Chapter 585: Escape from the Island
Chapter 585: Chapter 585: Escape from the Island
Ouyang Jin, Gu Ling, and Du Jun had been waiting in the cave for a long time, but there was no sign of Gu Fan. They were extremely anxious, worrying that something bad had happened to Gu Fan, Lin Xi, and Su Hui.
Just then, a mist gushed from the passage, making everyone’s heartbeat accelerate with fear. They remembered their terrifying encounter with the mist on that night and several crew members quickly hid in the cabin.
Du Jun spoke up, "Don’t worry. We are already on the island. Nothing will happen to us. We didn’t encounter any danger during the last foggy night."
Most of them found Du Jun’s words reassuring, but it didn’t escape their attention that Gu Ling looked particularly concerned, as if sensing something.
The sound of footsteps neared them. Du Jun, Ouyang Jin, and others became alert. Some even pointed their guns at the passageway. - better to be safe than sorry.
However, those emerging were Lu Yi and Jie. Seeing their own people, everyone sighed in relief, but when Lu Yi shouted, "Look out, everyone. Pirates are catching up," panic set in among the crew.
"My god, no wonder..." Du Jun and others started to hide. They finally understood why Gu Ling looked so worried.
This was a tough spot. Even though Gu Ling sensed the imminent danger, the problem was that they could no longer escape; a head-on confrontation was inevitable.
As a thick mist started to fill the cave, it soon engulfed the dock. Everyone was extremely tense as the enveloping white mist made it impossible to determine when the enemy would approach.
Du Jun, Lu Yi, Jie, Ouyang Jin, Xu Haowen, Qin Jia, Gu Ling, the captain and the remaining crew members hid in different places, listening to the footsteps in the mist, knowing the pirates were coming.
However, things were not entirely in the pirates’ favor. The pirates entered and found they couldn’t see anything clearly, their numerical advantage instantly diminished.
With no other choice, the pirates, familiar with the terrain, split into several groups to search. Some patrolled on land, while others boarded the ship, walking cautiously.
Unfortunately, Lu Yi, Jie, and Xu Haowen were the first to encounter the pirates. They immediately engaged in a fight, and the sounds of the battle alerted everyone.
"Hurry up and help!" Du Jun, Xu Haowen, and Ouyang Jin rushed over. However, halfway there, they encountered another wave of pirates. There was no way out. They had to fight.
Due to the dense fog obscuring their sight, no one dared to shoot blindly. The battle turned into a vicious hand-to-hand combat.
Sometimes, Lu Yi punched a pirate and wanted to follow up with more attacks, but was stunned to find that the pirate disappeared into the mist after retreating a few steps. He had no idea where the enemy was.
In this way, both sides fought chaotically, with their views obstructed. Often in the middle of the fight, they lost track of where they were, where the enemy was, and where their own people were. At times, they even mistook their own men for enemies in the fog.
Upon hearing the sounds of battle and screaming around her, Qin Jia felt the fight was intense. Worried about her companions’ safety, she took out her wolf-repellent spray and said, "Xiaoling, why don’t we go help as well? The more, the merrier."
At that moment, as soon as Gu Ling finished saying, "I don’t think we can provide much help with our limited combat skills," a pirate jumped onto the ship and walked into the cabin, spotting Qin Jia and Gu Ling.
The pirate was overjoyed, thinking he had hit the jackpot. Just as he lunged at them, Qin Jia sprayed him with the wolf-repellent spray. His eyes instantly stung, and he cried out in pain.
Gu Ling picked up a plank and aimed at the pirate’s head. Like she imagined, her strength was weak and although the plank hit his head, the pirate simply felt a little headache and didn’t pass out.
As the pirate opened his eyes again shock and fear took over with the sight of Qin Jia holding the spray canister in front of him.
Qin Jia wasn’t about to give the pirate any chances to turn things around. She sprayed him again with the repellent, and the poor pirate cried out in pain, desperately rubbing his eyes.
Gu Ling, undeterred, kept hitting the pirate’s head with the plank. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t inflict any serious damage. Instead, she wore herself out, secretly wishing men were here to fight.
Just then, two figures rushed in, alerted by the sound of the fight. They ran through the battlefield and easily subdued the pirate. After resolving this issue, they moved on.
Su Lei had already knocked down several crew members and was about to deal with Du Jun when he sensed danger. He turned to see two figures rushing towards him, and he quickly dodged.
However, the two figures worked seamlessly together. They launched a furious attack, and within a few rounds, they knocked out Su Lei.
When the mist cleared, everyone was shocked at the sight of the devastated battlefield, their disheveled comrades and enemies, and they didn’t know what to do next.
Lin Xi was standing on top of a ship; Gu Fan and Su Hui had just taken care of several pirates, their faces oozing confidence.
"Brother, Sister Su, Sister Lin Xi, you’re finally here. I missed you so much," Gu Ling said, unable to contain her excitement.
Seeing that Gu Fan, Lin Xi, Su Hui had arrived, everyone sighed a breath of relief. With these three here, there was nothing to worry about.
But for the pirates, things had turned bad. Looking around, all they could see were their fallen comrades. They held guns in their hands, but Su Hui had already aimed her gun at them and shot a pirate who attempted to move.
"Alright, let’s leave," Gu Fan called out for Xioahu to board the ship with him. The rest of the crew followed. The relief they felt in their hearts was indescribable. Finally, they could leave this place.
The captain and the crew quickly navigated the ship carrying everyone away from the cave dock.
No sooner had Gu Fan left, the pirate leader and his men arrived to see Gu Fan’s ship sailing away. Infuriated, the pirate leader cursed and opened fire, but none of his bullets hit the ship.
Xioahu watched as the pirate leader became smaller and smaller in the distance. The dreadful experiences on the island flashed through his mind again as they sailed further away from the nightmarish island. The hope of returning home came alive in him once again. At that moment, he was on the verge of tears.
Gu Fan comforted him, saying, "I promised I’d take you home. I keep my word."
"I finally escaped. I finally escaped. I can go home now!" Xioahu still felt as if he was dreaming.
Everyone was happy for Xioahu but fell into silence. After all, no one could imagine what Xioahu, still a child, had gone through on that island.
