Chapter 889: Chapter 889 Whatever is said comes

Waking up in the morning, Lu Yi yawned, feeling utterly disheartened at the thought of the backlog of work yet to be done, completely unable to muster any enthusiasm.

After brushing his teeth and washing his face, getting dressed, Lu Yi took his bag and left the house, jogging all the way to the bus station. But before he could get there, he saw the bus he was supposed to take had already pulled in at the stop.

"Wait, wait for me," Lu Yi shouted, quickening his pace while stuffing breakfast into his mouth at the same time.

He really would’ve missed it, but for some unknown reason, the bus stayed at the stop for quite a while, so Lu Yi, pleasantly surprised, continued to sprint toward it, unable to help himself from saying, "Could this be for me? No way! Maybe it’s a breakdown."

Just as Lu Yi caught up with it, he saw many passengers disembarking. Stunned, Lu Yi realized he had inadvertently predicted right; there was indeed a breakdown, disabling the bus from moving, so passengers had no choice but to wait for the next one.

Unable to help himself, Lu Yi let out a wry laugh, because this meant squeezing two buses’ worth of people into one, and it was the peak hour for work.

With no other option, Lu Yi had to wait for the next bus, grumblingly saying, "Come on, my luck can’t be this bad, right? The next one better come quickly and not get stuck in traffic."

Twenty minutes later, there was no sign of the next bus, and as Lu Yi looked at the long line of cars on the road, he knew he had jinxed it again; there was a traffic jam.

"Goddamnit, this damned mouth of mine." Lu Yi almost slapped himself; now he had no choice but to run a few more blocks to catch another bus.

As they say, even the unluckiest person has their turn of fortune, and Lu Yi had not run far when he saw Su Hui’s car parked on the side of the road. It turned out Su Hui was on her way to work but had come upon a task, so she didn’t go to the office and headed straight to the scene instead.

After handling the matter, Su Hui bought breakfast, preparing to enjoy it, but then she saw Lu Yi running towards her ecstatically.

"Sister Su, thank goodness, seeing you is like seeing a dear relative, I’m so happy. I’m in a rush to get to work, so please, I’m begging you," Lu Yi put on a pitiful act, while Su Hui swallowed a mouthful of breakfast and nodded her head, agreeing.

"Thank you! Sister Su!" Lu Yi was overjoyed and immediately jumped into the passenger seat.

Su Hui couldn’t help but chuckle then started the car and headed towards the bank where Lu Yi worked.

"How’s it going, selling the financial products and credit cards? Met any big clients recently? Introduce one to your sister," Su Hui initiated a conversation, teasing Lu Yi on purpose.

Lu Yi, awkwardly scratching his head, admitted things were not going very well, "The performance pressure has been immense lately. I’m still several deals short for my quota. How about this, Sister Su, since we ran into each other and you’re driving me to the bank, why not help me by purchasing some of our products?"

"What’s that supposed to mean? I spend my gas to drive you there, and then I have to spend extra money to buy something? Wouldn’t I be at a loss?" Su Hui had a perplexed look, but Lu Yi immediately pulled out a brochure, "No loss, no loss, Sister Su, just listen to me. Our product is very user-friendly, specially designed for young urban women like you. Only outstanding women like you can enjoy my exclusive services."

After hearing this, Su Hui gave Lu Yi a disdainful look, "Can I call you ’big brother’? You’ve just entered society and you’ve already become like this. To meet your performance targets, would you say anything shameless?"

"Sister Su, don’t say that, I’m sincerely recommending this," Lu Yi eagerly retorted, but Su Hui remained skeptical, "Sincerely recommending? Do you even have a conscience left, and if you do, doesn’t it hurt?"

"Alright, alright, I’ll stop talking," Lu Yi gave up, staring out of the car window with a sigh.

Su Hui consoled him, "Okay, Lu Yi, we’re friends. Your products are good, but I really don’t need them. You could ask Gu Fan or even Du Jun."

Lu Yi shook his head, "I don’t sell to people I know, I don’t mix business with personal relationships. I understand sometimes friends buy my products not because they really like them, but just to give my business a boost. So each time I do a deal with friends, it’s like owing them a favor, and a favor always has to be repaid."

Listening to him, Su Hui looked confused, "That sounds reasonable, so why did you still recommend it to me?"

"Because I felt that this product and you, Sister Su, are particularly fated. I just started selling this product, and we seldom see each other in the morning. I think it’s a sign from the heavens, telling me to sell this product to you," Lu Yi declared righteously as if it were all meant to be.

Not buying it, Su Hui retorted, "I’m curious, you don’t usually take this route to work, do you? How could we have met?"

Lu Yi explained, "That’s because the bus I usually take from my doorstep broke down, and another got stuck in traffic, so I decided to walk a few more streets to take another bus. I didn’t expect to bump into you, Sister Su, so thank the heavens for your help. I think I won’t be late now unless your car also breaks down."

The moment Lu Yi finished his sentence, Su Hui noticed something was wrong with her car – it really broke down. Left fuming, Su Hui pounded on Lu Yi, cursing as she struck, "You doomsayer! You son of a... Why would you say something like that!"

Lu Yi held his bag high, protecting his head, taking the beating and crying out, "If you had just talked to me about the product, maybe I wouldn’t have said anything else, so you’re also responsible, Sister Su."

"What do you mean? Is this how you pass the blame?" Su Hui, livid, continued her thrashing.

Lu Yi pleaded, "Please, Sister Su, don’t hit the face; I have to go to work, I have to meet clients."

"Fine, I’ll spare you," Su Hui finished venting her anger, then tried the car again, and to her surprise, it started working. It was really baffling – one moment it was broken, the next it was fine.

Afterward, Su Hui drove Lu Yi to the front of the bank where he worked and told him to get out quickly. She feared that staying a moment longer with him might bring misfortune as soon as he opened his mouth.

Under the threatening gaze of Su Hui, Lu Yi immediately clammed up and got out of the car, fearing he would be kicked out if he lingered.

"Work hard, and if you can’t meet your quota by the end of the month, come to me," said Su Hui, and without even a goodbye, she drove off, afraid that if she stayed any longer, and Lu Yi said anything, her car might not start again.

"Thanks, Sister Su, be careful of traffic jams on the road," Lu Yi called out loudly, almost causing Su Hui to use the steering wheel to hit him.
