Dressed in white robes and black short sleeves coat, the hems and the standing collar of the coat made with red threads and at the waist coat was stripes of black and gold, black knee length boots and at the top end of the boots was a golden stripe, with his smooth long black hair tied in a ponytail with no crown was Lixin. And on his side was Xile dressed in plain black but exquisite beautiful robes with black knee length boots, his hair also tied in a ponytail without any crown. They had come down TianXin mountain and were sent to pick up master Zhang and his disciples. Walking on the road of village they met a lot of the village families who greeted them with pretentious and envious looks, Xile and Lixin would nod to them but wouldn’t waste time into their small talks.
Such luke warm attitude from the two made the people who already were jealous and envious of them became even more green-eyed.
"Lixin, I almost couldn’t recognized you!"
a young man similar aged to Lixin suddenly blocked their path from nowhere. His face brightened by smile, from one look Lixin and Xile were able to tell it was pretentious. Embarking on the road of cultivation enabled them to be able to see the world in a broad perspective way.
" Changle"
Lixin called out, his expression alienated. He gave a slight nod to Changle with no intention of striking a conversation where they’ll reminisce about the past, they had no such relationship.
"We’re on an errand for Sect Master, I’m unable to accompany you."
He turn from Changle and walked past him without sparing him a last glance, Xile nodded to Changle with a smile and followed him.
"Hmp! What’s so great about you! Just because you’re lucky enough to start practicing martial arts, you think you’re better than others. Once the recruiting of students begins I’ll also be admitted, just wait and see how I’ll surpass you all!"
Changle snorted coldly with a vicious look, his voice louder enough for Lixin to hear, but Lixin continued on ahead as if Changle’s words never fell onto his ear.
"What Changle said is right! We can also become like that!"
"What are you fussing about, isn’t it that the Jun family, as early as first light were already up and busy. I heard from our neighbors that last night Yanzhi....no, no, master Yan went to visit his parents and gave them 100 taels of silvers and also told his younger brothers to participate in the selection of students of his school. After he left the Jun family house he visited the village head, I think it’s because he went to inform the village head about having the youths also participate!" an aunty said with gusto believing that what the was saying must be right.
The villagers like to gossip a lot to the point where their assumptions sometimes turns out to be right. But without knowing the standpoint their enthusiasm wasn’t very high.
"What are you guessing for, if that is the case the village head will soon call for every household for a meeting, we will know at that time."
Their moments of gossiping and guessing had no effect on the two, walking to the door of the house Lixin pushed the door open and went in, he stood aside and said to Xile who came with him. "Xile come in."
Xile nodded and took a step into the house and watched Lixin pushed the door back closed. "It looks like they haven’t awoken yet." Xile commented looking at the empty courtyard.
"No. My family always wakes up as early as the first light."
He walked to the center of the courtyard with Xile following closely. "Mother! Father! Lixin is here to see you!" he yelled. "Xinyan!" he called out.
Running out of the house in a hurry a small figure threw herself into his hand and he quickly caught her in a heartbeat. "Father!" she cried out.
"Mengmeng! Why are you awake at this time, don’t you always wake up a little later than now?" he asked surprised as he caressed her little cheeks.
Walking out of the house to the courtyard in hurried steps to meet her husband, Li Xinyan who came with gusto to throw herself into his arms stopped momentarily in time spotting Xile behind him.
"Husband...." her eyes hot as she looked at him "you’re here." she said in a whisper.
Raising his head up he carried his daughter in his arms and walked to her, taking her hand into his he said softly. "En.... I’m here." Feeling as if the world had stopped for the both of them and as if it was just the two of the in the whole world they smiled sweetly as they stared into each other’s eyes.
Xile stood there not wanting to ruin the harmonious atmosphere for the two after reuniting. Unfortunately he wasn’t the only one there and some people weren’t as patient and understanding as him.
"Erhm-erhm!" the village head cleared his throat after watching them for a while and seeing them having no intention of breaking away.
With the intentionally or unintentionally sound being made, how could the couple continue with their alone moment. Li Xinyan quickly took back her hand in embarrassment.
"Father!" Lixin called out.
"Since you’re here what are you still standing here in the courtyard and not inviting your guest in." uncle Lu complained before turning to Xile with a warm smile. Lixin coughed in embarrassment remembering that he was not alone.
"Brother Xile sorry to keep you waiting, please let’s go into the house."
"Hahaha, brother Lixin I don’t mind. You’ve been busy and don’t have time for your family and wife, it’s understanding that they’d miss you." Xile said teasingly making Xinyan more embarrassed.
"Hahahaha, what little brother Xile says is true. Come in first and talk." uncle Lu invited politely. With the identity of a martial artist even if Xile was bought as a servant, but learning from his children that Xile was treated the same way as them, how could he be disrespectful to him.
"I would love to chat, but it’s unfortunate that I can’t do that right now. Sect master sent us to bring master Zhang and his compatriorts, so we’re here for them." Xile declined politely remembering their purpose of coming and explained.
"Oh! So you’re here for master Zhang, then I won’t delay you both. Lixin, master Zhang is now living in your younger brother’s room, you go and get him." he quickly urged Lixin.
.....
"Master Zhang!"
"Master Zhang!"
"Master Zhang!"
The villagers saluted respectfully everytime they passed by them walking. In front was Lixin leading the way for master Zhang, Cheng Lin and Yu. And behind was Xile following closely. Master Zhang will nod or hum absent mindedly whenever a villager greeted. The look on his face one could tell that he wanted to strike conversations with the juniors leading him, but unfortunately the juniors look so stoic and seemed to have no intention of answering to any of his questions whenever it involves their school and sect master. This made master Zhang more envious of Yanzhi for having such students who don’t go out and talk about things regarding their school which shouldn’t be talked about to outsiders. Whereas his students...Haiz~.
Getting closer to the mountain they saw a carriage standing at the door of the old house and a woman standing outside the carriage looking around. They continued on leisurely and were in no hurry, slowly reaching to the carriage master Zhang looked at the enormous frame and hanging on it was a dark plaque with ’TianXin Mountain’ written in white on it. After glancing at it for a moment master Zhang took back his gaze hearing Lixin say.
"Please follow me closely and don’t loose sight of me, once lost in the mountain the consequence is immeasurable." he warned seriously in a polite tone.
Master Zhang and his compatriorts only thought he was making a fuss.
"This young master..."
A voice called out anxiously, it was the woman standing beside the carriage seeing them going up, she approached then in hurried steps.
"Go ahead, I’ll see to it."
"En!" Lixin nodded without looking after hearing Xile say.
"This aunty....how may I help you?" Xile asked with a friendly smile.
"Do you live up there? Master Yan..."
"Oh, yes! I’m a servant of the Grand Elder." Xile replied.
As if finally finding a savior after searching for long she breathed heavily in relief.
"It’s like this, I’m a servant of the county magistrate and my madam is here to see master Yan." she quickly explained the reason for stopping him.
"You mean madam Huang?"
"Yes!" she nodded heavily and quickly led him to the carriage. She knocked lightly and the curtains was raised revealing madam Huang’s confident face.
"Madam Huang." Xile saluted respectfully.
"You’re..?"
"A servant of mistress Lin."
"En. My husband and I requests audience with your masters, please inform them for me."
Madam Huang said in a gentle tone.
"Please wait here first, I’ll ask master and come back."
"En!"
