Transmigrated as the fake young master, I'll beat up the scumbags and b*tches -
Vol. 1 - Ch. 348 - Prison Break
"I heard you've been getting special treatment in prison."
The man lifted his head and looked at Han ShuYi. He was half-convinced by Han ShuYi’s words, yet still harbored a trace of doubt. But deep down, he didn’t believe Han ShuYi would lie about something like this.
After all, the fact that he could name Gu ZhaoChuan so precisely meant he'd done his homework.
As for the one behind it all—HuMing, as Han ShuYi claimed—was a very convincing answer.
HuMing actually knew Gu ZhaoChuan's identity? Did that mean HuMing had already uncovered the truth… and everything else that came with it?
The man thought about stalling for time. Right now, informing Gu ZhaoChuan was probably the safest move.
But Han ShuYi had no intention of giving him that chance.
"Don’t bother doubting me. My patience has its limits too. Whether it's Gu ZhaoChuan or HuMing, in the end, you’re all just trying to use me. I'm giving you this opportunity only because I'm in a good mood. After all, those two count as my enemies."
Han ShuYi shrugged, looking indifferent.
But the man narrowed his eyes—he clearly didn’t agree.
"What makes you think we need your help? To us, you’re nothing more than a failed pawn."
"Wow, you sure sound confident. If you weren’t standing right here in front of me, I might’ve believed you. But the fact that you're here? It means Gu ZhaoChuan needs someone to help cover his tracks. And me—someone who has a score to settle with HuMing—well, I just happen to be the perfect choice, don’t I?"
The man stared at Han ShuYi, visibly shaken.
Because Gu ZhaoChuan had said the exact same thing to him.
He knew Gu ZhaoChuan had someone powerful behind him. This time, the plan was to shove all the blame onto Han ShuYi, wring him dry of every last ounce of value, and then link his identity to that big shot behind the scenes. That way, Gu ZhaoChuan could cleanly wash his hands of the mess, and take HuMing down in the process.
It was a reasonable, well-crafted plan.
After all, who would’ve guessed that it was all Gu ZhaoChuan’s scheme from the start? But now that Han ShuYi had laid the plan out in full, the man realized—there was no point in hiding anymore. It’d be better to convince Han ShuYi directly, and pull him into their camp.
"Han ShuYi, looks like you’ve already made up your mind. Then join us. Don’t forget who it was that put you in this place to begin with. Even if Gu ZhaoChuan wants to use you, he only wants to use you to get rid of HuMing. In the end, your goals are the same."
Han ShuYi fell silent, while the man returned to sit on his bed, waiting for his answer.
HuMing’s words echoed in Han ShuYi’s mind. He could never forget the truth HuMing had revealed to him.
Even if he managed to leave this godforsaken place, he had nowhere to go.
He wasn’t truly part of the Han family. He didn’t even know if that couple were really his biological parents.
Right now, his entire existence felt like a blur—like he was just drifting.
"Oh, and one more thing." The man leaned forward slightly, deliberately revealing something. "HuMing's in the countryside right now. If you want to deal with him, this is the perfect opportunity."
Han ShuYi frowned. "What’s he doing in the countryside?"
"Seems like he’s accompanying your sister out there. Trust me—if you take your sister hostage, use her to threaten HuMing, he’ll surrender without a fight."
"You do know she’s my sister, right? You think I’d actually do that?" Han ShuYi’s eyes turned cold, his stare unfriendly.
The man laughed lightly.
"Still clinging to the Han family, are you? Look at the state you’re in. Isn’t it because they helped HuMing? If it weren’t for them, you wouldn’t be here. So forget about them. They never treated you like one of their own—why keep begging for scraps?"
Han ShuYi slowly raised his head. He thought back to his days in the Han household. Thought of Madam Han, who had been the kindest to him. And thought of that couple…
[If he can’t finish school, then let him go out and work. We don’t have money to waste on him. He can send the money back, and we’ll use it to build a new house.]
[If life’s ever too hard, you must tell Mom, okay?]
Two voices, completely different in tone, echoed in Han ShuYi’s mind.
He stared at the man for a while, then finally spoke:
"I’ll agree to your terms. But Han YunXi—you leave her to me."
Seeing Han ShuYi give in, the man’s expression finally softened.
He couldn’t care less about Han YunXi’s life. All he wanted was for HuMing to be taken out—then dump the blame onto Han ShuYi.
He extended a hand toward Han ShuYi, a smile curling on his lips.
"Then here’s to a successful partnership."
Han ShuYi glanced at him, then turned and lay back down on his bed, turning his back on the man.
The man’s smile stiffened, and a flicker of malice flashed through his eyes—before vanishing just as quickly.
…
HuMing had been staying in the village for several days, yet still hadn’t seen the so-called village chief.
The locals said the chief had gone out to haul goods and wouldn’t be back for a while.
The signal in the village was terrible. Calls rarely went through. HuMing often had to walk far outside the village to get a connection.
"Hm? What did you say? Han ShuYi broke out of prison?"
"Yes. No one knows who helped him. It took the authorities a long time just to trace the direction he fled."
HuMing fell into silence.
There was no way Han ShuYi had the ability to pull off a prison break on his own. If he could do that, he would’ve done it ages ago.
It had to be Gu ZhaoChuan. He was pushing Han ShuYi toward him—trying to make him strike.
HuMing didn’t know if what he said before still had any effect on Gu ZhaoChuan, but it was clear he needed to stay alert.
"Lan Jun, have Second Uncle keep an eye on Gu ZhaoChuan’s movements. And the charity project here—make sure it gets implemented. The signal out here is awful, and I’ve got a bad feeling about it."
"Understood. The bank’s just waiting for you to come pick up the paperwork."
"I’ll deal with that when I get back."
As soon as he said that, the call dropped.
HuMing glanced at his phone signal, then shook his head in resignation.
He turned and headed toward the village school. But he hadn’t gone far before he saw Han YunXi playing with a group of children.
A smile formed on his face. He walked over just in time to hear Han YunXi telling them a story.
It seemed that while he was away in the capital, she’d been visiting the orphanage every week to care for the kids.
It struck him how little he really knew about her.
