Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Does the Princess of Qi have any enemies?

After returning to the Prince Residence, Qi Yu intended to rest for a few days, but Manager Qian sent Song Ling to relay a message, saying that during the two days she was absent, the threshold of Yongchun Hall was nearly worn down by the constant stream of visitors.

He and Song Ling, neither of whom were medically trained, could still prescribe some medicine for common symptoms like cold and flu under her influence, but they were utterly overwhelmed by even slightly more complex illnesses.

The people queuing up refused to leave when they realized she wasn’t there, no matter what was said.

Only after much persuasion from Manager Qian were they reluctantly sent away.

Qi Yu had only gone up the mountain for two days, but as Manager Qian felt he was out of his depth, he closed the hall for a day.

But the crowd waiting outside Yongchun Hall’s doors only grew larger, composed of those who could not receive treatment as well as those who had sought remedies elsewhere to no avail; all of them were eagerly anticipating the opening of the hall.

Left with no choice, Qi Yu had to get up early from bed, and after having breakfast, she planned to sneak out through the back door.

But now, there were two more people in the residence.

After some thought, she decided to bring them along.

Liao Fan had been reciting scriptures and praying in his room for a full day and night; Qi Yu could not bear to watch any longer and dragged him out by force.

It was better for him to have something to do.

Otherwise, immersing himself in such sorrow day after day could make a person increasingly despondent.

As for Kong Ran, he was like a bird freed from its cage.

Having stayed in Yunhe Temple for so long, he was thrilled to get a chance to step out and see the outside world; chattering non-stop along the way, he was enough to give anyone a headache.

Once he arrived at the Prince Residence, Uncle Li and the other people inside, finding him adorable, pampered him with all sorts of delicious treats and fun things.

Kong Ran became even more unruly, and even though Qi Yu told them they had serious matters to attend to, not merely to have fun, he insisted on going out with them.

In the end, their party of two grew into a group of four.

By the time they arrived at Yongchun Hall, it was not yet time to open.

Qi Yu led them in through the back door, and Manager Qian, both alarmed and overjoyed at the sight of so many people, chattered and laughed with them for a while before they all got to work and opened the doors of Yongchun Hall.

The long queue in front of Yongchun Hall had become a spectacle in the capital city, overtaking even the busiest bun shop in terms of the number of people lining up.

At first, everyone watched with a spectator’s curiosity.

But as time went on, they realized that the master of the hall truly could cure those difficult and various ailments; for any small pain or minor sickness, they hurried to join the line.

Liao Fan and Kong Ran also often helped the poor in Yunhe Temple, providing alms to beggars when they encountered them.

But they were still shocked by Yongchun Hall’s policy of not charging a penny for treatment.

Kong Ran watched dumbfounded for a while, then tugged at Liao Fan’s sleeve and whispered timidly in his ear, "Fairy Sister is such a good person!"

Liao Fan nodded and took him along to help.

After years in the temple, apart from studying Buddhist scriptures, he had read many other texts and had acquired some knowledge about medical practice.

Seeing that Liao Fan was skilled at taking pulses, Qi Yu let him take over her own duties.

Although some were initially skeptical, seeing that Liao Fan was a Monk, and that he had an extraordinary presence, like a truly enlightened sage, they began to trust him.

Some of the young, unmarried girls, veiled as they came for treatment, could not help but feel their hearts flutter upon seeing Liao Fan’s handsome face.

But seeing his indifferent demeanor, treating everyone equally, they also let go of their fanciful thoughts.

After all, he was a Monk, and no matter how handsome, what use was that to them?

With nothing else needing her attention, Qi Yu sat down with the little Monk to have tea, watching as Kong Ran tasted his, found it bitter, wanted to spit it out, but realizing it would be rude, forced himself to swallow it back down.

His face, creased like a bun, made everyone else chuckle.

For a moment, the atmosphere both outside and inside of Yongchun Hall was very harmonious.

Everyone failed to notice that, from a seat by the window on the second floor of the tea house across the street, a pair of eyes with a hint of chill were indifferently sweeping over the scene.

Lingya had been residing in the palace for a while and had received news early this morning that the State Preceptor was entering the capital city. She immediately found an excuse and left.

Li Tianze, feeling guilty about the previous poisoning incident, did not send anyone to follow her.

Lingya had specifically chosen the location opposite Yongchun Hall and, pointing at the person in black below, said, "That is Princess Qi."

Jiutu glanced at the person and said with a cold laugh, "She really knows how to hide her claws."

He hadn’t made his arrival in the capital city known because he heard that Lingya had been bullied in Dazhao and wanted to secretly find some trouble for those people first.

But he hadn’t expected that Princess Qi would indeed be difficult to handle.

Speaking indifferently, he said, "Two days ago, I had an encounter with her at Yunhe Temple, and that woman harbors some secrets."

The figure dressed in black that Qi Yu had seen in the forest that day was him.

Liao Ran had also been instigated by him to decide to make a move on Liao Fan and Kong Ran.

What he thought was a foolproof plan was unexpectedly foiled by Qi Yu.

Upon hearing this, Lingya was startled and asked, "Has the State Preceptor been injured?"

Jiutu shook his head, "Not at all."

However, he frowned and asked, "Why do you ask that?"

Qi Yu, a defenseless woman who knew no martial arts, could not have injured him.

But Lingya, without a second thought, assumed he would be at a disadvantage, which irritated him somewhat.

Lingya recounted in detail the events that had happened to her in the past few days, explaining, "It’s not that I don’t trust the State Preceptor, but that Princess Qi is indeed somewhat eerie. Anyone who confronts her ends up at a disadvantage."

This was also the reason she had decided not to oppose Qi Yu any longer.

Whether it was Prince Anran, Noble Consort Anran, or Qi Anran, not only did they fail to harm her in the slightest, but they also ended up implicating themselves.

After listening, Jiutu was silent for quite a while.

Though he was from Tulan, he didn’t quite believe in ghosts and gods.

As for the Witchcraft Technique, he knew very well that it was nothing but poison, without anything magical.

But Princess Qi was different; she seemed pure and harmless, yet she was scheming and deep.

She did not take action lightly, but when she did, it left her adversaries powerless.

If this were just some cunning strategy, he would not be afraid.

However, there was one thing he couldn’t quite figure out.

"That day, she was clearly standing in front of me, but the next second, she suddenly vanished," Jiutu recalled the scene of that day, gripping his cup even tighter.

He did not consider the possibility of supernatural forces but thought it must be some Blind Eye Technique.

Yet, after ruminating over it for days, he could not figure out how she had done it.

Lingya’s eyes flickered slightly and said, "Princess Qi does indeed possess many wondrous qualities. Not to mention anything else, just the Resurrection Technique alone is enough to arouse suspicion."

The more Jiutu thought about it, the more he felt that this person should not be left unchecked. Even if he couldn’t kill her, he couldn’t let her days be so comfortable.

After some thought, he asked, "Does Princess Qi have any enemies?"
