Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 829: Controlling Everything
Chapter 829: Chapter 829: Controlling Everything
A crow flew across the sky, eyeing both sides of the battle, and it saw what Qian Ye saw.
At this moment, Qian Ye was perched on a small hilltop, looking down at the sparks that occasionally flashed on the dark highway below, listening to the gunfire that followed. Her nerves were taut; tonight, she was determined to thoroughly crush Gu Fan.
After Su Hui had dealt with the enemy, she hurried over to join Gu Fan. However, even with her joining the fight, the situation could not be reversed because the Black Night Gang always had good timing and order in attack and defense.
Since Su Hui had arrived, it meant that there were no more enemies behind them. Gu Fan instructed some of the Haiyan Gang to quickly find a way to clear a route from the back, while the others continued to fight, holding off the enemy.
Su Hui found that wherever she ran, the enemy stayed far away from that spot, not giving her a chance to fire a single shot, much to her frustration.
The Black Night Gang’s firepower was too ferocious, leaving Gu Fan no choice but to retreat with his Haiyan Gang to the second line of defense.
"What’s going on!" Gu Fan was frustrated. As they were falling back to the second defensive line, the Black Night Gang, as if they knew, launched a full-on attack, catching Gu Fan and his men in a passive position.
Su Hui raised her suspicions, "Gu Fan, have you noticed that the Black Night Gang is different from before? They’re too good at seizing the moment."
Gu Fan nodded, "I have the same feeling, as if they know our every move."
Su Hui added, "Earlier, when I was lying on top of the cargo container of the truck, they shouldn’t have been able to see me from underneath the vehicle, but somehow, they knew exactly where I was, kept their focus on me, and nearly hit me."
Hearing this, Gu Fan frowned, "Then how did you manage to take out the enemy?"
"Because I was lying on top of the cargo at first, slowly moving my body. Later, I stood up and ran fast, then jumped down to a safe place. They still noticed my movement, but they were a step too slow to follow, and then I launched a beautiful counterattack," Su Hui said seriously, stressing her words as she continued, "After that, I dealt with another group of enemies easily and then rushed over to your side, only to find that you were in trouble."
"What do you mean?" Gu Fan was somewhat confused, and Su Hui did not provide further explanation. She intended to verify her hypothesis with real action.
Helen cautiously emerged from behind the vehicle, ready to strike, but as if the enemy knew that she was coming out, they immediately rushed out and opened fire.
Luckily, Helen reacted quickly. She immediately threw herself to the ground and rolled several times under the truck, making it back to Gu Fan’s side.
"Did you see that? They really seem to know our movements," Helen said, gasping for air, clearly under a lot of pressure.
Gu Fan was concerned, "Sister Su, you don’t have to take such great risks just to confirm this."
"Of course, it’s necessary," Su Hui replied earnestly. Then she charged out again, but this time not slowly—she moved swiftly. But she was cunning; after running out for a bit, she immediately turned back and ran to her starting point.
The Black Night Gang’s men rushed out to shoot but didn’t see Su Hui, because she had already retreated.
Gu Fan now understood, "So that’s it. The enemy can detect your movement, but the difference is that if you move quickly, their response is still a beat behind, which means..."
Su Hui nodded, "Exactly, there must be someone overseeing everything and watching our movements, then instructing the Black Night Gang how to act. But by the time she sees it and informs them, and they start moving, it takes time. So, if I’m faster, even if they know my movements, they can’t keep up."
"That makes sense, but the question is, how exactly are they tracking our movements?" Gu Fan thought about what it would take to be able to oversee everything. With so many vehicles on-site and all angles to consider, it was impossible to see everything—unless...
Gu Fan had a sudden realization and looked up, just in time to see a crow circling overhead. He instantly understood, Lin Xi’s ability was naturally familiar to Qian Ye.
"Sister Su, please!" Gu Fan motioned to the sky, and without hesitation, Helen took a shot and brought down the crafty bird.
In an instant, Qian Ye lost her vision and was infuriated, "Damn it, this pair of dogs somehow discovered it."
Her subordinate asked, "Boss, we currently have the advantage. Why don’t we send more people to charge in and completely finish them off?"
"No, save our strength and wait to see how the situation develops before making a move," Qian Ye didn’t want to delay any longer, but having experience in leading troops, she knew that wasn’t the way to fight. Sending everyone out without keeping a reserve would make it very difficult to adapt if the situation changed.
While Qian Ye was considering her options, suddenly, many headlights lit up from behind, and the roaring sound of engines approached rapidly, clearly signaling unwelcome arrivals.
"You’ve got to be kidding me, another group? Could it be..." Qian Ye guessed it wasn’t security forces; first, because this location was remote with no residences nearby, and the prolonged fight hadn’t been discovered yet.
Secondly, even if it was discovered, security forces were too far away to arrive within an hour.
Hence, Qian Ye surmised that it was likely another group, an organization opposed to her destruction of the space-time door.
The arriving convoy blocked Gu Fan’s escape route, then the passengers disembarked, among them Helen, Qiao Ya, and Dong Ni, with smirks of pleasure on their faces.
"You almost got away, Gu Fan. Lucky for us, you have bad luck—not only were we able to find you, but you’re also trapped here," Helen said before signaling, and the Lone Wolf Gang began their well-armed assault, more ferocious than before.
At the same time, a Haiyan Gang member came running from behind, panicked, "It’s bad! There’s another group coming from behind. It looks like it’s the Lone Wolf Gang."
Hearing this, Gu Fan and Sister Su felt desperation rising in their hearts. What a time for another enemy to join the fray, and worst of all, Gu Fan and his group were now sandwiched between two gangs, in a real mess.
The Haiyan Gang had lost more than half of their number and were beginning to regret having responded to Gu Fan’s call. But it was too late for regrets now, unless they defied their professional code of ethics and captured Gu Fan and Sister Su.
The intense gunfire indicated the overwhelming fire power, which significantly increased the pressure on Gu Fan, Sister Su, and the Haiyan Gang, making the chance to break out seem slim.
A few gunshots followed by several cries of pain indicated that some were hit. The remaining members of the Haiyan Gang were few, and the situation was dire.
