Time Travel: Pampered by the Aloof Prince
Chapter 139: Why Must Sister Pretend?

Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Why Must Sister Pretend?

Li Mingjue turned into a puddle of goo with her tender and soft call of "husband," his ears blushing so much they might bleed.

Fortunately, the darkness hid all this; otherwise, he feared he wouldn’t dare to look Qi Yu in the eye.

Qi Yu naturally had no idea that a single "husband" could make him so bashful. Seeing him not react for a while, she worried she hadn’t coaxed him well enough.

But her methods of coaxing someone were really quite limited—this was almost the entirety of her life’s secret techniques.

However, Li Mingjue truly wasn’t angry anymore, carrying her on his back in the direction of the bedroom.

Qi Yu, seeing that she was not left behind, quietly reassured herself, knowing he would no longer be angry with her.

He was so easy to placate.

She snickered to herself, feeling that her own Prince was still a bit naïve.

Who else would be bought over by a single word "husband?"

When they got back to their room, it was already quite late.

Qi Yu called for the maid to help her with a quick wash-up, then crawled into the cozy bed.

As she drifted into sleepiness, she heard the person next to her lean in and whisper in her ear, "Say ’husband’ again."

Qi Yu turned over and refused righteously, "That’s my secret weapon. I can’t use it every day!"

Li Mingjue saw her resolute attitude and gave up.

He felt a twinge of regret, thinking he should’ve stayed angry a bit longer just before.

The next day, Qi Yu went to Yongchun Hall early in the morning with Song Ling and a few others.

When Manager Qian saw her, he repeated his earlier advice. Qi Yu pretended it was the first time hearing it, nodded her head, and smiled, "That’s indeed a good idea."

Getting approval for his idea naturally delighted Manager Qian.

Qi Yu left the search for little medicine boys to him, and he promptly agreed to manage it.

Kong Ran was all ears on the side, eavesdropping on every word, albeit not fully understanding, and asked, "What’s a little medicine boy?"

Qi Yu pinched his chubby little face and said, "Someone like you."

Kong Ran took it seriously, jumping around excitedly before happily running off to help Liao Fan with the medicines.

He had been in the capital for quite some time, but he only frequented a few places each day.

Feeling a bit sorry for him, Qi Yu decided to take him out for a tour of the capital after closing up shop.

Liao Fan and Song Ling accompanied them as they visited the busiest places in the capital, buying quite a lot of things.

After walking around for two hours, Qi Yu was too tired to walk, but Kong Ran was still pulling on her hand eagerly, ready to dash forward.

Qi Yu turned back and gave Liao Fan a look for help. Understanding, he came forward and took the rambunctious little junior brother.

The group found a restaurant and sent word back to the Prince Residence that they would dine out that evening.

This was currently the largest restaurant in the capital. Not only was it expensive, but the taste was also just mediocre.

After tasting a few bites, Qi Yu put down her chopsticks.

Ever since Zuichun Building had closed down, she couldn’t even find a decent place to eat.

Seeing her dispirited look, Song Ling guessed she was probably tired from the afternoon’s stroll and had some of the greasier dishes replaced with refreshing and tasty cold dishes.

Liao Fan and Kong Ran, being monks, didn’t touch meat and only ate a few vegetarian dishes.

So, the meal wasn’t particularly enjoyable.

It also cost quite a bit of silver when it came time to settle the bill, deepening Qi Yu’s gloom.

Businesses indeed are cunning; the restaurant looked grand but left much to be desired in taste.

The dishes were outdated, and the ingredients were not fresh enough.

But then she thought, if such a restaurant could survive in the capital, perhaps she could also start a business?

With that thought, her eyes brightened as she felt she’d soon become a wealthy woman.

Seeing her shift from her previous listless state, Song Ling, unaware of the reason, asked, "What is the Princess thinking about?"

Qi Yu shared a few of her ideas, her eyes gleaming as she looked at him.

Song Ling couldn’t withstand that gaze and quickly shifted his eyes away, saying softly with a smile, "The Princess’s idea is good, it should be feasible."

Hearing him say this, Qi Yu felt even more proud, humming a tune happily as she returned to the Prince Residence.

As soon as she entered, Li Bai came forward to greet her, "Princess, Miss Qi has arrived."

Qi Yu’s brow furrowed immediately, "Why has she come so late?"

It was nearly evening; what was Qi Anran doing at the Prince Residence?

Li Bai also felt it was strange and quickly said, "She has been here since just past noon and has been waiting until now."

He was somewhat irritated by this matter.

When Qi Anran arrived, he had already indicated that the Princess was not present; ordinary people would naturally return to their own residences.

But Qi Anran refused to leave. Ignoring everyone’s persuasion, she entered the Prince Qiu Residence with her maids and even brazenly demanded that someone call Qi Yu back.

With such an attitude, anyone unaware of the situation would think she was the Princess.

Li Bai, of course, did not entertain her request, but since she had entered, he couldn’t just throw her out.

The people of the Prince Qiu Residence could only pretend not to see that such a person was there, busying themselves with their own work and not even offering her a cup of tea.

Qi Anran, though frustrated, continued to sit there.

Little did she know, this wait would last until now.

After listening, Qi Yu slightly raised her eyebrows, it seemed Qi Anran was still thinking about that time she was drugged.

However, she must have quite a patience, to have waited for her in the Prince Residence for half the day.

"Alright, I understand." Qi Yu went back to her room to change before she moved to the front hall.

Seeing Qi Anran with a face as dark as iron, Qi Yu felt a wave of satisfaction.

No sooner had she taken a seat than a maid came forward with tea.

Qi Yu opened and sniffed it, then said, "Bring me a cup of Biluochun Tea instead."

"Yes, Princess." The maid replied and swiftly took away the teacup to prepare a fresh one.

In the ensuing delay, Qi Anran was left hanging for quite a while.

Seeing Qi Yu acting so recklessly within the residence, her heart grew even more indignant.

Why was it that she, as the Princess, could have such a smooth-sailing time, while she was faced with enemies on all sides, still merely an unmarried maiden?

But now, everyone knew the emperor disfavored the Prince, and Qi Wei would repeatedly caution after court sessions not to get involved with Prince An Residence.

Although she didn’t understand the full implications, Qi Anran knew that the Prince’s influence was waning, and the marriage arrangement was likely to fall through.

Yet, it was a marriage bestowed by the emperor himself, and she couldn’t back out even if she wanted to.

These days, she couldn’t come up with a good solution at home despite being anxious and frustrated, so she could do nothing but drag it out.

Seeing her complexion turn from white to red, resembling a color palette, Qi Yu’s eyes showed a hint of mockery.

After sipping her tea, Qi Yu spoke in a tone that was neither cold nor warm, "I wonder why my sister has come to see me today, what is the matter?"

Qi Anran’s eyes looked at the tea cup next to her with a dark intensity, her face showing a smile as she spoke softly, "It isn’t anything serious, I just haven’t seen my sister for a while and missed you, that’s all."

Qi Yu’s heart lurched, completely disgusted by her words.

She smiled faintly, responding without a hint of hospitality, "Sister, there’s no need for pretense."

Qi Anran’s face stiffened for a moment, then returned to normal, still forcing a smile as she spoke, "What are you talking about, sister? I have come today with a fine gift for you."
