Chapter 90: Ch. 42 Part 1

When Yanzhi’s carriage got to King Pingxi’s residence, they could see servants outside hanging red auspicious decorations. With only a day before Jinhua’s marriage, the servants had began to decorate the residence. Preparations had long started before they first arrived at the residence, but the decorations were put on hold until now.

Like the palace and residence of the royal families and aristocrat families, there were several gateways into ones residence. And King Pingxi’s residence had about five gateways. The front gateway which is the main gateway of the residence, north, south, east and west gateways. Yanzhi decided them not use the main gate and avoid disturbances and instead use the east gateway which was closer to their allocated courtyard. His little wife was too tired to accompany people for small meaningless talks, so he chose to avoid the people in the main house and take his little wife back to their courtyard to rest and regain back his strength. His little wife’s completion was depressing to him because it wasn’t as rosy as when they first left the house, but it was much better than a couple of minutes ago when there was no colour on his little wife’s face.

The guards allocated at the east gateway recognize Yanzhi’s carriage which was coming towards them at once upon getting a glimpse of it. They quickly opened the gates even before the carriage reached them, and stood with an bow. Number 6 drove the carriage into the residence smoothly, without having to make a stop.

Yanzhi carried Xiao Ling who had fell asleep into his arms bridal style and got down from the carriage with Yue and Liu as they made their way to their courtyard. They bypass several guards and servants who were busy with decorations and preparations of the coming union joining. Yanzhi walked without stopping and only returning with a nod whenever the servants bowed and greeted him at a glimpse.

When they got to their courtyard, Chang was focused and displaying some actions of a martial arts technique to number 7, Lixin and Xile who had their undivided attentions on him. They stopped seeing YanZhi walked in with the others.

"Master you’re back!" Chang put a stop to what he was doing and ran to greet Yanzhi.

But Yanzhi didn’t stop and neither said anything, with a stoic face he walked past them ignoring them without so much as word. He glimpsed upon a man looking in his sixties to seventies with a pale face and was resting under the big plum tree in the courtyard from the left corner of his eye. That person was no other than old Fei, old Fei upon sensing another presence in the courtyard turned to see YanZhi walked by like a gust of wind, he quickly scurried to his feet and wanted to approach but Yanzhi didn’t give a chance and walked directly into the house and to his and Xiao Ling’s room.

Yue stopped old from making any advance to follow Yanzhi, blocking his path. "Who are you? And what do you want?" she asked sharply, showing no friendliness.

Old Fei was panicked by Yue’s sudden approach and blocking his way. He was flustered by her questioning look which was full of doubts and disdained of him.

"Eldest sister Yue, he is a friend of King Pingxi’s, and young master Jinhua’s uncle. Young master Jinhua brought him here to meet master, he he he..." Chang informed as he smiled sheepishly.

Being informed of his identify, Yue glanced lightly at old Fei having no impression of him. "Junior greets this elder. But this elder.... master is preoccupied now, so i plead that you return back later when master is not preoccupied." Her words were simple and politely, she spoke not overbearing as she saluted along with Liu.

Uncle Fei understood the meaning behind her words loud and clear, he was also happy that she spoke to him with respect even though it wasn’t from her heart.

"This old man thanks the senior for her kind words, but this one would like to wait here for his excellency." old Fei saluted and said with respect as he humbled himself to Yue, not caring that he was old enough to be her father.

Yue was stunned by his politeness and the way he was humbling himself to her, she turned sharply to Chang with a frown.

"He he he, eldest sister i only spared with him for a bit. It was the request of young master Jinhua" Chang quickly explained nervously, but Yue just glared fiercely at him and said nothing.

"Elder sister really, it was just a small spar and nothing else. I really didn’t cause any trouble and it was really at the request of young master Jinhua....you can even ask Junior brothers." he anxiously explained once more, but still Yue didn’t say anything and rather took her sights from him. Chang felt distressed "fourth elder sister..." just as he was about to move over to Liu, she quickly changed her position.

"Deal with the aftermath yourself, explain to master and not us" she said without pity. Chang was depressed, he couldn’t help but shiver thinking how he was going to explain to master when he really didn’t cause any trouble himself.

"It seems this old man has put senior Chang in a difficult position, this old man apologize. I was excited when i came to see them practicing martial arts, that’s why I ask my nephew requested of senior Chang to give me some pointers, this old man didn’t mean to make things difficult for you." Old Fei explained honestly seeing the reactions of Yue and Liu.

"This elder doesn’t have to worry about that since junior brother Chang will take all responsibility in explaining to master..."

