Little Princess tied up her long hair with a rubber band, fetched her clothes from the room, and trotted off to the bathroom.

When she came out of the bathroom after showering, her little face was flushed from the warmth, her large eyes were foggy, making her look even more charming and lovely.

Gu Tingyun cast a glance, darkening his eyes. He walked into the bathroom, picked up the clothes that Guibao had changed out of, and started to wash them sitting on the stool by the sink.

Helian Qiao sat beside him on the clean stone roller, playing in the water with her delicate, fair feet, blissfully comfortable amid the summer heat.

When Gu Tingyun wasn’t paying attention, she abruptly raised her foot and splashed water on his face.

"Little rascal."

Gu Tingyun caught her foot and tickled the sole lightly.

The ticklish Little Princess burst out laughing and begged for mercy: "Hahahaha, I’m sorry, I won’t ambush you again!"

However, it didn’t take long for her mischievous intent to rekindle. She silently ambushed him and then ran away barefoot, turning back to pull a face of triumph at him.

Gu Tingyun smiled, wiped off the water on his face, and continued washing the clothes.

After washing Guibao’s clothes, he wrung them out and hung them on the clothesline in the yard.

It was then that Lu Xiaofen hurriedly cycled into the yard, looking anxious.

Seeing Gu Tingyun there, she let out a sigh of relief: "Tingyun, you’re here. Thank God!"

Then, looking at Guibao, she apologized: "Guibao, I’m sorry. Mom lost track of time while reading at the library. It won’t happen again!"

She had been engrossed in her book at the school library, and by the time she realised the time, it was past ten. She quickly packed her things and rushed home.

Feeling guilty, she had promised Jianjun to take good care of Guibao.

If it weren’t for Gu Tingyun’s presence, Guibao would have been left home alone!

Little Princess dismissed her concern nonchalantly: "It’s fine, I’m not scared to be at home by myself."

"Auntie Lu, I’m going to head off now. There’s still hot water in the pot if you need it," Gu Tingyun said politely.

Lu Xiaofen checked the time and persuaded, "Tingyun, it’s almost eleven. I wouldn’t feel comfortable letting you ride your bike back this late. Why don’t you spend the night here?"

Upon hearing this, Helian Qiao also chimed in: "Yeah!"

"Alright," Gu Tingyun agreed promptly.

Despite not having brought any toiletries or change of clothes with him, he could tolerate the inconvenience for Guibao’s sake.

More importantly, he was not comfortable leaving Guibao alone with Helian Qiao.

Sometime later, the Gu family’s sedan pulled up to their house.

The car parked at the entrance, illuminating the entire alley with its headlights.

The driver got out and called from the yard: "Tingyun, I’m here to pick you up."

Upon hearing this, Helian Qiao crisply said, "Driver Uncle, Gu Tingyun is staying here for the night. He’s not going back!"

Gu Tingyun nodded, speaking softly: "Please let my grandfather know that I won’t be going home tonight."

"Sure!"

Not seeming surprised, the driver retrieved a bag of clothes and toiletries from the car, handing it to Gu Tingyun with a smile. "Old Sir guessed that you might stay here, so he told me to bring these along."

"Thank you, Driver Uncle." Gu Tingyun took the bag gratefully, expressing his thanks softly.

"No problem. I’ll be on my way then!"

Once the driver had delivered the items, he promptly returned to his car and drove away.

By now, it was getting late. Lu Xiaofen urged, "Tingyun, you should go ahead and use the hot water in the pot to take a shower. Try to get some rest early since you still have to go to school tomorrow!"
