Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 655: Such a Big One

Chapter 655: Chapter 655: Such a Big One

The surroundings were filled with mist and boulders in an unfamiliar environment. Everyone rushed blindly, following whatever path they could find. Some of them were running so fast that they almost crashed into a massive boulder.

"Oh heavens, I knew it wouldn’t be this easy," Lu Yi yelled while running, only to be shushed by Gu Fan.

Gu Fan had with him Leng Le, Lu Yi, Ouyang Jin, and three subordinates of some high-powered bosses. They had been running for a while, and the less physically fit among them were almost out of breath.

"Hold up, Gu Fan. Let’s rest for a bit," suggested Leng Le.

Glancing around, Gu Fan saw that nearly everyone was on the brink of collapse. Knowing that they couldn’t keep going like this, especially since there were no signs of sea snakes tailing them, he agreed to take a break.

"That was really dangerous!" exclaimed Ouyang Jin as he wiped his sweat and sighed. "I knew I shouldn’t have taken this job. It’s too troublesome."

"But you took it, which means you’re a man of your word. If you could just stop raising prices, I’d genuinely fall for you," retorted Lu Yi.

"Yeah, right!" Ouyang Jin snorted with laughter.

"Alright, everyone. Rest up and we’ll go slow. Try to regain your strength as we move along," Gu Fan announced.

Everyone followed Gu Fan’s instructions and started walking again. However, because their run had been so intense, their legs felt heavy.

Leng Le walked up to Gu Fan and asked, "What’s the matter? You don’t seem very keen to talk to us. Don’t tell me you’d rather be with Su Hui."

"Relax. Since we’re in this together, theoretically we’re partners, so I won’t abandon anyone or just leave anyone for dead," Gu Fan replied, a faint smile tugging at his lips. Suddenly, his smile froze.

"What’s wrong?" Leng Le asked, noticing that Gu Fan was looking behind them. He turned around and found the outline of a rock moving.

Everyone halted and Lu Yi exclaimed, "Oh my! The stones here are really moving... They’ve even opened a path for us. Should we go and see what’s on the other side?"

Gu Fan nodded, "This way is towards the sea too, let’s go and check."

"Good!" Leng Le agreed, and since nobody objected, they cautiously proceeded.

As they moved forward, they didn’t notice anything unusual in the front. However, Gu Fan heard some strange sounds. It seemed like something was approaching from the rear. When he turned around, he saw a wall in the mist, blocking their way back.

"Not again, this place!" Everyone groaned in despair. The paths were shifting randomly as if they were trapped in a moving maze. How could they find their way out under such circumstances?

Gu Fan was also troubled, not just by their entrapment, but also by the unexpected dangers. The situation was further complicated by the fact that the island might sink at any moment.

Just as they were fretting, they noticed something bizarre. The wall that had suddenly appeared behind them started to move sideways, leaving everyone dumbfounded.

Before Gu Fan and the others could recover from the shock, another wall moved into the path on their right, blocking their way.

"What in the world is this wall trying to do?" Lu Yi asked irritably and kicked the seemingly metallic, soft stone.

Leng Le asked someone to touch it. The person reached out to feel the ’wall’, which wasn’t as hard as a metal or stone. The texture felt more like skin.

"This is..." The person tried to understand what exactly he was dealing with. Everyone else was shocked, while Leng Le advised him to step back.

The person barely understood the situation when he looked up and saw a pair of glowing eyes in the mist and long columnar objects twisting about. He froze upon realizing that he was staring at a colossal sea snake.

"Why are you standing there? Run!" Gu Fan shouted, prompting everyone to take off running. The person nearest to the sea snake let out a shrill cry and bolted.

Gu Fan fired a few rounds from his gun to keep the creature at bay but to no avail. The sea snake, with its thick, tough skin, was undeterred. It lunged forward and swallowed the nearest person whole, silencing their screams in an instant.

"My God, it’s huge!" Gu Fan exclaimed upon realizing the actual size of the snake. He thought, this must be some machine snake created by the ancient Super Civilization.

After swallowing one person, the giant sea snake didn’t seem satisfied. Its next target was Gu Fan.

To make matters worse, Gu Fan’s poor aim had resulted in a misfire. The sea snake was lunging towards him when gunfire rang out. It was Leng Le. She was advancing and firing at the same time. Although her shooting wasn’t as accurate as Su Hui’s, the snake was a big target. It was easy to hit its eyes.

Gu Fan was stunned. Never had he expected his ex-girlfriend to save him.

Leng Le shouted, "What are you waiting for? Let’s attack it together. Aim for the eyes."

Gu Fan snapped back to reality and raised his gun, as did the others. And after several rounds of gunfire, they managed to shoot out one of the snake’s eyes.

The snake writhed in agony and quickly retreated.

"Everyone, be careful. It may come back any time," Gu Fan warned while retreating, with everyone else on guard. Their best chance of survival was to stick together and cooperate.

"Dear sea snake, we’ve done nothing to harm you. Let’s not get in each other’s way. Please, don’t come back!" Lu Yi pleaded, shaking with fear, as were the others.

No matter how careful they were, they couldn’t anticipate every possible danger. When they retreated to a certain area, a light emitted from the side. Within the light were the eyes of the sea snake!

The sea snake suddenly lunged forward, wrapped its tongue around one person, and swallowed them whole. The screams barely got out before they were stifled. Without lingering, the snake retreated.

"You bastard!" Everyone fired at the snake as it retreated but to no avail, and they finally ceased fire.

"We’re in big trouble," Gu Fan clenched his teeth, at a loss of what to do. Suddenly, he heard gunfire from a different direction. It might be Su Hui’s group facing some sort of danger.

The gunfire stopped after a while. Gu Fan and his group worried for Su Hui’s team, but had no way of reaching them.
