Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 674: Really Good Luck

Chapter 674: Chapter 674: Really Good Luck

Just as the situation became irreversible, the island jolted violently. Gu Fan, Lisa, and Su Hui lost their footing and fell to the ground.

Gu Fan was inches away from touching the blue crystal. Had he reached it, he would have become one of the Wandering Sea Ghosts.

"Ha, ha, ha, I knew it would be like this!" Gu Fan laughed loudly as he lay on the ground. It was a genuine, happy laughter, as if he hadn’t laughed like this in a long time.

"Damn it!" Lisa growled unwillingly, her eyes on the blue crystal. She refused to believe that under her martial threat, Gu Fan could still find a way out.

However, the island’s shaking had knocked the crystal to roll some distance away. By the time Lisa finally picked it up, Su Hui and Gu Fan had taken the chance to run off. Lisa was so angry her mouth seemed twisted.

"Come back here! This betrayal... Gu Fan, can you hear me? We make the perfect team!" Lisa shouted, instigating Gu Fan and Su Hui to hasten their escape.

Lisa pursued them, but the testing ground was vast. She quickly lost sight of Gu Fan and Su Hui as she lagged behind.

"Do you think you can run away?" Lisa chased and yelled promisingly that she would catch them. The recent violent shake of the island indicated that it had already sunk into the sea, which meant that Gu Fan and Su Hui had no escape.

Quite frustrated when the pair still eluded her grasp, Lisa shouted out, "Gu Fan, you know your own condition! I’ve drained too much of your Qi. There’s only one fate left for you now—to become a Sea Ghost. I’m doing this for your own good!"

Gu Fan and Su Hui, hiding in a room, heard this and Gu Fan scoffed, "Huh, I’d rather die than suck the life out of others just like you!"

Seeing the pallor of Gu Fan’s face, Su Hui felt a pang of concern. She scolded Gu Fan, "You are being too foolish!"

"No worries, as I said, if the Destiny Stone has set this path for me, it won’t let me fail that easily," Gu Fan asserted with faux confidence. Internally, he wasn’t so sure; who knew when the path laid out by Destiny Stone would indeed come to an end? Perhaps it was this island.

"We should find a way to leave, but..." Su Hui sounded pessimistic. Gu Fan inferred, "Considering the time, the island must be sinking at this point. All we can do now is continue to play hide and seek with Lisa."

Su Hui thought for a moment, "Lisa siphoned off some of your Qi. Her energy won’t last long. As long as we can hang on a little longer, Lisa might not be able to do much to us."

Gu Fan knew that Lisa had fallen out with the other Wandering Sea Ghosts, and wouldn’t dare roam around freely. She feared that if she encountered one of them, she would be thrown out into the open.

They remained hidden for a long time without any sign of movement outside. Gu Fan and Su Hui didn’t dare leave their hiding spot, worried that Lisa was lurking just outside, waiting to catch them. In the quiet, Gu Fan began to ponder over the characteristics and traits of the Wandering Sea Ghosts.

Already, Gu Fan knew that the Sea Ghosts could only surface at nighttime when the moon was obscured by clouds, and the Triangle Sea Area was shrouded in mist. This was when Lisa and her Wandering Sea Ghosts could come out of their ship and into existence.

A corporeal Wandering Sea Ghost could leave its ghost ship, but a non-corporeal one couldn’t. The ghost ship seemed to protect the Sea Ghosts in some way.

Moreover, even if a Sea Ghost became corporeal and could leave the ship, it couldn’t land on the island. However, this island was a unique exception that allowed Lisa’s kind. Something on this island was protecting the Sea Ghosts.

When Gu Fan voiced this speculation, Su Hui agreed. If they could find and destroy whatever was protecting the Sea Ghosts, they might be able to rid the island of them.

At the moment, Gu Fan and Su Hui were hiding in a small cupboard. The space was extremely narrow with both of their faces in close proximity. When their eyes met, for unknown reasons, they both froze, staring into each other’s eyes.

After a moment of shared gaze, they hastily diverted their eyes, both looking slightly guilty. If Lisa had been there, she would have sneered in contempt, "What a duo. I can sense something between you two. Hypocrites."

This island, built by the ancient Super Civilization, maintained fresh air even when it was sinking. This was apparent even as they hid in the cramped cupboard. However, the two of them being packed so closely together was rather awkward.

To ease the tension, Su Hui asked, "How are you feeling now, Gu Fan?"

"I’m okay...?" Gu Fan didn’t look good, having given too much of his Qi to Lisa and having run for so long, his body was worn out. His eyes were tired and hazy.

Eventually, Gu Fan fainted, leaning his body against the cupboard and his head against Su Hui’s shoulder.

Worried, Su Hui felt Gu Fan’s weak, shallow breaths. She grabbed his arm to find his heartbeat becoming increasingly frail.

"Please hang in there, Gu Fan," she pleaded softly, arranging him comfortably in the cupboard before quietly slipping out. She planned on finding some food and drink which might revitalize him. Long hours of hiding in such a confined space without any nourishment was hard, even more so for Gu Fan in his present condition.

Surprisingly with good luck, Su Hui found a barrel of water in the same room. She took a small sip to find it refreshingly clear. Silently, she praised the architects of the ancient Super Civilization.

When Su Hui returned with the water, she found an unconscious Gu Fan incapable of swallowing. She tried rousing him to no avail.

"Gu Fan, please wake up," Su Hui urged fruitlessly and decided to take an extreme measure. She resolutely gulped down some water, and leaned in.

Ten minutes later, Gu Fan woke, finding himself leaning on Su Hui’s shoulder, embarrassingly close. Su Hui herself looked quite bashful.

Gu Fan immediately apologized, "I’m sorry, Sister Su."

"It’s okay, as long as you’re awake," Su Hui said. Her heart pounded anxiously, she hoped that Gu Fan might notice something.

Gu Fan licked his lips and swallowed, finding his throat surprisingly moist. He couldn’t figure out how he had went from being parched to this sudden relief.
