this in the end?
Ho Zhen was really irked by what Huang Lei said, "Fine, fine, fine, your thinking is right. If you insist on saying that, there’s nothing I can do."
Ho Zhen didn’t want to talk to Huang Lei anymore and drove towards Shencheng, deciding it was best for him to buy gifts for the parents himself.
If he left it to that woman, he didn’t know what kind of gifts she would end up buying.
Huang Lei may not care about her parents, but he couldn’t disregard them. It wasn’t because he was exceptionally filial, but he knew if he dared to do so, the two at home would never let him off the hook.
Huang Lei fumed to herself, endlessly complaining, "My parents really know how to look down on people, all they think about is kissing Huang Jing’s ass. But does she even care about them?"
"They know we haven’t bought a house yet, that we’re just renting, but they’ve never offered to lend a hand."
"They clearly said they would give a big red packet when I got married."
"But now that I’m married, I’ve got nothing." The more Huang Lei thought about it, the more she found Zhang Xiaoya to be not just unreasonable, but extremely so.
Ho Zhen, driving, really didn’t want to listen to someone’s incessant babbling, it made his head feel like it was about to explode.
He couldn’t help but say, "Can you just shut up for once? You go on and on without end."
"What’s the use of telling all this to me?"
"You should be telling your parents." Really, coming back nearly once every half a month, though they did buy their favorite dishes, the problem was, they didn’t give any money.
This had dashed the hopeful Ho Zhen’s expectations, especially with such a dumb action from an idiot. There was truly no point in expecting anything.
By then, he wouldn’t want to come back at all. For Ho Zhen, a deal with no benefits was not worth doing, obviously, a losing trade.
Right then, thinking of Huang Jing mentioning that the house was already theirs, a three-bedroom apartment over a hundred square meters, even if it was in the suburbs, it meant having a home.
Ho Zhen sighed inwardly once more; if only he hadn’t made a stupid mistake in the past, maybe he, too, would be considered a successful man now.
Huang Lei’s sudden outburst of temper had frightened Ho Zhen more than a little. If it had been before, she surely would have retorted, but now, she didn’t dare.
Seeing Huang Lei quiet down, Ho Zhen knew she was in a bad mood, but he had no desire to offer comfort.
Identical twin sisters, yet the difference between them turned out to be so huge, it was incredulous to him.
Unaware of Ho Zhen’s renewed regret over his infidelity, Huang Jing had finished visiting the last of the relatives and was driving towards Shencheng.
Originally, she planned to return to Shencheng the next day, having booked a flight for the afternoon, but now she was unexpectedly heading back earlier.
When Huang Jing got home and was about to open the door, Shen Lan was just getting ready to leave, and they looked at each other.
"You?" Shen Lan remembered she wasn’t supposed to be back until tomorrow. Why had she come back early?
"Visiting relatives went smoothly, so I decided to head home earlier." Although it was already past eight, Huang Jing guessed he probably hadn’t had dinner yet.
"I haven’t eaten yet, join me?" They couldn’t say they enjoyed chatting a lot, but at least eating together wouldn’t be too awkward.
Shen Lan also felt hungry and was thinking of stopping by a convenience store to find something to eat, but he didn’t expect to run into Huang Jing.
"Okay." Shen Lan readily agreed, standing at the door, waiting for Huang Jing to go inside to put away her things and freshen up a bit.
When they reached the door, they realized that the usually bustling shops were already starting to close for the night.
Alright, the nearby companies were mostly closed for the holiday, so for these shops that were otherwise open all year round, it was a good opportunity to take an extended break during Spring Festival.
But for Huang Jing and him, this was quite a problem—how were they going to solve the issue of dinner?
Of course, there was a solution, which was to drive to the city center, but for Huang Jing, that was really too much trouble.
Glancing at the small supermarket that was open, she suggested, "Let’s have hot pot. We’ll buy some mutton and beef, and then some vegetables."
Huang Jing thought this was quite convenient, especially since there were some udon noodles at home, which could serve as their main dish.
As for eating, Shen Lan was easygoing, "Anything is fine."
The next afternoon, the two of them arrived at the airport, ready to take the flight. They had considered taking separate flights, one after the other, but later on, they thought there was no need for that.
If someone saw them, it might seem like a big problem—why not take the same flight? It was better to be open about it.
Upon reaching the airport, they completed the check-in process and were ready to go through security.
What they didn’t expect was to run into Huang Lei and Ho Zhen at the airport. Huang Jing really felt like cursing—what were the odds?
It was one thing to run into them yesterday, as everyone was returning for the Spring Festival, but to encounter Ho Zhen and his spouse at the airport seemed like too much of a coincidence.
Huang Jing was full of surprise, and frankly, so was Huang Lei—who might have wanted to curse as well. What were the chances that they would run into each other two days in a row?
Huang Lei looked unhappily at Huang Jing, who could only express helplessness—who would have guessed they’d end up on the same flight today?
The only thing they could be thankful for was that they seemed to be taking a domestic flight, while she was on an international one, so they wouldn’t be together.
When Ho Zhen saw Huang Jing, he was thrilled, thinking what a strange twist of fate it was to bump into her in such a huge airport.
Ho Zhen felt it was destiny. Just as he was about to greet Huang Jing, he didn’t expect to hear a male voice.
"Huang Jing, I’m ready. Let’s go," said Shen Lan who had just received a phone call.
Huang Jing acknowledged with an "Okay" and smiled at Huang Lei and her spouse before passing through the security check with Shen Lan.
Ho Zhen knew Huang Jing had gone on vacation and initially thought her so-called friend was Xia Ke, her only friend in recent years.
But he didn’t expect that it turned out to be a shockingly unexpected friend—a man.
Ho Zhen hesitated, "Has Huang Jing found a boyfriend?"
Huang Lei had no clue, quickly taking out her phone to snap a photo of their backs, sending it to Zhang Xiaoya.
At this moment, she had only one thought in her heart: why did Huang Jing’s new boyfriend seem so much better than Ho Zhen?
He was tall and looked like a true professional, his stride and everything else about him seemed so much stronger than Ho Zhen’s by many times over.
