Chapter 597: Chapter 597: A Blaze

In order to prevent Su Hui from resisting, the primitive man put another rope around Su Hui’s body. With their superior numbers and strength, Su Hui was left with no chance of counterattack.

Well, the result was no longer in doubt. The primitive people, with a murderous gleam in their eyes and hollering calls, pointed their weapons at Su Hui and Gu Fan.

The primitive men grew more excited with their cries as if a victory would affirm their invincibility, as if a victory would proclaim their justice, because with justice, they could win any fight.

"I’m sorry, everyone, it’s my fault that this happened." Gu Fan knew it was beyond control, all he felt was bitterness and guilt.

Su Hui did not respond. She just calmly watched a primitive man walk towards her with a spear pointed at her.

The primitive man forced Su Hui to kneel. No one understood their gibberish. Su Hui closed her eyes, resigned to her fate.

Watching the primitive man about to kill Su Hui, Gu Fan struggled fiercely, shouting hysterically. Despite being so near, he couldn’t help Su Hui. That distance felt like an eternity.

Just when death seemed imminent, a strong wind suddenly blew. Caught off guard, everyone was blown away and fell flat.

"My God, what a strong wind." Xu Haowen fell clumsily, unsure about the origin of the wind. However, Gu Fan, aware that it was typically Lin Xi’s approach, realized that help had arrived.

"Brothers, I’m here." Lu Yi, with his shield smashing, and Jie swinging his baseball bat, knocked out the primitive men who were attempting to stand up.

Gu Fan smiled and hurried over to help Su Hui, who had collapsed on the ground. He untied her ropes, "Hang in there, Sister Su. Lin Xi is here, our friends are here. We can get out of here, do you hear me?"

"I hear you, your voice is so loud, it’s bothering me." Su Hui answered weakly, seemingly drained of all energy.

Just by her voice, Gu Fan realized that Su Hui was just exhausted, not badly wounded. He then called Xu Haowen to help carry Su Hui away.

Seeing the change in the situation, many primitive men got up, their eyes filled with a murderous gleam, refusing to back down. Another gust of strong wind blew them away again, causing waves of chaos. Many primitive men collided with trees in their flight causing excruciating pain.

Lin Xi arrived and signalled Gu Fan telling him to make a quick escape.

There were too many primitives. Lin Xi couldn’t handle them all at once. Seeing the natives getting up again, she frowned. As she prepared to cast another spell, an arrow sprang from the dark, nearly hitting her. The scare left her in cold sweat; after all, they were on the primitive people’s territory.

"It’s alright, Lu Yi, Jie, you guys retreat too." Lin Xi spoke and quickly made her escape. After having knocked out more than a dozen primitive men, Lu Yi and Jie also immediately fled.

The primitive men weren’t going to let them go easily. They had injured many of their own and were enraged. They howled strange cries to the sky, seemingly notifying their companions.

Gu Fan and Lin Xi, hearing the primitive people shouting behind them, assumed they were calling for reinforcements and so, had no choice but to run faster.

Lin Xi said, "We’ll go this way. I told the others to anchor the boat on the other side."

"Ok!" Gu Fan took a deep breath and continued to support Su Hui.

Despite the threat of the primitives at any hour, Gu Fan and Lin Xi’s progress wasn’t satisfactory. Firstly, Gu Fan had to take care of Su Hui and then another crew member had to tend to another injured crew member, which resulted in their slower pace.

In the midst of the run, everyone got tired, including Lin Xi whose strength was also dwindling. But she couldn’t use magic to restore everyone’s strength and injuries, especially in front of the two crew members. She didn’t want them knowing too much, otherwise she would have helped Su Hui recuperate in the first place.

After a brief rest, Su Hui felt slightly better and could walk without support. However, if they encountered primitives again, they would be unable to fight. Lin Xi had no choice but to first let Su Hui regain her strength and what those two crew members thought afterward was a problem for later.

Barely after a brief rest, the sound of many footsteps could be heard from behind, seemingly like a massive force in procession. Gu Fan, Lin Xi, Su Hui, and the rest were apprehensive. There were too many enemies coming ceaselessly, leaving them no chance of dealing with them.

"We have no other choice, let’s light a fire." Lin Xi’s words struck everyone: indeed, it was a good idea, but the aftermath of the fire would be significant.

Xu Haowen said, "We invaded their homes, and now we are going to burn their homes. Isn’t that too cruel?"

To this, Gu Fan shook his head: "We didn’t invade; at most, we entered improperly. But we had no malice. They were the ones who attempted to take our lives. So, we have no other choices. Hopefully, these primitives can take care of themselves." After saying these words, Gu Fan sighed and signaled Lu Yi and Jie.

"Okay!" Lu Yi and Jie each helped a crew member and then continued onwards.

Those two crew members were confused as to why they were told to go first. Was it to prevent them from watching Gu Fan and Lin Xi start the fire? But they also agreed to this strategy.

After the two crew members left, Lin Xi heard the approaching footsteps, took a deep breath, and said, "Don’t blame me. You forced me into this." She then cast a spell, igniting the trees in front.

Just as the primitive men were rushing over, they saw the fire obstructing their path. They immediately knew who started the fire and roared in anger, as if to curse Gu Fan and the rest for destroying their homes.

Some of the primitives tried to put out the fire. Some were so infuriated that they were thinking of crossing the fire to continue the chase.

"Can’t you guys just let us leave in peace?" Lin Xi was angry. She cast a spell to summon a hurricane. Suddenly, the wind fueled the fire, and it spread quickly, setting many of the primitives ablaze.

Soon, a sea of fire formed. Primitive men were running wildly amidst the flames, screaming in agony and rolling in pain. The scene was tragic.

Su Hui couldn’t bear to watch, but she didn’t pity them. After all, she was almost killed by the primitives, who had been relentlessly pursing them. Lin Xi did what she had to do out of necessity.

Gu Fan knew it was cruel, but it was the only way. He sighed and then said, "Let’s go, we should leave. We need to avoid unnecessary conflicts."
