Liu Yao understood Gu Fan’s point. If anything were to happen to her, the secret of the old house would be forever buried. Therefore, she should not be overly concerned about reprisal from the boss.

Liu Yao deliberated for a moment, then responded, "I can align myself with you, but the boss must not know about this."

"Very well, I understand. You are secretly taking my side. I won’t spill it." Gu Fan was rather satisfied with this answer, then he bid goodbye to Liu Yao. After all, he had more pressing matters to attend to.

However, as Liu Yao turned a corner and walked a bit further towards the parking lot, she was taken aback. To her horror, she saw the boss leaning against her car.

Noticing Liu Yao’s stiff body language, Gu Fan rushed to the parking lot. Upon seeing the boss, he was stricken with panic. He feared both raising the boss’s ire to the point of violence and the possibility of the boss having overheard their conversation.

Gu Fan let out a dry laugh, "Boss, you flatter me. It was merely a lucky guess."

Gu Fan shook his head with a confident smile, "That won’t happen, boss, you wouldn’t dare. Because if you do, my friends will surely come to save me.
