Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 596: No Escape
Chapter 596: Chapter 596: No Escape
Gu Fan had to rethink his escape plan. If things were as he had anticipated, they would encounter groups of primitive people regardless of the direction they took. Instead of taking a longer route, it would be better to charge straight towards the beach.
Gu Fan discussed his plan with Su Hui. At first, Su Hui and Xu Haowen were hesitant, but once a group of primitives appeared in front of them, everyone started to trust Gu Fan’s judgement.
"Let’s storm through!" With two clubs in hand, Su Hui led the way, felling one primitive after another. Her unstoppable strikes knocked the primitives down, spilled their blood, and even broke their weapons. She demonstrated impressive skill, and given the tense situation, Gu Fan wished he could applaud her technique.
Changing their course, and following Su Hui’s lead, the group headed towards the beach. However, when alien calls from the primitives echoed from behind, Su Hui’s heart sank. If she was not mistaken, the primitives were calling for reinforcements.
"Hurry, we must be quick." Su Hui held up her gun. She planned to remove all obstacles as swiftly as possible.
They sprinted through dense forest, the frantic calls and footsteps from their surroundings grew louder and more frequent. With hearts pounding and the singular thought of running on their minds, they continued.
Suddenly, several primitives jumped down from the trees in a surprise attack on Su Hui and Gu Fan.
Reacting with training-honed reflexes, Gu Fan and Su Hui rolled on the ground to avoid the ambush. Su Hui even delivered a sweeping kick that sent one of the primitives spiraling through the air in pain.
Xu Haowen, however, was not so lucky. A primitive pinned him down, grabbing his throat and silencing his calls for help.
Gu Fan kicked the assailant away and quickly helped Xu Haowen to his feet as they tried to escape.
The situation was bleak; primitives in front, behind, and on both sides. Gu Fan and Su Hui found themselves surrounded.
With no other choice, Su Hui opened fire. She no longer cared about conserving her ammunition. Her shots were both fast and accurate, knocking down each charging primitive she encountered.
Eventually, the primitives became fearful and none dared to approach Su Hui.
Just as Su Hui located their positions and prepared to open fire, a multitude of arrows were shot from the forest. Su Hui reacted quickly and laid low, narrowly avoiding becoming a pincushion for arrows.
Unfortunately, a crew member had been shot in the arm and was in agonizing pain, sweat pouting down his face.
Given the situation, Gu Fan had no choice but to retreat behind a large tree. Admittedly, despite their primitive weapons, the natives could still cause significant damage.
Laying on the ground, Su Hui fired three shots in the direction of incoming arrows. The cries of pain that followed indicated she had landed her shots, and the hail of arrows temporarily ceased.
Suddenly, another barrage of arrows was shot towards Su Hui. She rolled on the ground to evade the assault, just missing a multitude of arrows where she had been laying.
Su Hui checked her ammunition. There was not much left; five shots at most. However, there were hundreds of primitives and even more potentially closing in from all directions.
Su Hui gritted her teeth in determination. If she was going to fail, she was taking as many of the primitives with her as possible.
The onslaught of arrows suddenly stopped which confused Su Hui until she realized the primitives had probably run out. As the primitives were too scared to get close to Su Hui, they could only remain on standby.
As Su Hui was catching her breath, a rope dropped from above, wrapping around her neck. The primitive in the tree above pulled on the rope, lifting her off the ground.
Panicking, Su Hui dropped her weapons and struggled. Her legs flailed in the air while the grip around her neck tightened, causing her to choke.
Upon seeing this, Gu Fan rushed to her aid. However, a group of primitives attempted to block him.
"All right, we go all in." Noticing the primitives closing in from all sides, Gu Fan threw his dagger towards Su Hui, then charged into the crowd of primitives.
"Let’s give it everything, follow me." Xu Haowen decided to gamble too. But as soon as he stepped out, he was discovered by the primitives and found himself being chased.
Su Hui caught the flying dagger, then used it to cut the rope around her neck and fell to the ground once again.
However, the primitives had been waiting. Numerous spears were thrust towards the falling Su Hui.
With no way to evade in mid-air and almost impaled, Xu Haowen was forced her way at the nick of time. He disregarded his situation and lunged at the primitives.
Xu Haowen disrupted the formation of the primitives, causing their spears to miss Su Hui, which saved her life once more.
It was a close, dangerous encounter. Despite Su Hui’s impressive skills, she was still outnumbered. With only a dagger left, she began to slash at her enemies. Each slash caused blood to spurt everywhere and drew screams of pain.
Vicious screams echoed around. Whoever dared to approach Su Hui was injured though not severely. But the pain was intense.
In the eyes of the primitives, Su Hui was a terrifying demon. Below her feet were dozens of their fallen comrades, the weapon in her hand shimmering coldly under the moonlight, instilling dread in their hearts. Her gaze was firm and sharp, as if she was the true hunter.
However, the primitive people had the numerical advantage. While one group was scared off, another arrived. This time, they came prepared with numerous ropes and hurled them towards Su Hui.
"Seriously? You’re kidding." Su Hui tried to dodge the incoming ropes, but avoiding the multitude of thrown ropes strained her.
If a rope missed, the primitives would simply reel it in and throw it again. Su Hui had to constantly evade, leading her to near exhaustion.
She was tired, oh, so tired. With unending enemies pressing forward, both Gu Fan and Xu Haowen had been caught. Even Su Hui was finally ensnared by a rope as she ran out of energy, nearly collapsing.
"Is this it? Is it over?" Gu Fan and Su Hui refused to accept this outcome. However, as they looked at the primitives surrounding them, they felt a sense of helplessness.
