Chapter 654: Chapter 654: Sea Snake’s Massive Siege

So, everyone did not run around, but kept staring at the stone blocking the road. After half an hour of staring, for the first time, everyone felt extremely bored.

However, even so, the stone still did not move, not even a hint of it shifting even slightly.

Su Hui became worried: "What do we do? Looks like this stone has no intention of letting us pass. We don’t have time to waste here. The island could sink into the sea at any moment."

Gu Fan agreed and added, "There’s something strange about this place, and the stranger it is, the more it confirms we’re on the right track."

"That’s Gu Fan for you, still finding different angles in this situation. But please focus on how we can leave here safely. I don’t want to sink with this island," Leng Le said with a mixture of admiration and pleading in his eyes.

"It’s simple, boss, could you please smash this stone with a punch? I don’t want to look for another direction. This place, being unfamiliar, could easily lead us astray," Gu Fan pleaded in return.

"Sure, anything to help everyone out, I’m more than happy to oblige," the boss smiled and walked up to the stone. But even before he moved to strike it, a crowd of people scattered, fearing that if the boss used too much force and the stone shattered, the splinters might rebound and hit them.

The boss drew in a deep breath, poised his fist, and then lunged forward with a mighty shout and punched the stone.

However, even with a muffled sound, the stone remained unmoved, showing no signs of breaking, greatly surprising everyone as it was able to withstand the boss’s punch.

"Oh my, how can this be? Boss, did you skip breakfast?" Lu Yi approached the stone, inspecting it closely, and found not even a mark.

The boss was equally shocked: "This is no ordinary stone, there are very few in the world that can withstand my fist."

Everyone knew about the boss’s strength. Feeling the gravity of the situation, Gu Fan ran his hand over the stone’s surface and said darkly, "My God, it feels both like a stone and like machinery. It’s surely a relic of the Ancient Super Civilization."

"So it’s from the Ancient Super Civilization, that explains it..." Everyone understood at once, and Gu Fan’s words were clearly justified: this was indeed the very island they were seeking.

Unable to contain herself, Lu Yi interjected, "Alright, everyone, now’s not the time to celebrate our arrival. It’s time to think of a way to leave."

"I don’t buy it. The stone may be hard, but its weight is limited; it can’t be heavier than a cargo ship. The boss, you pushed a cargo ship before, you should certainly be able to push this stone," Gu Fan reasoned. His words irked the boss, who felt as if he was being exploited.

But given the circumstances, everyone was pinning their hopes on the boss, who placed his hands on the massive stone, employing every muscle in his body to attempt to move it.

As Gu Fan predicted, the boss was strong enough to push the rock. However, this method of exhausting his strength wasn’t ideal.

Doomsayer Lu Yi couldn’t help but say, "I wonder if our forcefully pushing the stone would trigger a chain reaction of other mechanisms."

Xu Haowen, Ouyang Jin, and Jie wanted to stop Lu Yi, but he had already let his words out.

"Everyone, be careful. We may have triggered a mechanism. Stay alert," Ouyang Jin warned, leaving Leng Le and Hai somewhat confused as to why he was certain they had triggered a mechanism.

The boss hadn’t pushed the stone very far before sweat began to pour down his forehead. Despite his efforts, there was no noticeable change in their circumstances, so he decided to stop pushing.

"Launch a blue flare and let Lin Xi sound the ship’s horn to guide us," Gu Fan instructed. Ouyang Jin promptly fired a flare into the sky, and a blue light shot upwards.

A horn soon blared from the sea. Gu Fan was pleased: "Everyone, remember the direction of the sound. We’ll find another way, but no matter which way we go, we must always keep this direction in mind."

Everyone understood Gu Fan’s point: there was no more time to waste, and even if they couldn’t return the same way, they had to find another route back to the ship as soon as possible.

Suddenly a scream drew everyone’s attention. They turned and saw a figure shaking uncontrollably, evidently entangled in something.

When everyone went over to investigate, they found sea snakes entwining around the person’s legs, and in no time at all, they were climbing rapidly up his body. There were more and more of them, and he couldn’t shake them off.

Hai tried to help, but Jie stopped him. "Don’t do it, bro. It’s too dangerous."

"I can’t leave a comrade behind," Hai argued. He reached out to help the person, only to have a sea snake nearly bite him.

"We can’t stay here any longer," the boss pointed out, observing more and more sea snakes emerging from the surroundings. The snake-entangled individual collapsed, overwhelmed by countless snakes.

"Oh my God, run!" Gu Fan shouted just as the sea snakes charged forward.

Out of fear, everyone’s first instinct was to dodge. Some leaped to the left, others shuffled to the right, dividing the group in two.

The situation was dire, and there wasn’t time to think. Gu Fan could only say, "Split up and run everyone, but no matter what, remember the direction of the horn earlier. Boss, can you distract the sea snakes to buy us some time?"

"Alright, I got it," Su Hui nodded and made an ’okay’ sign, while noticing the sea snakes closing in on her.

The boss crushed a sea snake’s head under his foot, kicked them away one by one, and tore others in half with his bare hands. Despite being bitten multiple times, he didn’t even flinch. "Hurry up, everyone. I don’t know how long I can keep this up."

"Oh, to be immortal," Lu Yi, expressing his envy, then turned and ran. Seeing him flee, everyone else followed suit, with Jie calling on Lu Yi to wait for him.

In this way, the group had to split up into two and escape in two different directions, with everyone panic-stricken, determined not to repeat the fate of the previous victim.

Soon, the boss was entwined in an increasing number of sea snakes. Nonetheless, he continued to stomp, kick, and tear through them. More bit him, but he didn’t even bat an eyelash.

"Is that all you’ve got? It’s not enough. Not enough," he taunted. After a while, he realized he might have spoken too soon, as more and more snakes kept swarming onto him. He tripped over a snake and fell, and in the blink of an eye, a pile of sea snakes swallowed him whole.
