Chapter 355: Chapter 195 Gifts

The school leaders all took Fu Siyu’s words as mere politeness and didn’t take them seriously.

After all, who could have imagined that the two most watched individuals at tonight’s school anniversary celebration, seen by everyone as the least likely couple, would actually be husband and wife?

After bidding farewell to the school authorities, Fu Siyu walked alone toward the back gate.

Just as he was about to exit the school gates, he could see the car where Shu Wan was sitting, but then Fu Siyu was stopped by someone.

"Mr. Fu, hello, I’m a junior from your department. My name is Lin Yi, and I’ve always admired you. I’m really pleased to see you at Imperial University today."

The night air of November in Imperial City was so cold it felt like it could drip ice, yet the girl in front of him wore a white long dress, so thin it seemed a gust of wind could blow her away.

The girl wore only light makeup, her black hair draped over her shoulders, but a young girl in the bloom of youth needed no embellishment to possess the most heart-stirring beauty.

A cold wind blew, and the girl shivered, her lips turning white, making her look all the more pitiable.

Her eyes glistened with scattered tears, and her voice trembled as she spoke, "Mr. Fu, I really admire you. May I add you as a contact? If there’s anything I don’t understand later on—achoo!"

"Aren’t you cold?"

Fu Siyu suddenly spoke up.

Lin Yi’s eyes flickered with surprise; she knew that the weaker she appeared, the more she could arouse a strong person’s protective instincts.

"It is a bit cold, but when I heard Mr. Fu had come to the school, I got so excited I forgot everything else."

Lin Yi looked at Fu Siyu with excitement and eagerness, and her statement wasn’t false at all.

She had heard Fu Siyu’s legendary stories countless times, and just the snippets from various news reports filled her with longing for this strong and mysterious man.

Seeing him in person now, she felt it was worth braving the cold.

No matter how much the news reports said, it couldn’t compare to seeing Fu Siyu in person just once.

Fu Siyu glanced at her, pulled out his wallet, took out some money, and pointed to a nearby shop, "Don’t misunderstand; I’m asking you to buy some warm clothes simply out of concern as a senior. Now, I need to go find my wife. Could you please step aside?"

Fu Siyu stood there, noble and dignified, elegant and graceful, even the act of handing over money was done with such impeccable grace that one could find no fault in it.

He looked at her coolly, conveying in absolute terms that he saw through all her schemes, and that those schemes meant nothing to him.

If Fu Siyu had bluntly told her to leave, it might not have hurt as much, but Fu Siyu was excessively polite.

His care for her was just as it would be for any stranger.

Being gentlemanly to strangers, and the same to her, he was clearly telling her that no matter how much effort she exerted, she wouldn’t cause the slightest ripple in his eyes.

Although Fu Siyu had done nothing, Lin Yi felt a deep sense of shame. On this zero-degree night, her cheeks flushed red.

With downcast eyes, she apologized, "I’m sorry, Mr. Fu, I disturbed you."

After speaking, Lin Yi ran off without taking the money Fu Siyu had offered her.

After running a short distance, Lin Yi couldn’t help looking back, and then she saw Fu Siyu bending down to pick flowers by the roadside.

In light of what Fu Siyu had just said, Lin Yi knew those flowers must surely be for his wife.

Lin Yi’s curiosity about Fu Siyu’s wife suddenly became boundless, she really wanted to know what kind of woman could share her life with a man as polished and lofty as Fu Siyu.

For some reason, the image of Shu Wan unexpectedly appeared in Lin Yi’s mind; she had watched Shu Wan perform on stage earlier, while Lin Yi was in the audience.

Tonight, two people completely dazzled her, one was Shu Wan, the other Fu Siyu.

Lin Yi simply couldn’t imagine what kind of woman would be a match for Fu Siyu. The only person she could visualize was Shu Wan.

However, it was utterly impossible for Shu Wan to become Fu Siyu’s wife.

At this moment in the car, Shu Wan was resting with her eyes closed.

Suddenly, the fresh fragrance of flowers wafted to her nose, mixed with a cool breeze scented with sandalwood. Shu Wan knew it was Fu Siyu who had arrived.

She opened her eyes, and her gaze fell upon Fu Siyu’s suit, which twinkled with a few stars.

Perhaps to match the festive spirit of the anniversary celebration, Fu Siyu had uncharacteristically chosen a rather bold suit.

Overall, the color was a subdued matte blue, but sprinkled upon the fabric were specks of golden glow, making him look both noble and a tad nonchalant.

Fu Siyu had long noticed that every time he dressed a bit handsomely, Shu Wan would take an extra glance or two.

A smile in his eyes, Fu Siyu handed the flowers to Shu Wan, "You performed very well."

"I saw you."

Before Shu Wan went on stage, Fu Siyu had already taken his seat in the front row.

During her performance, Fu Siyu was there all the while; every time Shu Wan looked toward the audience, she could see Fu Siyu nodding at her gently.

The bouquet Fu Siyu brought for Shu Wan was a large bunch of red roses, much smaller than Su Zhou’s, but the wrapping was plain and elegant, just the style Shu Wan favored.

The flowers were not as fresh and plump as those Su Zhou had given her, but they were also carefully selected fresh flowers, adorned with droplets of water like gleaming crystals, exquisitely beautiful.

Fu Siyu could have bought a big bouquet like the one Su Zhou gave, but by choosing this one, he made Shu Wan feel he had put more thought into it.

"Thank you."

Shu Wan nodded slightly to Fu Siyu.

"That might be a bit premature to thank me."

As he spoke, Fu Siyu took out a small box from his pocket and handed it to Shu Wan. Inside was a dazzling necklace.

It was a necklace adorned with various colored gemstones which, despite their multitude, were combined in exceptionally harmonious fashion, with an elegant design that didn’t come off as tacky.

Shu Wan really liked it, "I really like it, thank you. Actually, I liked the flowers too."

"The flowers were incidental," Fu Siyu said with a smile in his eyes. "Though I know you don’t care about such things, in my view, it’s necessary to have precious gifts alongside the thought to show true appreciation."

In the world of adults, it doesn’t exist where just a thought can suffice without material things; material and thought are coexistent.

The flower represents the thought, the precious necklace signifies the material, but it is also a token of Fu Siyu’s sentiment.

And when these two sentiments combine, how can they not warm the heart of the one receiving the gift?

"Do you want to try it on?" Fu Siyu asked, looking at the necklace in Shu Wan’s hand. "I can help you put it on."

"Sure."

Shu Wan handed the box to Fu Siyu, and as usual, when a servant would help her put on a necklace, they would stand behind her and fasten it.

However, this time, Fu Siyu sat in front of Shu Wan and, in an embracing posture, helped Shu Wan put on the necklace.