"Eldest sister Yue!" Chang was aggrieved.

But Yue didn’t mind his aggrieved look and continued with what she was saying. "Since this elder will like to wait for master, junior will lead you to wait in the hall but junior doesn’t know when master will be done with what he is doing"

"Forgive me, this old one forgot to introduce himself to senior. I am named Lang Fei, senior doesn’t have to bother i will wait out here for his excellency." old Fei said humbly.

"Junior Yue will comply with elder Lang’s wishes. Then junior Yue will go ahead first" she said politely before walking away with Liu, it didn’t matter how humble old Fei was to her but since he was an elder she will address him as one, because in reality she was nothing more than a very young child even though she looks to be the age of a young woman. Chang quickly followed behind, old Fei watched their retrieving backs with envy and respect thinking such young ones had reached a very high stage of martial arts at their ages. When he spared with Chang for pointers he was helpless and couldn’t even land one hit on Chang.

"Eldest sister Yue and elder sister Liu please wait for me" Chang called out as he ran to meet up with them. "What happened to mistress?" his demeanor turned serious as he asked with worry.

"Mistress has exhausted his strength when he brought back some mortals back from the dead... didn’t you feel mistress’s breath earlier? It spread afar." Liu answered with seriousness.

"Did you forget, master set up a barrier formation covering up the whole courtyard, so of course i didn’t feel mistress’s breath." Chang said in reminder to her.

"I forgot, since this isn’t home" Liu replied with just that, they had no any sort of attachments to this place, they only took this temporal residence just like the inns they spent the nights in on their journey here. Just like those inns, they will soon leave this place so Liu forgot that Yanzhi had set up a barrier formation for their privacy to cloak off what they do from the curious eyes of others.

"Well you don’t need to worry, mistress will be fine after a couple of hour’s rest.....what you should worry about is how to explain you sparing with a stranger without master’s permission" Yue cut in and assured, then taunted him as she and Liu walked into the house.

Chang was left standing and feeling really aggrieved as he watch their backs disappeared into the house...how can his day be this bad, he was just unlucky. Not long ago Yanzhi seized his upcoming next batches of elixirs and cultivation materials because he angered him, and now this... Chang didn’t want to think about what punishment he will receive for this.

In the room, Yanzhi slowly and gently laid Xiao Ling on the bed fearing to wake him up and disturb the rest of the youngster. But he wasn’t gentle enough, Xiao Ling squinted his eyes opened as he stared at Yanzhi with sleepiness.

"Hmm" he moaned softly, Yanzhi felt an itch in heat in his lower abdomen hearing such an ambiguous sound made by the youngster.

"Little wife don’t make trouble and rest honestly" he warned with in a hoarse husky voice.

"Xiang gong- the uneads- did- .." Xiao Ling talked nonsenses in his sleep making YanZhi chuckled finding it cute.

"Rest little wife, i have taken care of your wishes" he whispered to Xiao Ling who closed his eyes and went back to sleep. Yanzhi lowered his head and place a gentle kiss on Xiao Ling’s forehead before getting up from the bed. Reaching the door and his hand on the doorknob, he turned and glanced one last time before twisting the knob and opening the door to outside.

Yue and Liu waited for him outside the door, they saluted seeing him walked out.

"Little wife is still resting, go outside and talk, don’t disturb his rest" he said walking ahead, the two followed behind quietly.

Right outside at the entrance of the house was Chang pacing forth and back while pulling on his hair.

"Master!" he addressed seeing YanZhi walked out of the house with Yue and Liu.

"Master really i didn’t cause any trouble, it was young master Jinhua who requested that i spar with elder Fei and give him some pointers" Chang explained honestly when he wasn’t even asked. He didn’t know whether Yue and Liu informed YanZhi about his spar with old Fei or not. There was a saying ’leniency to those who confess, severity to those who resist’ Chang wanted Yanzhi to be lenient with him so he chose to come out clean and confess.

But he didn’t hear any word from Yanzhi nor did Yanzhi show any emotion or expression of what was in his mind. Yanzhi just made his way towards where old Fei was, whether his attention was on Chang who was dying to explain himself and be pardoned, was unknown.

Chang followed behind looking pitiful like an upset furry animal with it’s ears drooping and aggrieved. "Master... i really, really didn’t cause any trouble" Chang said again emphasizing, his voice cracked and he looked about to cry.

"Pfft" Yue and Liu couldn’t contain their laughter seeing Chang looking like he was about to cry any minute now, pitiful with teary eyes.
