Chapter 30: Say Something...

Evelina stared into Damian’s silver eyes, her breath hitching as his words hung in the air.

"If you don’t want this to go any further, you need to say something. Now."

The pull between them was undeniable, a magnetic force fueled by the full moon and the mate bond. Evelina opened her mouth to respond, but the words didn’t come.

Instead, her body betrayed her, leaning into the tension that had been building between them all night.

Damian’s gaze darkened with desire as he took her silence as an answer. His hand moved slowly, brushing against her cheek, his thumb tracing the curve of her jaw. Evelina shivered at his touch, her breath coming faster.

"Eve," he murmured in a low and rough voice, sending a thrill down her spine. "Say something."

But she couldn’t.

Or maybe she didn’t want to.

In the next moment, Damian closed the distance between them, his lips capturing hers in a kiss that was both soft and demanding.

Evelina gasped against his mouth, her hands instinctively clutching his shoulders as the bond between them flared to life. Sparks ignited wherever they touched, an inferno of heat and longing consuming them both.

Damian groaned softly, his hand sliding to the small of her back, pulling her closer. Evelina’s heart raced as she kissed him back, her fingers tangling in his hair.

Every thought of restraint vanished as the fire between them grew, their bodies pressing together under the thin sheets.

Storm growled in Damian’s mind, satisfied. "Finally. She’s ours."

Damian ignored his wolf, too lost in the moment to argue. His hand roamed up her side, brushing against the curve of her waist before trailing to her hip. Evelina gasped again, her body responding to his touch in ways that both thrilled and terrified her.

Relia purred in Evelina’s mind. "I hate to admit it, but he’s good. Really good."

Relia, stop, Evelina thought weakly, though she couldn’t deny her wolf’s words. The heat between them was overwhelming, every touch, every kiss sending her deeper into a haze of desire.

Damian’s lips moved from her mouth to her neck, his breath warm against her skin. Evelina tilted her head, allowing him better access as her hands roamed his chest.

His muscles tensed under her touch, his body reacting to her as strongly as hers was to him.

Damian nipped at her skin, his teeth grazing the sensitive spot at the base of her neck. Evelina whimpered, her nails digging into his shoulders.

With a low growl, he moved on top of her, pinning her down. She gasped as his weight settled between her legs, the hard length of him pressing against her.

Storm was ecstatic.

The bond flared between them, a torrent of emotions and sensations that left them both dizzy. Evelina clung to him, her body moving instinctively, matching his rhythm as he rocked his hips against her.

Her nightgown rode up, exposing the smooth skin of her thigh. Damian growled, his hand sliding down to grip her leg, pulling her closer.

The thin fabric of her panties did little to protect her, and she cried out as he pressed his arousal against her core, the friction sending a jolt of pleasure through her.

He did it again, his breath hot on her neck.

Evelina bit her lip, her hips arching toward him, desperate for more.

Damian obliged, grinding against her as his hands roamed her body, his touch leaving trails of fire in its wake.

But then, a flash of fire burned behind Evelina’s eyes.

The image appeared suddenly: the loud flames that had destroyed her lab, the intense heat, and the sharp smell of smoke. She felt a tightness in her chest as the memory flooded back, feeling very different from the comforting warmth of Damian’s embrace.

"Damian, stop," she said suddenly, in a shaky voice as she pushed him off and pulled away.

He froze immediately, his silver eyes wide with concern. "Eve? What’s wrong?"

"I—I can’t," Evelina stammered, her heart pounding for an entirely different reason now. "We shouldn’t be doing this."

Without waiting for a response, she slipped out of the bed, grabbing the edge of the blanket to cover herself as she headed for the bathroom.

The cool tiles under her feet grounded her slightly as she leaned over the sink, splashing water on her face.

Relia’s voice returned, calmer now but still smug. "You have to admit, the prince is a really good kisser."

"Relia," Evelina muttered aloud, staring at her reflection in the mirror. Her cheeks were flushed, her lips slightly swollen from Damian’s kisses. She looked every bit as shaken as she felt. "Not now."

"Fine," Relia replied, though there was a hint of amusement in her tone. "But you have to admit, it was worth it. Even though we didn’t get fat with it... but it’s fine. For now."

Evelina sighed, shaking her head as she dried her face. When she finally returned to the room, Damian was still sitting on the bed, his posture tense as his gaze followed her every move.

"Are you okay?" he asked softly.

"Yes," Evelina replied, though her tone was quieter than usual. She spotted a book on the table not far from the bed and walked over to pick it up, desperate for something to distract her racing thoughts.

Damian tilted his head, watching her carefully. "Not coming to sleep?"

"I’m not sleepy," she said, flipping through the pages without really reading them.

Damian smirked faintly, leaning back against the headboard. "Does that mean I won our little challenge?"

Evelina glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. "Dream on," she retorted. "I just want to read a bit before sleeping."

He chuckled, his smirk widening. "Take your time. I’ll be here... waiting."

Elsewhere...

In a dark corner of the palace gardens, a cloaked person handed a small vial to a woman dressed in fine silk clothes. Although her face was partly covered by a veil, her bright, sharp eyes stood out in the moonlight.

"This will do what you promised?" she asked in a low, calculated voice.

The figure nodded, his features hidden beneath a hood. "One drop, that’s all you need. He’ll be more... susceptible to influence."

The woman’s lips curved into a cold smile as she tucked the vial into her sleeve. "Good. He won’t know what hit him."

The figure hesitated. "Be careful. If used improperly, the effects could be... catastrophic."

"I know what I’m doing," the woman snapped impatiently. "Just get out of here before someone sees you."

The figure bowed slightly. "As you wish, milady."
