Transmigrating as an Extra, But the Heroine Has Regressed?! -
Chapter 77: "What happened here?"
Chapter 77: "What happened here?"
"It was a man... no, not a man. A monster. He smashed through the academy’s outer gate like it was paper and came straight toward the training field. He was laughing the whole time—like he enjoyed it... like he came just to kill everyone here!"
Another student, his uniform torn and dirt-streaked, quickly added, "It was an assassin. He was fast—too fast. Like lightning. We tried to stop him, but none of us stood a chance. He was too strong..."
He paused, swallowing hard, then looked at the center of the ruined field.
"But then Edwin, Elysia, and Jin stepped in. They fought him. All three of them. They held him off."
The crowd of professors, still standing in silence, slowly turned their eyes toward the trio in question.
Edwin stood with his sword still in hand, blood seeping from the wound on his side. His clothes were ripped, his face bruised, but his eyes burned with quiet resolve.
Elysia remained on one knee, using her swords for support. Her silver hair was tangled and damp with sweat, and her body shook slightly from exhaustion. Yet she didn’t look away.
Jin stood just behind them, his fists clenched, his stance steady. Dust covered him from head to toe, but he didn’t seem to care. He stood firm, like a shield behind his friends.
The three of them looked like they had just stepped out of a warzone—bloodied, beaten, but unbroken.
Principal Aldric stepped forward slightly, his gaze sharp and focused. His piercing eyes narrowed as he studied them, taking in every injury, every sign of the battle they had fought.
But the look in his eyes spoke volumes.
"Is it true?" he asked, his voice calm yet firm. "An assassin attacked Arcadia? Here?"
Jin gave a short nod, coughing through the smoke. "He wasn’t ordinary. He had a skill... madness. He kept repeating the words ’kill, kill, kill’—like something had taken over him."
Elysia wiped blood from her cheek. "We managed to land serious blows... he should’ve been down. But then... he got up again. Like nothing mattered. He laughed and just ran off."
"Ran off?" The professor repeated. "You mean to say he’s still alive?"
"Yes," Edwin replied bitterly. "And he said he’d return."
There was a pause. A cold silence, heavy with fear and disbelief.
While they were talking, Cecelia stepped on the ground.
All the grounds were filled with dust.
"Wait—what happened?!" came a sharp, breathless voice from the crowd.
It was Cecelia.
She pushed her way forward. Her face was pale, a mix of confusion and panic. The moment she stepped into view of the ruined field, she froze.
Edwin stood clutching his bleeding arm, his sword still drawn and stained. Elysia leaned against her swords for balance, her face scratched, one cheek bruised.
The entire training field was in ruins. Stones cracked. Trees broken. Scorch marks everywhere. Smoke curled from deep craters that still sizzled faintly. It looked like a battlefield—not an academy.
Cecelia’s lips parted, but no words came at first. Her eyes widened in disbelief. She turned to the nearest student, grabbing their sleeve.
"No..." she whispered, her voice trembling. "What happened here? What is this?"
The student looked down, shaken. "It was horrible..."
"Who did this?" Cecelia asked, louder this time, her voice cracking with emotion.
Jin raised his head and forced a weak smile. "A madman," he said bitterly. "And he almost succeeded."
Without thinking, Cecelia ran to Elysia’s side and gently grabbed her arm. Her fingers gripped tightly, panic and worry written all over her face.
"Elysia—you’re hurt!" she said, eyes full of concern. "Are you okay? What did he do to you?"
"I will kill him no matter who he is".
"We have professors here, Cecelia, they can handle it now."
Cecelia blushed.
"He was strong... too strong. And something wasn’t right about him," she said quietly. "His power—his aura—changed during the fight. I’ve never seen anything like it. He used some kind of skill that... it twisted him."
"I sensed it too," Edwin added from nearby, his voice grim. "It wasn’t magic. It wasn’t normal. It felt dark... like a corrupted blessing. That man didn’t care about anything. He fought because he wanted to. He looked like he enjoyed the chaos."
For a moment, no one spoke. The weight of Edwin’s words settled over everyone like a storm cloud.
Then, Principal Aldric finally stepped forward. His expression, which had been hard to read until now, turned dark with concern. He closed his eyes slowly, taking in a deep breath as if weighing everything in his mind.
When he opened them again, his gaze was sharp and full of quiet fury.
"You three," he said, his voice low but firm, "for students like you... I feel proud and honored.
Your courage today may have saved dozens of lives."
Edwin, Elysia, and Jin looked up at him in surprise.
"But as the principal of Arcadia... I have failed to protect you. I have failed to protect this academy." His eyes scanned the ruined field. "I will not allow this to happen again. Starting tomorrow, our defenses will be tightened. Patrols increased. Wards reinforced. We will not let our guard down again."
He lowered his head slightly, a rare moment of humility from a man known for his strength.
"For what happened today... I am truly sorry."
There was a long pause, the wind rustling through the broken trees and shattered stone.
Principal Aldric raised his hand, his voice calm. "Everyone, listen carefully. Return to your dormitories at once. No one is allowed to leave the inner academy grounds until further notice. This is an emergency lockdown."
Gasps and murmurs spread among the students, but they obeyed quickly. The danger was still fresh in everyone’s minds. Some were still trembling, and others were helping the injured walk.
Aldric continued, his tone leaving no room for argument. "I want two full squads of guards posted at every entrance and exit. No one gets in or out without my permission."
Then he turned toward one of the professors. "Yulia," he said with urgency, "increased the strength of the academy’s barrier spells. I want double the defensive and enchantments active immediately."
