Chapter 673: Chapter 673: Sure Enough, Not a Good Person

"What are you saying, don’t you trust me?" Lisa looked quite angry, but Gu Fan remained calm, and continued, "Earlier, you mentioned that the researchers here turned into statues because something went wrong during their immortality research. Is that correct?"

"Yes, what’s the problem?" Lisa furrowed her brows slightly, sensing something was amiss.

Gu Fan continued speaking: "I observed the statues outside, their expressions and postures appear natural. They became statues without knowing what was happening, meaning they were unaware of any issues with the experiment. However, the statues in this room reveal looks of terror, indicating they knew something was wrong with the experiment. Is this experiment related to that blue crystal in your hands?"

Su Hui chimed in: "If I’m not wrong, why would the Shennv Xuanhui, given how unique this crystal is, not take it away? Either there’s something wrong with the crystal, or Shennv Xuanhui never entered this room, right?"

Gu Fan added: "Since the crystal relates to immortality, is it possible that by touching it, one would achieve immortality in the same way you did, becoming a Wandering Sea Ghost like yourself?"

Lisa paused, her expression growing serious: "As I said earlier, if I meant to harm you, I wouldn’t have waited till now."

"Because you know you can’t seize power alone, you need allies, and we could be those allies," Gu Fan said each word deliberately, his assertions strongly suggesting that he had seen through Lisa’s scheme.

Still, Lisa stood her ground: "If I had tricked you in such a way, you would surely be furious and refuse to help me seize power."

"Because you knew we value friendship, and would go to great lengths to protect our friends, even if we became Wandering Sea Ghosts ourselves due to your deception, even if we harbored resentment against you, we would still assist you in order to protect our companions from the other Sea Ghosts." Su Hui’s statement seemed to rip away Lisa’s facade, her words visibly irritating Lisa.

"Very clever," Lisa said. "If only I hadn’t allowed you to see that video. Nevertheless, the outcome will be the same, except that I’ll just have to exert a little more effort." Lisa’s aggressive stance immediately put Gu Fan and Su Hui on high alert.

Knowing he couldn’t defeat Lisa head on, Gu Fan proposed: "Wait, Lisa. Even without becoming a Wandering Sea Ghost, I could still help you regain your power."

"Impossible," Lisa began. "I know the Sea Ghosts better than anyone. As long as they remain over the sea, you stand no chance against them. Only by becoming Sea Ghosts and working in tandem with your companions can they be expelled from the sea. However, that would mean sacrificing you and Su Hui."

Seeing the resolute expressions on Gu Fan and Su Hui’s faces, Lisa broke into a smile: "Let me be generous. I’ll offer you two choices. One of you must become a Sea Ghost and help me reclaim what’s mine, while the other can leave safely."

"Dream on, neither of us will agree." Su Hui took a sudden offensive, aiming to seize the initiative. But her injury slowed her down and as a result, she was kicked away by Lisa. Lisa mocked her scornfully: "Even at your best, you’re not my match, let alone now that you’re injured. Though, I must admit, I admire your fighting spirit."

Turning her attention back to Gu Fan, Lisa asked: "So, what do you plan to do, boy? Since you’ve already made one sacrifice for her, how about making another? Especially given the state of your health."

Hearing this, Gu Fan sighed: "After all the trouble you’ve gone through to bring us here, I wouldn’t want to disappoint you. But can I even trust you?"

With a faint smile, Lisa moved closer to Gu Fan, one hand wrapped around his neck while the other offered the glowing blue crystal, "Once you become a Sea Ghost and help me deal with the other Sea Ghosts, there will be only two of us left in this world. A perfect pair. I’ll favor you, boy, consider it as a compensation from me."

"Interesting! Your offer is quite sincere." Gu Fan glanced at the blue crystal in Lisa’s hand, then asked, "I wonder, why don’t you just force it into my hand?"

Lisa explained: "If I were to force it into your hand, you would resist and you wouldn’t become a Wandering Sea Ghost. But when I accepted immortality, it was willingly."

"I see," Gu Fan sank deep into thought, realizing he might have no other option.

Just then, Su Hui managed to stand up and shouted, "Gu Fan, don’t do anything reckless, Lisa, if you need help, I’m stronger than Gu Fan, I’m a better choice."

"True, but I’d prefer a man like Gu Fan by my side, wouldn’t that perfect the pair?" Lisa said, taking a breath of Gu Fan’s Qi, seeming extremely invigorated.

"Come on, touch this crystal, you’ll gain immortality and seize a beautiful lady, what a deal." Saying this, Lisa brought the blue crystal closer to Gu Fan’s face.

"No! Gu Fan!" Su Hui moved to stop him but he restrained her: "Sister Su, if only one of us can leave here, I hope it’s you. Everyone came here because of me, it’s my responsibility to face all the risks. So don’t argue with me."

Hearing this, Su Hui was taken aback, not sure what to say, whereas Lisa burst into laughter: "Dear Lord, never expected a young man like you could be so responsible and stalwart, seems like I’ve struck gold. Just so we’re clear, once you’re with me, you cannot think of any other woman, especially not Su Hui."

"Of course, no problem," Gu Fan said, then burst into laughter, affectionately flicking Lisa’s nose: "We’re not even together yet and you’re already jealous, looks like I’ve found true love."

As Gu Fan was about to touch the crystal, Su Hui intervened once more: "Gu Fan, don’t!"

Gu Fan merely smiled faintly: "Sister Su, I’ve been thinking. If Destiny Stone led me here, it must be for a reason. I don’t believe that Destiny Stone wants me to be a Sea Ghost, trapped on this island unable to proceed any further. Therefore, I’ll take a gamble." Saying this, Gu Fan slowly reached out his hand towards the crystal.

Su Hui watched anxiously while Lisa looked on expectantly.
