Chapter 53: Battle within flames
-Oooooooooooooong!
-Boooooooooooooom!
"Miiiiiihahahah!"
A ranged magic bomb woke up the resting goat.
The creature was enraged that there was someone who disturbed her peaceful rest.
There was nothing to do in this barren place, the creature had no idea how it got here itself so the creature simply wanted to rest and rest and rest.
There wasn’t much to do in this place anyway so it always rested, and ate, and rested, and ate and rested.
There wasn’t much entertainment here. The sky here was mostly dark and the sunlight wasn’t as great as the creature was used to.
The creature used to live a much more fun life in the desert before, but then one day it found itself trapped in this place.
It had tried to go away countless times, break through the metallic walls that were situated far away from here, but it could never really do that.
The creature got frustrated and then kept living here, waiting for something to happen... and finally something was happening in this useless place.
-Oooooooooong!
There were people here, humans at that.
"Miiiiiiihehehehe!"
The goat had not had the taste of human flesh for a long, long time. So it got hungry.
The creatures that it could find in this place occasionally were all boring, so this time, the presence of so many humans excited the creatures more than it angered it.
"Formation!"
Zyon led the group after the first attack as soon as he saw the flames rising up around the creature.
It was using its first skill, the walk that produced flames around it.
The flames that were produced were strong as well.
The heat that these flames were producing with each step that the creature took to run up to them put fire to the very ground that it stepped on.
It did not matter whether there was something to fuel these flames or not. The flames stayed there magically, burning naturally just like any fierce fire.
"Scatter!"
The three eyes of the goat were open already— pure white body, those golden horns and the deep golden eyes of the creature made it seem as holy as the beings depicted in the holy scriptures.
However, the flames that were bringing around it, the dark flames that were so hot that all of them in the party could feel the temperature around them rising up constantly, were nothing less than hell’s fire.
"Miiiiiiihuhuhuhu!"
The goat was screaming strangely, using its skill to put psychological debuffs on the players.
The creature was mainly powerful thanks to the flames as well as the way it could use the special energy that it possessed.
When Mana and Blaze’s energy clashed, the strange disconnect could birth frequencies that would put the player’s mind in a strange state.
Amidst these frequencies, if one ended up looking directly into those three eyes, they would fall into a strange state of trance where they would experience fantastical things that would mess with their heads.
’The strangest thing that I’ve seen while being under the effects of that skill is a goat cutting a cake on its 0th birthday, a goat with three heads each possessing three sets of triple eyes... with a giraffe mother, and an ent father... surrounded by headless humans with blood still gushing through the severed part, who actually looked happy...?’
Zyon did not know whether to call that a nightmare or just a strange dream but it certainly messed with his head for a while.
He was constantly thinking of that scene and how the cake was red, how the father wasn’t actually fertile (?), or how there was something very wrong with the goat child.
Just thinking back to that was starting to mess with his head again, so he stopped thinking and went back to the battle.
-Ooooooooooooong!
If they take away the psychological limitations, the creature is still in possession of some powerful flame skills.
Wherever it walked, flames covered the ground. Whenever it felt danger, it would spin its head in a circle and create a ring of fire, a wide-area attack that would most certainly hurt anything and everyone in its area of effect.
"Miiiiiiiihoooooyoooo!"
The screams of the goat were strange enough already, listening to those sounds forced them to look at the creature directly.
If they failed to keep their eyes away from the goat’s eyes, they would risk falling into a state of hallucination.
The goat could also step on air... meaning the thing could literally walk through the air and fly around as if it were some norse goat for travel— something it was not!
-Swiiiiiish!
-Swash! Swash! Swash!
The creature was so powerful that however hard they tried, no attack actually landed on it.
They could not get close to it thanks to the flames so they were using ranged magic and physical attacks but the arrows that they used were burned before they could hit the creature.
And when the magic spells hit the creature, the sturdy hide would block it immediately.
"Miiiiiiikekekeke!"
The goat mocked the players from above, preparing to move on to the next stage where it would start using its actual powers for hunting.
-OOOOOOOOOONG!
The special skill of the three-eyed golden goats {Kom}.
When they were in a higher position and the things below them were small enough, they would use this skill and...
"Awo!"
An ethereal figure just big enough to devour the prey would pop out of the ground and catch a certain limb or section of that target.
"It’s starting! Everyone, Start Stage 2!"
The attacks that they were using weren’t particularly useful against the creature, but there were two that were actually threatening to the creature– the swordsman and the mage at the very back who initiated the battle.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiish!
-Swish!
"Professor!"
-Ooooooooooooooong!
-Swash!
-Boooooooooooooooom...!
One was attacking with a sword covered in Aura, a powerful force that could slice through anything in its path.
The other, on the other hand, was holding a scripture with a crystal-like cover, a catalyst that enhanced the spells that the professor was using– a <Magic Tome>.
The spells that the other magic users were using weren’t strong enough to penetrate the white hide of the goat. The spells that the professor used, on the other hand, were pretty strong.
The two of them threatened the creature, so the creature started using the skill that consumed most of its Mana.
The battle was bound to last long, however, now that it was using that power, Zyon could see hope for real.
’If we keep going like this, things should go well.’
He hoped things would turn out as he wanted...
"Miiiiiiiiiihuhuhuhu~!"
However, hope’s a real bitch sometimes.
