Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 471
Chapter 471: 471
"Stop the car, stop the car now!" Liu Yao shouted anxiously, and Yuan Cheng immediately pulled the car over to the side of the road, asking, "What’s wrong, what happened?"
Without answering, Liu Yao got out of the car and looked at the siblings not far away.
Just as Gu Fan was about to leave with Gu Ling, following a bout of low spirits, a voice called from behind, "Wait a moment!"
"Ah!" Gu Fan turned and saw Liu Yao jog over. Assuming she had changed her mind and was coming to help, Gu Fan was overjoyed and went forward to greet her.
However, an awkward moment occurred. Liu Yao walked right past Gu Fan without even acknowledging him, leaving Gu Fan utterly bewildered.
"Is it really you?" Liu Yao was incredulous. She hadn’t expected to see Gu Ling in this place. She then noticed the old house nearby, which seemed familiar, as if she had lived there before?
Gu Ling smiled and said, "Sister, we sure have some destiny."
Hearing this, Gu Fan was puzzled, "What? Do you two know each other?"
Liu Yao didn’t answer, all her attention focused on Gu Ling, "Little girl, I want to ask, did you used to pick up money on the streets often?"
"Yes, how did you know, sister?" This time it was Gu Ling’s turn to be surprised. But then Gu Fan resolved her confusion, "Because when you were little, people used to take you out, and whenever you found money, you’d buy snacks."
Gu Ling was taken aback. She was very young then and didn’t remember much.
This time, Liu Yao finally turned her attention to Gu Fan, asking, "Do you know me, that my family used to live in this old house?"
Upon this, Gu Fan nodded and said, "Your father once visited and reminisced. That’s how I learned that my ex-girlfriend’s best friend was also a childhood friend who used to live under the same roof with me. We almost grew up as childhood sweethearts."
The first part of Gu Fan’s sentence was acceptable, the latter half, however, seemed off, causing Yuan Cheng to frown.
Gu Ling was thrilled, "So, sister, you also used to live in this old house. It seems we really are connected by fate."
"Yes, when we were children, I used to play with you often." Liu Yao was also joyous, feeling as if it was a grand design of fate.
At this moment, Yuan Cheng interjected, "I heard from Liu Yao that when she was abroad, she was attacked and it was with this little girl’s help that Liu Yao managed to escape. I really have to thank this little girl."
"It’s nothing special. Given the complicated relationship and long-standing friendship between our two families, this was only right. The feeling of mutual help is really great." Gu Fan’s statement was profound and his eyes were filled with expectations. However, Liu Yao saw right through Gu Fan’s intentions and ignored him completely.
Liu Yao looked at the old house and then said cheerfully, "Xiao Ling, please take me inside for a visit. I want to see how the place I used to live in has changed."
"Sure!" Gu Ling instantly grasped Liu Yao’s hand and headed for the old house.
"Why does it feel like things are getting complicated?" Gu Fan suddenly felt a headache and couldn’t help scratching his head.
Yuan Cheng smiled faintly, "Gu Fan, I advise you not to play the emotional card anymore. Liu Yao is not going to help you. No matter how hard you think to the point of a headache, the result will be the same."
All Gu Fan did was shrug, looking rather indifferent, "Old pal, I’m worrying for you. You haven’t forgotten who lives in this old house, have you?"
"Su Hui... My God, things are getting complicated." A sinking feeling hit Yuan Cheng and he quickly chased after them.
"This is really a twist of fate, getting us all worked up." Gu Fan had no option but to sigh, and then walked into the old house.
As soon as he entered his own house, Gu Fan almost wanted to run away. He saw Liu Yao and Su Hui eyeing each other, their gazes clearly hostile, making the atmosphere incredibly tense.
Gu Ling wanted to say something, but sensing the awkward atmosphere, she quickly retreated. She didn’t understand what was going on. It seemed as though the two sisters had an issue with each other.
"Why can’t we dodge these things?" Yuan Cheng wore a bitter smile, turning to glance back at Gu Fan, who just shrugged, his expression suggesting that he was helpless too.
Finally, it was Liu Yao who broke the tense silence, "I had no idea you also lived here, Su Hui?"
Direct and to the point, Su Hui replied, "I’ve paid the rent, it’s perfectly normal for me to live here."
Hearing this, Liu Yao turned to look at Gu Fan, her gaze filled with accusation, "Well done, Gu Fan. No wonder Leng Le broke up with you, you sure know how to hide your mistress."
This made absolutely no sense to Gu Fan and he tried to explain immediately, "You’re misunderstanding! When I met Leng Le, Sister Su had already moved in."
"Oh, is that so?" Liu Yao responded coldly, clearly not believing a word of it. In her mind, she had already concluded that Gu Fan had been disloyal.
"The whole thing is rather complex, we can start with why Su Hui moved in. You, Liu Yao, also played a role in this..." Gu Fan was cut off by Yuan Cheng, "Alright, let’s not bring up the past... "
This perplexed Liu Yao, "What are you doing, Yuan Cheng? What’s wrong with talking about the past..." She suddenly perceived something, then fell silent and began to scrutinize Su Hui.
Liu Yao remembered something. When she had just started dating Yuan Cheng, she had demanded that he kick Su Hui out of his house. Maybe under those circumstances Su Hui had had to move into Gu Fan’s house. Could that be why Gu Fan said Liu Yao was also responsible for Su Hui living in the old house?
"Wait a minute, wait a minute. I feel like things are getting messy, let me figure this out." Liu Yao wrinkled her brow, counting on her fingers while trying to sort through the details: "The place where I used to live is where you, Su Hui, live now. As a child, I lived under the same roof as Gu Fan. And when we grew up, Gu Fan dated my best friend, Leng Le."
"What the heck, the more I hear, the more complex it gets," Gu Ling sighed, unable to understand the tangle of relationships. Even Yuan Cheng shared the sentiment that the array of coincidences amounted to a rather bizarre orchestration of fate.
Out of options, Gu Fan signaled Su Hui with his eyes. Grasping the hint, Su Hui immediately led Gu Ling up the stairs, leaving the living room to Gu Fan and Liu Yao for their serious conversation.
"Alright, despite the many things that have happened, no matter how fate orchestrates things, we should just do what we ought to do." Gu Fan looked at Liu Yao earnestly, then said, "I need your help. I really need your help. I must find Leng Le. This is very important to me. Please, I beg you, help me this once."
