Chapter 26: Ch 26: The Tower’s Notice

---

[Hidden Quest Completed!]

[You have successfully killed the Unexpected Anomaly, Mimic.]

[Mimic - A Tower Monster that’s said to have even fooled the gods with its acting. It invades dead bodies and accepts them as its host, restoring them, healing them, and using their body as they please, acting as if it was their own. Memories, hobbies, voice... they are capable of mimicking everything except powers. Every time they use their host’s powers, they are unable to access them again for a time period of 7 days, rendering them helpless.]

---

Ye Tian stared at the fading remnants of Li Na’s body, which now disintegrated like sand swept by the wind.

Her form, once vibrant and alive, was no more than a pile of dust being carried away into the void.

He said nothing for a long moment, his gaze cold and unyielding.

"So this was the famed Mimic..." he muttered, his tone dripping with disdain.

"Fooled the gods? What a load of bullshit. Since when did Gods become so Idiotic."

Infront of him, the angel let out a soft chuckle.

"What an amusing mortal..." she said, her wings folding gracefully as she descended.

Her radiant form shimmered against the backdrop of the crimson sky.

She hovered above the ground, her feet inches from the earth, her piercing gaze fixed on Ye Tian.

"No hesitation. No second thoughts. You obliterated her the moment you uncovered the truth..."

she continued, her tone carrying a mix of mockery and curiosity.

"Not even the faintest hint of mercy for someone who once held a place in your heart."

Ye Tian turned to face her, his expression emotionless.

"She never held a place in my heart..." he said flatly.

"That thing was an abomination wearing her skin. Nothing more."

"Is that so?" the angel asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Your actions suggest otherwise. That moment of hesitation, that flicker of doubt... it’s quite telling."

"I don’t deal in illusions..." Ye Tian replied, brushing off her words.

"And I have no patience for creatures that play with the dead."

The angel’s smile widened, but her eyes grew colder.

"You’re fascinating..." she said, tilting her head slightly.

"But dangerous. Mortals like you... tend to upset the balance."

She leaned closer, her divine aura flaring around her.

"I shall keep an eye on you..." she whispered, her voice carrying a chilling promise.

"It’s rare to see someone so... unhinged yet so composed. A wolf in sheep’s clothing, walking among the flock."

Before Ye Tian could respond, she disappeared, leaving only the faint shimmer of her aura in the air.

Ye Tian exhaled sharply, his annoyance evident.

"Great..." he muttered.

"Another celestial pain in the ass."

He turned his gaze back to the window, noticing the system text changing once again.

---

[The Tower has noticed your presence.]

---

In an instant, Ye Tian felt an overwhelming weight crush down on him.

It wasn’t physical, but it felt as though his very soul was being shackled.

His knees nearly gave out, and his breath hitched as his vision blurred.

But just as suddenly as it appeared, the weight lifted.

"What the hell was that?" he growled, shaking his head to clear the sensation.

The text on the system screen flickered.

---

[Fetching details of Player - Ye Tian.]

[Process... Failed!]

---

Ye Tian’s brow furrowed as the screen flickered again.

---

[Initiating process once again...]

[Failed!]

---

"Seriously?" he muttered.

"Are they trying to hack me or something?"

The sequence repeated over and over, each attempt yielding the same result...

---

[Failed!]

---

Ye Tian crossed his arms, his irritation mounting.

’What’s the problem here?’ he thought, narrowing his eyes at the system screen.

Finally, the system paused.

---

[Retrying...]

[Process... Success!]

[Sorting details...]

[Creating Status...]

---

The screen finalized itself, displaying his stats:

---

[Status:-]

[Name - Ye Tian]

[Titles - None]

[Age - 19]

[Race - Human]

[Class - None]

[Level - Mortal]

[Equipments - None]

[Skills - None]

---

Ye Tian scanned the screen, his expression unchanging.

"This is... odd..." he muttered, rubbing his chin.

"They’re not measuring my soul. This status is tied to this body... this weak, mortal shell."

He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

’At least that explains the empty stats.’

Before he could think further, a global announcement interrupted his thoughts, the voice reverberating across the entire world.

---

[An Outstanding Achievement has been made!]

[Player Ye Tian has become the first to have killed a Grand Boss Ranked Monster!]

[Player Ye Tian has set a new record and has become the first to kill a boss of such high difficulty in the time of 7 seconds!]

---

In every corner of the world, people froze as system windows appeared before their eyes.

"Ye Tian? Who is he?"

"Someone killed a Grand Boss? Alone?"

"Seven seconds? That’s impossible!"

Among the top-ranked hunters, the announcement sent shockwaves.

Even those who had reached S-rank, the elite few who stood at the pinnacle of human power, sat in stunned silence.

For them, fighting a Grand Boss was a monumental task.

Even with a team of fifty of the strongest hunters, their odds of victory were no better than 25%.

But someone had done it... alone... in seven seconds.

Meanwhile, Ye Tian stared at the screen, his expression blank.

"Probabilities have balanced out..." he muttered.

His name would now serve as both a shield and a curse.

While it might deter some from challenging him outright, it would undoubtedly attract opportunists and enemies seeking to test their strength against him.

"This is going to be a headache..." he sighed, rubbing his temples.

The system updated again...

---

[Player Ye Tian, would you like to receive your rewards?]

---

"Yes," he said, his tone devoid of enthusiasm.

---

[Calculating achievements...]

[Hidden requirements for a special reward have been met!]

[Rewards - Ticket to the Divine Treasury (Mythical Rank) (One-Time Usage)]

---

Ye Tian’s eyes narrowed as he read the details.

"Divine Treasury?" he muttered, his interest piqued.

---

[Upon usage of the ticket, Player Ye Tian will be teleported to the Divine Treasury of the Tower, where he can choose one item and become its master.]

---

"Hoh..." he murmured, a faint smirk forming.

"This might be worth my time after all."

But before he could dwell on the reward, a new notification appeared.

---

[The Tower is watching you.]

---

His smirk faded as he felt an oppressive presence bearing down on him.

It was subtle but undeniable, like countless unseen eyes scrutinizing his every move.

"This is getting old..." he muttered, his voice laced with annoyance.

Still, a small part of him couldn’t shake the feeling of foreboding.

The Tower’s attention was not something to take lightly.
